SummersRadio™ New Remix! Depeche Mode - 'Puppets' (Royksopp Remix) It's been over 3 weeks since I posted the first new 2011 remixes to surface from Depeche Mode's 'Remixes 2' album, which is due out on June 6th.
You can check out/ revisit Alex Metric's remix of 'Personal Jesus' here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/04/summersradio-new-remix-depeche-mode.html
and the Eric Prydz remix of 'Never Let Me Down Again' here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/04/summersradio-new-remix-depeche-mode_08.html)
Another one of the new 2011 remixes has shown up online this week - a remix of 'Puppets' from their very first album 'Speak & Spell'. 'Speak & Spell' was released in 1981 and is their only album to feature Vince Clarke as a member of the band. Clarke wrote most of the songs on the record, but then departed that same year to form Yazoo with Alison Moyet (and later Erasure with Andy Bell in 1985).
This new remix is from Norway's Royksopp... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Classic! Bonus Bent!
SummersRadio™ Classic! Bent - 'Cylons In Love' 'Cylons In Love' is one of those album standout tracks that should have been released as a single, but never was. It's from their debut album called 'Programmed To Love' which was released in 2000 in the U.K., and a year later in North America.
There are several different versions of the album - a European one, the North American, the original U.K. version, and the re-released U.K. version - so it's either track 3 or 6 on the cd - depending on which one you may have! I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, so I have the original U.K. import version - this is 'Cylons In Love'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Classic! Bent!
SummersRadio™ Classic! Bent - 'Magic Love' So apparently there was a wedding today - did you hear about it? Honestly, I can't believe the amount of coverage that this event has received - we have a very important national election here in Canada on Monday - and even so, this wedding is receiving far more coverage!
Now I'm not big on royalty - or any type of figurehead - and I find it completely ridonkulous that the British taxpayers have to help foot the bill for this. However I wouldn't deny Prince William any happiness after the tragedy he had to endure at such a young age. So with all the overblown hoopla aside then, I wish them well... Cheers!
I've actually had another Bent tune swimming around my head the last couple days (for unrelated reasons) which I will post shortly, but this one seemed more appropriate to begin today with. Bent are an electronic duo consisting of Neil Tolliday and Simon Mills and they are indeed quite British - hailing from Nottingham. They formed in 1999 and have released four studio albums, a best of collection, and a number of dj mix albums. 'Magic Love' is a single released from their second album called 'The Everlasting Blink' - which was released in 2003.
There was initially quite a mystery around who sang the vocals on this track - but it was later revealed to be Toni Tennille from the massively popular 70's duo The Captain and Tennille! Here's another little known fact about Toni Tennille - she sang back up vocals on Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'! I've always thought she was kinda cool anyway, and now knowing that she did the vocals on this song - and sang on 'The Wall' - only makes her that much cooler to me! Enjoy...!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Pierre Delort & Remy Maurin!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Pierre Delort & Remy Maurin - 'Disco Zombies' (Original Mix) France's Pierre Delort first teamed up with Sweden's Remy Maurin in 2004 - under the name Principles Of Flight - producing progressive psytrance. After working on some separate projects they started working together again in 2010 - and they've moved on to producing techno!
They've just released the brilliantly titled 'Zombie Disco Cat' EP (I find the artwork both amusing and kinda creepy!) on the Skryptom Records label. It features 3 songs - two versions of 'Mijaouw' and this track - 'Disco Zombies'. Dance Zombie Disco Cat - Dance! Enjoy...

He's just released a new remix EP for his track 'Balloons' featuring remixes from France's Da Fresh and Brazil's Glitter. This remix is also included on the latest label compilation from Hamburg Germany's Futureaudio label - called 'Creators Of Techno Vol. 4'.
I've always liked balloons - even songs about balloons! This one sounds like it's about helium ones as the keyboard and vocal bits keep rising up. I'd like to hear this song in a packed giant club during a ballon drop please - make it so! :) This is the Da Fresh remix of 'Balloons'...Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Rare Remixes! The Go-Gos!
