SummersRadio™ New Remix! Paperclip People - 'Throw' (Slam's RTM Remix)
Paperclip People (aka techno legend Carl Craig) have just released a new remix of their club classic 'Throw'! 'Throw' was first released in 1994 in the U.K. on the Open label - with the original version of the song clocking in at over 14 minutes long! You may also know LCD Soundsystem's cover version of it - which was released as a 12" single in 2010 - and included as a bonus track on their 'This Is Happening' album on itunes.
A new remix by Glasgow duo Slam has just been released this week on Craig's own Planet E Communications label, and it's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/throw-slams-rtm-remix/901392
Slam are respectful of the original but punch it up just enough - it's starts out quite similar but you'll feel it kick in deeper around 1:05 in. This is the new 'Slam's RTM Remix' of 'Throw'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! BMG & Derek Plaslaiko - 'Is Your Mother Home?' (Original Mix)
BMG & Derek Plaslaiko have just released an amazing (and highlarious) new EP called 'Is Your Mother Home?' this week! The first thing that drew me to this release was the cover art - I like the old school van and how it's not quite all there - like it's travelling through time and space:
Then the cheeky tracklisting gave me a laugh:

Then I saw that it's released on a label called Interdimensional Transmissions - and I knew that I was quite possibly onto something wondrous even before I'd given the EP a listen. And then... I did. And now that I've done so I hereby declare the title track to be a SummersRadio™ Stonerhouse™ instant classic!
Brendan M Gillen aka BMG is a founding member of the Detroit band Ectomorph. He also started the Interdimensional Transmissions label and he 'enjoys playing Ableton like a video game and making analog equipment growl like an acid motorcycle.' Derek Plaslaiko also hails from Detroit (he's now based in Berlin) and is 'an indie rocker inspired by techno'.
'Is Your Mother Home?' features majorly trippy keyboard sounds and an amusing vocal dialogue that tells (one side of) the story of a gentleman on the make who offers someone at a bus stop a ride - but not before shopping for some munchies first. The interest is mutual - he's not the first one to say 'you're cute' so it's quite amusing as opposed to being creepy! I reckon that listening to this song would be akin to a visit to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory - on acid - if Will lived in an afterhours club - in Detroit!
The 'Is Your Mother Home?' EP is available on both itunes and Beatport - it's a mere $3.99 on itunes for all five tracks. SummersRadio™ New Music! Peter Horrevorts - 'Fire In The Disco' The Netherlands Peter Horrevorts has released a new EP on Germany's Kanzleramt label called 'Fire In The Disco'! It features two tracks - 'Fire In The Disco' and 'Smoke In The Club'.
'Fire In The Disco' mixes an array of genres together - it's mostly tech house but with sprinkles of reggae and ska, techno, and disco - with some great production - featuring plenty of keyboard effects... Enjoy!
Bonus Track! Well I could hardly post a song called 'Fire In The Disco' without thinking of Electric Six's classic 'Danger! High Voltage'! Electric Six just released their eighth studio album called 'Heartbeats And Brainwaves' earlier this month on Metropolis Records, but they achieved their first major success with this song in 2003 - fueled in part by the fact that it featured the White Stripes Jack White on backing vocals (under the psuedonym John S O'Leary) - as both bands were part of the Detroit garage rock scene.

SummersRadio™ 500th Post!!! Classic! Model 500 - 'Neptune' Today we hit a milestone - our 500th post - and in less than a year - hoo-ray!! It seems fitting to begin the celebration with a classic - so a song featuring the 'Godfather Of Techno' is apt. Model 500 is a pseudonym for Juan Atkins - who is largely credited as the originator of techno - Detroit techno in particular - along with Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson.
'Neptune' is the third song on the five track 'Sonic Sunset' EP - which was released in 1994 on the legendary Belgian label R & S Records - and it's nothing short of an incredible piece of music that sounds just as amazing today.
This is a great weekend for concerts in Vancouver - last night Germany's techno/ minimal/ tech house duo Booka Shade (who've also recorded on the R & S label) performed an excellent live show at 560 - tonight I'm off to SHAHdj's 4th Anniversary party featuring Blu Mar Ten at the Red Room - and tomorrow synth pop pioneers the Human League are at the Rickshaw! So it's a busy weekend then, but I will post more tunes to celebrate our 500th post soon.

SummersRadio™ New Music! Art Department featuring Seth Troxler - 'Living The Life' (Original Mix) The Art Department is a duo consisting of Toronto producers Kenny Glasgow and Jonny White. They released their debut album called 'The Drawing Room' last month on the Crosstown Rebels label. This week they released their new single 'Living The Life' - a two track EP containing this original mix and the 'ABA Therapy Version' - both featuring vocals from Detroit's Seth Troxler. The slowed down voice over bits make for a trippy and amusing tune... Enjoy!

Tiga - 'Love Don't Dance Here Anymore' (C2 Remix 2) Montreal's Tiga has just released his latest EP on itunes for 'Love Don't Dance Here Anymore' which first appeared on his 2009 album 'Ciao!'. The original album version was produced by Soulwax and this EP features 2 new remixes from Detroit techno legend Carl Craig. The original clocked in at a mere 10 minutes long so it's now been extended to over 12 and 13 minutes! There's also an instrumental version available - in case you haven't noticed itunes is a bit weird when it comes to songs over 8 minutes long - most often making them available as full album only purchases. Such is the case here - but it's quite a deal - as the 3 tracks combined are over 36 minutes long and the 'album' price for all three songs is only $1.99! This version is known as the 'C2 Remix 2'...
