SummersRadio™ Presents... 'Love Stinks 2! - A Valentine's DaySpectacular'! New Remix! Roxy Music - 'Love Is The Drug' (Todd Terje 2012 Disco Dub)
Our special 'Love Stinks 2! - A Valentine's Day Spectacular' continues as we kill two stones with one bird with this 4:20 post! Roxy Music's classic 1975 single 'Love Is The Drug' has been remixed by Oslo Norway's Terje Olsen aka Todd Terje.
SummersRadio™ New Music! 'Kitsune Maison Compilation 12: The Good Fun Issue'! Computer Magic - 'Ex Believer'/ Lemaitre - 'Excuse Me' I've always liked the 'Kitsune Maison' compilation series put out by the French music and fashion label Kitsune - as they feature both electronic and indie rock songs and artists - and their newest edition is no exception! 'Kitsune Maison Compilation 12: The Good Fun Issue' features 15 tracks and is available on cd and as a download - with itunes featuring a bonus 16th track. I've chosen two of my favorites - one more indie leaning tune, and one more electronic!
First up we have Computer Magic - a band from Brooklyn that are currently unsigned - aside from this song that's been scooped up by Kitsune of course. Although the live incarnation of Computer Magic features four members, it's actually the solo project of a 21 year old student named Danielle aka Danz. We previously featured her cover of John Lennon's '(Just Like) Starting Over' back in July which you can revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/07/summersradio-new-music-computer-magic.html
Computer Magic's beautiful vocals and harmonies remind me a bit of The School - and musically speaking they both have a dreamy 60's pop sound - but this song's a bit trippier. It's funny too that The School's debut album was called 'Loveless Unbeliever' - and this song is called 'Ex Believer'! (you can go back to School as it were here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2010/12/summersradio-best-of-2010-school.html) :)
I love the spacey production on this song, and the lyrics - especially the line 'What's the sense of being in myself when I'm so far away?' - brilliant! This the second track on the compilation... Enjoy!
Lemaitre are a duo from Oslo Norway that list Daft Punk, Boys Noize and Justice as influences. Indeed this song starts out sounding very much like Justice - but I also like the singers voice - and I really like how the track morphs into techno territory about 2:22 in!
This is Lemaitre's new song called 'Excuse Me' - the eighth track on the new 'Kitsune Maison Compilation 12: The Good Fun Issue'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music/ Remix! The Golden Filter 'Mother' (Au Palais Remix) NYC indie/ electronic duo The Golden Filter have collaborated with Norwegian film director Kristoffer Borgli to make a 10 minute short film called 'Syndromes', which was released on 10/10/11. The film revolves around the tragic story of a young girl with a 'secret talent'. The new Golden Filter song 'Mother' serves as the soundtrack for the film - and a new remix of the song has just been released online!
This is the new breezy 'Au Palais Remix' of 'Mother'... Enjoy!
Bonus Track! If you're interested in the film 'Syndrome' itself, here's the official video for the original version of 'Mother' which features scenes from the film - or better still you can watch the film in it's entirety from The Golden Filter's official website here: http://www.thegoldenfilter.com/
This is the original version of 'Mother'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Downloads! Royksopp - 'Shores Of Easy'/ The Irrepressibles - 'In This Shirt' (RYXP Edit) Norway's Royksopp are giving away free presents! These presents come in the form of two free downloads from their official website - and they're not being stingy - the two songs combined (one original tune and one remix) clock in at nearly 25 minutes of quality music!
First up is a brand new ambient/ techno Royksopp track called 'Shores Of Easy' which the band says is 'best served when calm' - although even if you didn't feel that way initially the song will certainly soothe you into such a state. They describe it as 'a perfect soundtrack to that borderline state between being awake and being asleep – the state where everything seems possible.' They also mention that this song is not indicitive of what their fifth album will sound like - although I wouldn't mind at all if it was!
Both this song and the remix posted further below are available as a free download from Royksopp's official website here: http://royksopp.com/track-of-the-moment
This is 'Shores Of Easy'... Enjoy!
And here's your other present - Royksopp's remix of The Irrepressibles 'In This Shirt'. The Irrepressibles are a ten member 'orchestral ensemble' from London that released their debut album called 'Mirror Mirror' last year. They just officially released an EP for 'In This Shirt' earlier this month - which features this remix from Royksopp - as well as remixes from Hercules & Love Affair and Zero 7.
SummersRadio™ New Remixes! Austra - 'Beat And The Pulse' (Still Going Remix)/ 'Lose It' (120 Days Remix) Toronto's Austra have released a new EP called 'Sparkle' featuring loads of new remixes! The digital version of 'Sparkle' (which is available now) features 10 (!) remixes and the 12" vinyl version (released August 23rd) features six remixes. The vinyl features one remix of 'Spellwork', two remixes of 'Lose It' and three remixes of 'Beat And The Pulse'. The digital version features those same tracks plus an additional four remixes of 'Lose It'.
'Sparkle' follow's the release of the band's debut album called 'Feel It Break' in May - which was shortlisted for Canada's Polaris Music Prize just last month. Lead singer/ songwriter Katie Stelmanis is also featured on the new Death In Vegas single called 'Your Loft' which you can check out here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/07/summersradio-new-music-death-in-vegas.html
SummersRadio™ New Remix! Depeche Mode - 'Puppets' (Royksopp Remix) It's been over 3 weeks since I posted the first new 2011 remixes to surface from Depeche Mode's 'Remixes 2' album, which is due out on June 6th.
Another one of the new 2011 remixes has shown up online this week - a remix of 'Puppets' from their very first album 'Speak & Spell'. 'Speak & Spell' was released in 1981 and is their only album to feature Vince Clarke as a member of the band. Clarke wrote most of the songs on the record, but then departed that same year to form Yazoo with Alison Moyet (and later Erasure with Andy Bell in 1985).
This new remix is from Norway's Royksopp... Enjoy!