SummersRadio™ Rare Remixes! The Go-Gos - 'Our Lips Are Sealed' (Extended 12 Inch Version) As mentioned yesterday the Go-Go's are coming to Vancouver on August 12th to perform at the Commodore! (see the post below for more details) I thought I'd post a couple rare remixes of the other single released off of 'Beauty & The Beat' - there were only two - somewhat surprising given the success of the album. First up we have the 'Extended 12 Inch Version' of 'Our Lips Are Sealed' - which was a rare promo only release in 1981 - the fun video has been extended as well... Enjoy!
And here' s a rare remix from 2005 by Fatboy Slim... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Concert News! The Go-Gos!!
SummersRadio™ Concert News! The Go-Go's - 'We Got The Beat' OMG! This is a dream come true - I'm going to get to meet one of my all time favorite bands! The Go-Go's are coming to Vancouver to perform as part of their 'Ladies Gone Wild Tour' on Friday August 12th at the Commodore! There are 3 types of concert packages - regular general admission, an 'Enhanced VIP' package that includes your ticket, 1 hand signed copy of 'Beauty & The Beat' on pink vinyl, a pre-order for the 30th anniversary release of 'Beauty & The Beat' - which is released on May 17th, and a Go-Go's t-shirt! Only one thing could top that - and that's the 'Premium VIP' package which contains everything in the Enhanced one, plus a commemorative VIP laminate AND a meet and greet with the band!! Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster!
I've always had a fondness for girl groups - and not the manufactured acts - women that actually write and play their own songs! The Go-Go's formed in Los Angeles in 1978 and in 1982 they made history as the first all female band to both write their own songs and play their own instruments to hit number one on the Billboard charts! This was with their debut album 'Beauty And The Beat' which Allmusic describes as one of the 'cornerstone albums of new wave'. The band was originally together for seven years - from 1978 to 1985. They reunited several times - first in 1990, then 1994, and then again in 1999 until the present. Singer Belinda Carlisle announced that they were planning a farewell tour in 2010 but then Jane Wiedlin injured her knee, requiring surgery and months of recovery time. However they recently announced the 'Ladies Gone Wild Tour' in support of the 30th anniversary release of 'Beauty & The Beat'!
'Beauty & The Beat' was released in July 1981 and climbed the chart steadily until it reached number 1 in March of 82 - where it stayed for six weeks. This is the original promo video for 'We Got The Beat' from 1981 - Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Classic! The Teenagers!
SummersRadio™ Classic! The Teenagers - 'Homecoming' The new Digitalism song '2 Hearts' posted below reminded me of the sound of The Teenagers debut album 'Reality Check'. Apparently The Teenagers are at work on new material but no date is set yet for the follow up to their 2008 debut. Some people pegged this song as misogynistic, but I think that the band were actually mocking the difference between the way young guys and girls sometimes approach sex and relationships. This is a cool fan made video for their debut single 'Homecoming' from 2007 - made for an NYU toy photography course... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Digitalism - '2 Hearts' Digitalism's new song - and their first new material since their 'Blitz' EP last November - has just been released online today! (Historical factoid: 'Blitz' was featured in my first post - when the SummersRadio™ Facebook group expanded to official blog status last Oct. 24th!
http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2010/10/summersradio-new-music.html)
'2 Hearts' is noted as the 'first single' from the Hamburg band's forthcoming second album (I don't know if they forgot about 'Blitz' - or if it's not going to be included on the album at this point) which is called 'I Love You, Dude' (!) and set to be released on June 17th. This song is much more rock/ pop than the electronic 'Blitz' - but then their debut album straddled both genres as well - this is '2 Hearts'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Art Department featuring Seth Troxler - 'Living The Life' (Original Mix) The Art Department is a duo consisting of Toronto producers Kenny Glasgow and Jonny White. They released their debut album called 'The Drawing Room' last month on the Crosstown Rebels label. This week they released their new single 'Living The Life' - a two track EP containing this original mix and the 'ABA Therapy Version' - both featuring vocals from Detroit's Seth Troxler. The slowed down voice over bits make for a trippy and amusing tune... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! More Pierre Deutschmann!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Pierre Deutschmann - 'DTF' (Original Mix) So the Arctic Monkeys post turned me off of rock and/ or roll for about an hour and a half. In that time I searched the world wide web for some new quality techno - and this brings us back to Pierre Deutschmann and his new 'Westhafen' EP.
