I'm A Cliché has released the latest instalment of their 'Edit Service Series' - Volume 35 - featuring a Pink Floyd remix! The Paris label releases a new remix every couple weeks by one of their own crew or from friends - and they make it available as a free download. 'Edit Service 35' is a remix of Pink Floyd's 'Obscured By Clouds' by the French duo Monoblok & PSLKTR.
'Obscured By Clouds' is the title track from Pink Floyd's seventh studio album - which was based on the soundtrack to the film 'La Vallee' and released in 1972.

The French label Correspondant is releasing a new compilation (their second) next week! The label was born out of dj Jennifer Cardini's residency at Rex Club in Paris - which has been going for eight years.

Jeremy Hills is a producer from Paris who's just released a new remix of Radiohead's 'Everything In Its Right Place' online! Although never released as a single the opening track from Radiohead's 'Kid A' album has been remixed many times since it's release in 2000. As is often the case with remixes some have been great and some have been disastrous, but this new one is one of the better ones.

Paris's Bot'Ox have just released a remix of their forthcoming new single 'Basement Love' online! The band are releasing the follow up to their 2010 debut album 'Babylon By Car' called 'Sans Dormir' as a series of six EP's. The first EP 'Basement Love' features four tracks - the original version of the title track - along with remixes from Pachanga Boys, Richard Fearless from Death In Vegas, and one from band member Cosmo Vitelli himself. It's released on his 'I'm A Cliche' label on December 10th - you can pre-order it now on itunes.
'Basement Love' features the vocals of Foremost Poets aka jOHNNYDANGEROUs and this remix by Pachanga Boys (aka Hippie Dance) transform the song into an epic twelve minute techno journey whilst maintaining the ominous keyboards and booming drums from the original. SummersRadio™ Classic Mashup! Nine Inch Nails vs The Beatles - 'Come Closer Together' (DJ Zebra Bootleg)/ Wings - 'Hi Hi Hi'
In just one hour I shall be leaving to see a legend perform at B.C. Place - Sir Paul McCartney! He's only played in Vancouver once previously - the first time that The Beatles played in Canada almost 50 years ago - on August 22nd, 1964 at the Empire Stadium. Their set lasted less than half an hour but tonight's show is rumoured to be close to three hours long!
This flawless bootleg of Nine Inch Nails 1994 single 'Closer' vs The Beatles 1969 single 'Come Together' first appeared around 2004. It was created by Paris's DJ Zebra (http://www.zebramix.fr/category/musique/) who's recorded over 500 mashups since 2001... Enjoy!
Bonus Track! I commend McCartney for supporting the legalization of marijuana over the years. He's had several well publicized run ins with the law for possession - after spending ten days in a Tokyo jail in 1980 he was quoted as saying "cannabis is ... less harmful than rum punch, whiskey, nicotine and glue, all of which are perfectly legal" and in 1997 he said "People are smoking pot anyway and to make them criminals is wrong".
I think it's a bit of an embarrassment that two U.S. states (Washington and Colorado) recently legalized it for recreational use before British Columbia has - but our time will come soon enough.
'Hi Hi Hi' was released with Wings in 1972 - and I reckon the opening line 'Well when I met you at the station you were standing with a bootleg in your hand' fits well with the track above... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Depeche Mode - 'Angel'
Depeche Mode held a press conference today to announce the first details of their 2013 stadium tour - and they also offered us the first taste of their new album! The press conference was held in Paris earlier today and started with this video (below) of a new song that is most likely called 'Angel Of Love'. (update: it's just 'Angel' actually) It was revealed later in the question period that followed that it doesn't officially have a title yet - nor does their forthcoming new studio album (their thirteenth). They did however announce the full details of the European portion of next year's worldwide tour.
The 34 date tour covering 25 countries begins in Tel Aviv on May 7th and wraps up July 29th in Minsk. The full list of cities with ticket links can be found here on their official website: http://countdown.depechemode.com/ There will also be a North American leg to follow - but those dates are still a mystery for now.
So this untitled new song (let's call it 'Angel Of Love') is what one might call traditional Depeche Mode. It resembles their 1993 single 'I Feel You' a bit - particularly around 1:40 in. Martin Gore mentioned during the conference that he felt that the new material was a cross between 'Violator' and 'Songs Of Faith And Devotion' - 'optimistic' he said. The title track 'Slow Dance' is an inviting spaced out sonic trip but I reckon I like the second track 'Look At My Pyramid' even more. 'Look At My Pyramid' has wicked keyboard sounds (I particularly like the build around 50 seconds in), more cowbell and drifting vocal samples that remind me of a cross between Bobby Gillespie's more drugged out moments from Primal Scream's 'Screamadelica' masterpiece... and a porno film!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Caravan Palace - 'Clash' (Jupiter Remix) Caravan Palace are releasing their new EP called 'Clash' today! Caravan Palace are a six piece band from Paris that met after three of the band members were hired to provide soundtracks for porno films!
They released their self titled debut album in 2008 - the follow up album isn't due until next year, but their new 'Clash' EP - which features two new songs and four remixes - is out today. (technically in a few minutes - at midnight - the 3rd!) :)
Their debut album was generally described as electroswing (a fusion of swing and house music) - as is the the original mix of 'Clash' - however this particular remix is pretty much full on funky disco electro house. This is the 'Jupiter Remix' of the title track - and it is without question the most sublimely funky new track I have heard in some time... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Rone - 'Nakt' Erwan Castex aka Rone is an artist/ producer/ filmmaker from Paris. He's just released a new EP on the InFiné Music label called 'So So So'. It features three songs including this track called 'Nakt' - which I think would make for the perfect soundtrack to a really cool lucid dream. If we were able to record our dreams (and be able to watch them later to learn from them - how amazing would that be?) this song would fit nicely with a montage of scenes of one flying without wings - or perhaps playing as you travel through time...

Episode 3 features his new single 'Ready 2 Go' featuring Bloc Party's Kele Okereke on vocals!
In this episode his fictional 'manageur' 'LaFaille' comes up with the idea to shoot his new video at France's most prestigious football stadium - the Stade De France - in his ongoing effort to help Solveig reach the top. The video was shot in just one take on March 29th during a game between France and Croatia. 'Ready 2 Go' is the official second single from his forthcoming full length album 'Smash' - which is scheduled for release in June... Enjoy!