In addition to the title track posted below, this opening track 'DTF' on the four song 'Westhafen' EP is another standout! I was slightly tempted to post the second track - 'Whore Couture' - just for the brilliant title alone - but 'DTF' is the stronger track. Just when you think it's finished taking you on your journey - about 5:15 in or so - there's a surprise bonus trip - it takes you somewhere else entirely... Enjoy!
p.s. if like myself you require a copy of this ace track post haste, it's available exclusively from Beatport here: https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/home/detail/1/beatport#app=17f1&a486-index=8

SummersRadio™ I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing! New Music! Arctic Monkeys!
SummersRadio™ I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing! New Music! Arctic Monkeys - 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair'
Funny story... so yesterday when I saw that there was a new Arctic Monkey's song I thought 'hey - that might be postworthy'. But then I listened to it - more than once. I even slept on it, and decided that it was not. I also generally avoid dissing any particular artists or type of music, as I respect that different people like different things for different reasons. And with 7,102,985,475 humans in the world (as of the time of writing this - plus who knows how many more on other planets/other galaxies) it makes sense to have lots of different types of music. Everything has it's place - and in this case it's as a leadoff single - and filler for a career ending album.
So I wouldn't normally do this type of post, but I had to here as I felt rather strongly on this one - how terrible this song really is. My apologies if you love it, or think that the Arctic Monkeys can do no wrong - there are worse things out there - I know. At the risk of sounding too lowbrow - this song just pisses me off! They've fallen so hard - I mean, this is the band that holds the record for the fastest selling debut album for a band in Britain, right? Really?
I don't despise the Arctic Monkeys either - I have the first album and a couple EP's - I thought that 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' was a brilliant single. However some might say that it's been largely downhill for the band since then. Some may even consider them to be one hit wonders (in North America at least). Even before I heard this song (the first official single) I was somewhat reluctant to post the first song (but not a single - 'Brick By Brick') to surface on the interweb from their forthcoming album. http://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID=4904777174084155113&postID=1414640791691524414 I still think it's a bad ripoff of a good ripoff - but it was the first new song and all - so I did it! I may or may not have been under the influence.
'Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair' is released digitally this week - and it's also available on vinyl on the 16th for Record Store Day! If the title of that single isn't clever enough for you, their fourth studio album is called 'Suck It And See' (I don't suck things that suck - it could create a dangerous vortex!) and is released on June 6th. And even if you look past the titles - the lyrics to the song itself are embarassing. Seriously. Did Rebecca Black write this song for them?
And musically it reminds me of Oasis when they ran out of ideas and just tried to sound heavier. If this was 20 years ago this might be considered cutting edge as a new grunge tune - but it's not even a good grunge tune - it's loud but it doesn't really rock. (coincidentally I have the Simpsons on in the background and they just said something like 'and let's all move to Seattle and use slow modems' - nice timing!) I think someone needs to call the band and tell them that it's time to break up. Now.
So to wrap up with the signature 'Enjoy' would clearly not be appropriate for this post. Consider this just a head's up then - to perhaps avoid this one. So... Beware! :)

SummersRadio™ Forward To The Past Part 3: Classic! Divine!
SummersRadio™ Classic! Divine - 'Native Love' (Remix) Further to yesterday's post about the similarities between a number of new club songs and older ones, here's another one that came to mind - when I posted the other new Hertz track 'Red Ryder' a few weeks ago, I was instantly reminded of this classic from the one and only Divine!
Harris Glenn Milstead was an actor, singer and drag queen from Baltimore that was known by his stage name Divine. This name was first given to him by a fellow Baltimore resident - an aspiring young filmmaker who wanted to make 'the trashiest motion pictures in cinema history' named John Waters! Divine had roles in several short films that Waters made in the late 60's and then went on to star in many of Waters full length movies including Mondo Trasho, Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble, and the original Hairspray film.
Divine started his recording career in 1980 and subsequently recorded a number of singles with producer Bobby Orlando - the most successful of those early singles being this track - 1982's 'Native Love (Step By Step)'. It was his first single to chart on the Dutch Singles Chart and to this day it's his highest charting single on the U.S. Club Play Singles charts. This is one of the original 12 inch remixes from that same year... Enjoy!
Now compare Divine's track to this other recent single from Hertz called 'Red Ryder'. I'm not trying to single out Hertz, as I love their music and these are just two examples of many new tracks that pay homage to this era (as mentioned in the posts featuring new tracks from the new compilation from Poker Flat Recordings called 'Forward To The Past').
This is Divine... err, Hertz :) Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Forward To The Past Part 2: Classic! Dead Or Alive!
SummersRadio™ Classic! Dead Or Alive - 'Lover Come Back To Me' (Evolution Mix) It has been said that no music is truly original. Every artist is influenced by everything they've ever heard, either consciously or subconsciously. A lot of new club tunes lately have reminded me of the production sounds of Giorgio Moroder and Bobby Orlando - and also the early production work of Stock Aitken Waterman - with artists like Divine and Dead Or Alive - before they turned themselves into a very bland hit factory.
(I actually started this post and saved it into drafts a couple times - but after posting a couple tracks from the new Poker Flat Recordings compilation 'Forward To The Past' earlier today I thought it was time to publish it!)
When I posted the new Hertz & Subway Baby song 'Rejoice' (yesterday) I was instantly reminded of this club classic from Dead Or Alive. 'Lover Come Back To Me' was released in 1985 as the follow up to their number one smash 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)' from their Youthquake album - and this particular remix is available on their 2003 hits compilation called 'Evolution'. The production is amazing on this one - I particularly love the breakdown about 3 and a half minutes in... Enjoy!
Try not to be too distracted by singer Pete Burns antics and compare the music to the new track from Hertz & Subway Baby..
(I love this sound - I just think it's important to know the influences as well - Cheers!)

SummersRadio™ New Music! Redshape!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Redshape - 'Funky Green Hat' (Altered Mix) 'Funky Green Hat' is one of just two tracks on the new label compilation from Poker Flat Recordings that appears twice. 'Elements Of Fife' by The Revenge, and this track 'Funky Green Hat' have two different mixes featured on the 'Forward To The Past' compilation. And it makes sense - as this is certainly a standout track - full on acid house/ techno! This is the 'Altered Mix' of 'Funky Green Hat' by Redshape... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Ribn!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Ribn - 'Pancake' Berlin based Stefan Brugesch aka Steve Bug has been dj'ing and producing for 20 years! He founded the deep house label Dessous Recordings in 1998, quickly followed by the Poker Flat Recordings label (current home to Trentemoller) in 1999. Poker Flat have just released their latest label compilation called 'Forward To The Past' - in a 'Back To The Future' style font!
In the words of label boss Steve Bug 'Forward To The Past' is a 'homage to the period between ‚85 and ‚92‘, traversing the heady sounds of Chicago House, Acid, New York House and Early Detroit Techno.' I like the title and the concept. Let's be honest - there's a lot of new music coming out right now that sounds a lot like that particular time period! (I may elaborate on this later today - depending on how many drinks are consumed in the next few hours!) I applaude them for being upfront about it here.
The compilation has 14 tracks - 12 brand new songs plus two remixes of two of those tracks. This is the 4th song on the list by Ribn - a German duo consisting of Manuel Tur and Max Heesen. I really like the production on this one - it's both spacious and spacey - this is 'Pancake'... Enjoy!

It's from their new forthcoming album 'Hot Sauce Committee Part Two' which is released on May 3rd. They had originally intended to release 'Hot Sauce Committee Part One' in September of 2009, but it's release and their touring schedule was put on hold with the announcement that summer that Adam Yanch had cancer and needed surgery. According to latest reports 'Hot Sauce Committee Part Two' is now actually the tracklist that was intended for part one - so when and if part one is actually released remains to be seen.
'Make Some Noise' will be released digitally next week - Monday in the U.K. and Tuesday in North America. It will also be released on a limited 7 inch single later in the week to coincide with Record Store Day on the 16th - and the b-side will feature a remix by Passion Pit. SummersRadio™ Classic Remix! Depeche Mode!
SummersRadio™ Classic Remix! Depeche Mode - 'A Pain That I'm Used To' (Jacques Lu Cont Remix) I would imagine that the easy part of compiling a tracklist for a new Depeche Mode remix album would be adding the new remixes. When it comes to choosing just 24 classic remixes out of hundreds of options it must be hard to decide which ones to go with - so I'm glad to see that one of my favorite remixes of their more recent material made the cut!
'A Pain That I'm Used To' was released as the second single from their 2005 release 'Playing The Angel'. This remix is from legendary British producer Jacques Lu Cont - also known as Stuart Price (and by numerous other monikers) and although this may be considered late in their respective careers - I consider this song/ remix to be one of their finest individual pieces of work... play it loud and Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Double Depeche Mode!
SummersRadio™ New Remix! Depeche Mode - 'Never Let Me Down Again' (Eric Prydz Remix) As mentioned in the previous post Depeche Mode are releasing a new remix compilation on June 6th called 'Remixes 2: 81-11'! The full triple cd/ lp/ download set will contain remixes of songs spanning their lengthy thirty year career - 37 in total - 13 of which are brand new. Check out the post below for one of the new 'Personal Jesus 11' remixes and the full tracklisting.
Here we have another one of the brand new remixes - Eric Prydz remix of 'Never Let Me Down Again'! 'Never Let Me Down Again' was first released as the second single from Depeche Mode's sixth studio album - 1987's 'Music For The Masses' - which lived up to it's name - especially in North America where it sold over 2 million copies, and a total of 6 million worldwide.
If you're a fan of dance music no doubt you're already familiar with Swedish dj/ producer Eric Prydz. Although he has yet to release his first artist album (word has it that one is scheduled for this summer) he's released dozens of singles under his own name and other aliases (most notably Pryda) - including the 2004 number one 'Call On Me' - the song based on Steve Winwood's 'Valerie' that featured the popular sexually agressive workout video. He's also done dozens of remixes including the massive 2007 remix of Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)' which was renamed 'Proper Education' - which you can revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2010/12/summersradio-classic-eric-prydz-vs.html

SummersRadio™ New Video! Death Cab For Cutie!
SummersRadio™ New Video! Death Cab For Cutie - 'You Are A Tourist' When I first posted Death Cab For Cutie's new single last week I mentioned their plans to record the video for it live in just one take - and here we have the finished product! Aside from the band members looking rather goofy when walking, it features some pretty cool lighting and plenty of talented dancers... Enjoy!
Bonus track! Mike Oldfield - 'In High Places' The opening vocal hook in 'You Are a Tourist' when Ben sings 'this fire grows higher' totally reminds me of this Mike Oldfield song 'In High Places'. 'In High Places' is from his 1983 release 'Crisis' and was co-written with - and features vocals from - Jon Anderson. Now that I listen to this again, it almost sounds like it could be a DCFC song - am I crazy? I think not... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Rare Remix! Kate Bush!
SummersRadio™ Rare Remix! Kate Bush - 'King Of The Mountain' (Kick Inside Remix) If I may indulge... the last 24 hours have been largely craptacular - although two cool things did happen. The first occurred last night when I first heard about - and got to listen to - Kate Bush's new 'Director's Cut' of 'Deeper Understanding' which is posted below.
I had no idea that it was coming out - and it's two minutes longer than the original - and more experimental - like something from 'The Dreaming' or 'Hounds Of Love' - I love it! I must confess that when I first heard what sounded like autotune (the devil - if ever there was one) I was suddenly very afraid, but then it distorts and goes into separate harmonies and it's just beautiful.
The other good thing was that I saw this abandoned plant in the parking garage - which I quickly adopted. It needs to be repoted (Is that a word? It is now!) post haste, but it's awesome!
Anyway, to further celebrate the release of the new Kate Bush 'reworks' I thought what better time to also post not only my favorite Kate Bush remix - but also one of my favorite remixes of all time! (partly as it's such a remarkable transformation) 'King Of The Mountain' is from her 2005 release 'Aerial' - which was then her first album in twelve years! Although it was a double cd in two parts, 'King Of The Mountain' was the first and only single released from the album.
This 'Kick Inside Remix' was released on a very limited run of white label 12" singles. If you have it, or if you're lucky enough to find a copy of this on vinyl, may I suggest that you play it with the tempo slowed way down - Stoner House™ style?! It starts with a nice tech house feel - but then it unexpectantly starts to transform around 4:30 to 5 minutes in - and then a minute later it's pretty much full on acid house/ techno Kate Bush - AMAZING! If you know nothing of Kate Bush just listen to this song and the one posted below and I suspect that the odds are pretty good that you'll want to hear more!
I'm not really a fan of videos with the full lyrics popping up - I mean I'm huge on quality lyrics, but I find lyrics in giant letters rather distracting - and it can also take away from the subtlety of great lyrics. However, this clip also features some amazing photographs of the always lovely Kate - and wonderful moments of slow fades and strange blackness - that adds to this remix's already trippy nature! This is Kate Bush - 'King Of The Mountain' - the 'Kick Inside Remix'... Enjoy! ♥

SummersRadio™ New Rework/ Remix! Kate Bush!!!
SummersRadio™ New Rework/ Remix! Kate Bush - 'Deeper Understanding' (Director's Cut) Well this certainly was a wonderful surprise - finding out that one of my all time favorite artists was releasing something new-ish! Here's the whole story... Kate Bush has recently regained full control of four of her albums from her longtime label EMI - 'The Dreaming', 'Hounds Of Love', 'The Sensual World' and 'The Red Shoes' (the former two being my two personal favorites). On May 16th she's releasing a compilation album on her own Fish People label called the 'Director's Cut' - which features reworkings of 11 tracks from 'The Sensual World' & The Red Shoes'!
Here's the full tracklisting for 'Director's Cut':
1. Flower Of The Mountain (Director's Cut)
2. Song Of Solomon (Director's Cut)
3. Lily (Director's Cut)
4. Deeper Understanding (Director's Cut)
5. The Red Shoes (Director's Cut)
6. This Woman's Work (Director's Cut)
7. Moments Of Pleasure (Director's Cut)
8. Never Be Mine (Director's Cut)
9. Top Of The City (Director's Cut)
10. And So Is Love (Director's Cut)
11. Rubberband Girl (Director's Cut)
Now rework is a funny word when it comes to music - it could mean a slight tweak that is barely noticeable - or something radical. While no one's expecting a metal remix from Kate Bush, if this version of 'Deeper Understanding' is anything to go by, fans will be delighted! 'Deeper Understanding' was originally the sixth track on her 1989 release 'The Sensual World' - at a time when computers weren't yet part of our daily lives. The lyrics are more fitting now than ever, and the production on this version is certainly noticeable - similar enough to be recognizable but different enough to sound new.
This good news is that this version of 'Deeper Understanding' is available for download on itunes as of today! And if that's not enough - in addition the the release of 'Director's Cut' next month - she's also said to be working on a brand new album! Kate Bush fans rejoice - this is the 'Director's Cut' of 'Deeper Understanding'... Enjoy!
Here's the full tracklisting for 'Director's Cut':
1. Flower Of The Mountain (Director's Cut)
2. Song Of Solomon (Director's Cut)
3. Lily (Director's Cut)
4. Deeper Understanding (Director's Cut)
5. The Red Shoes (Director's Cut)
6. This Woman's Work (Director's Cut)
7. Moments Of Pleasure (Director's Cut)
8. Never Be Mine (Director's Cut)
9. Top Of The City (Director's Cut)
10. And So Is Love (Director's Cut)
11. Rubberband Girl (Director's Cut)
Now rework is a funny word when it comes to music - it could mean a slight tweak that is barely noticeable - or something radical. While no one's expecting a metal remix from Kate Bush, if this version of 'Deeper Understanding' is anything to go by, fans will be delighted! 'Deeper Understanding' was originally the sixth track on her 1989 release 'The Sensual World' - at a time when computers weren't yet part of our daily lives. The lyrics are more fitting now than ever, and the production on this version is certainly noticeable - similar enough to be recognizable but different enough to sound new.

SummersRadio™ New Music! Hertz & Subway Baby!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Hertz & Subway Baby - 'Rejoice' (Original Mix) Swedish duo Hertz and Tommy Nygren aka Subway Baby have just released a new EP today! It's called 'Rejoice' and it has two tracks - the title song and 'Strategic Impact' - and it's released on the 1605 label.
This is the title track 'Rejoice' - and there are definitely some major 80's production influences on this one. I hear the likes of Giorgio Moroder, Bobby Orlando - and Dead Or Alive's club classic from 1985 - 'Lover Come Back To Me'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Justice!
SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Justice - 'Civilization' (Luxar Remix) Even though Justice's new single 'Civilization' was just released on Tuesday - unofficial remixes of the song have been popping up like crazy! I just counted well over 30 remixes online already! As is always the case when there's a slew of remixes out there - one of them rises to the top - and here we find the 'Luxar Remix'.
Luxar are a new electronic duo from London that just released their debut EP last month called 'Arrival'. You can discover more about Luxar and their debut EP from their Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Luxar/191052597577169?sk=wall
It appears that this Justice remix is the first remix that Luxar have even done - or at least posted for others to hear - and it's quite a brilliant transformation. They take the original hard rock wannabe anthem and turn it into a wonderful self described 'disco electronic' masterpiece! You can download a copy of the remix for free courtesy of Luxar here: http://soundcloud.com/luxarmusic/justice-civilization-luxar or simply click on the download arrow below.
Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ RAC Remix + Free Download! Phantogram!
SummersRadio™ RAC Remix + Free Download! Phantogram - 'When I'm Small' (RAC Mix) The Remix Artist Collective (who just remixed Peter Bjorn & John in yesterday's post) have been together since 2007, remixing artists such as Bloc Party, Dragonette, Chromeo, The Shins, The Gossip, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, U2 and Radiohead. They released their first compilation called 'RAC Vol. 1' to celebrate their first year together - as a free mp3 release through Stereogum.
Last month they officially released 'RAC Vol. 2' online - which features remixes from artists such as Phoenix, Delorean, and this recent single from New York's Phantogram. 'When I'm Small' was first released in 2009 on the Saratoga Springs N.Y. indie label Sub-Bombin Records. They later signed with Barsuk Records and they released their debut album called 'Eyelid Movies' last February. RAC take the already memorable trip hop song and replace the guitar hook with keyboards that eventually wash through the song, making it sound even more surreal than before!
You can download either the remix itself here: http://soundcloud.com/rac/phantogram-when-im-small-rac-mix/# or the full nine track compilation 'RAC Vol. 2' here: http://soundcloud.com/rac/sets/rac-vol-2/ - both are available as a free download on Soundcloud courtesy of RAC themselves! You can also learn more about RAC from their official website here: http://remixartistcollective.com/blog
