SummersRadio™ New Remix! Depeche Mode - 'My Little Universe' (Boys Noize Remix)
Depeche Mode is releasing a new remix EP for their song 'My Little Universe' on June 23rd! 'My Little Universe' is a track from their 2013 album 'Delta Machine' that will see new remixes from Boys Noize and Djedjotronic - the full tracklisting is tbc - and it will likely be a Beatport exclusive.
Boys Noize have just posted their remix of the track on Soundcloud today - and they slowly morph the original into a rather stunning acid infused techno monster... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Depeche Mode - 'Should Be Higher' (Dominatrix Remix)
Dominatrix has just released a new remix of Depeche Mode's 'Should Be Higher' online! Although 'Soothe My Soul' is already scheduled as the second single to be released from their latest album 'Delta Machine' (May 10th), 'Should Be Higher' is an obvious album standout and I reckon it would make a fine choice for the third single.
Andy Motke aka Dominatrix is a German 'Depeche Mode Remixer' who's remixed over 100 of the band's songs. You can check out some of his other remixes m'here: http://official.fm/dominatrix
This is his new remix of 'Should Be Higher' and if it's to you're liking you can download a copy for free by clicking on the download icon below. Dave Gahan gets a bit higher on this track - vocally speaking - sounding a bit like Simon Le Bon or Alison Moyet on the higher notes. The song has a nice swagger to it as well - with the NIN 'Closer' style electronic drums. The message here is clear - you should be higher... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Video! Depeche Mode - 'Soothe My Soul' (Official Video)
Depeche Mode have just released the video for their new single 'Soothe My Soul' online! 'Soothe My Soul' has just been confirmed as the second official single to be released from their new album (available everywhere this week) 'Delta Machine' - following 'Heaven' which came out in January - and it's their 50th (!) single overall.
The video for 'Soothe My Soul' finds Dave Gahan on the hunt - yes, like most men he's just a sneaky snake who wants to get laid... Enjoy!
Depeche Mode are releasing their new single called 'Heaven' this Friday! 'Heaven' is the first official single from their forthcoming new album called 'Delta Machine' which is released March 26th on Columbia Records. Here's the album cover art:
'Delta Machine' - their 13th studio album - will be available as a standard 13 track cd, and as a Deluxe Edition featuring a a second disc containing four more new songs plus a 28 page hardcover booklet.
'Heaven' will be released as a two part cd single (and download no doubt) - the first part features 'Heaven' as well as a b-side song called 'All That's Mine' (which also appears on disc two of the Deluxe Edition). Part two or the 'Maxi' single features the original plus four remixes - the 'Owlle Remix', 'Steps To Heaven Remix', 'Blawan Remix' and the 'Matthew Dear vs Audion Remix'.
'Heaven' will be officially released on Friday with the premiere of it's video on Vevo - but the audio has surfaced on the world wide web today so we can enjoy an early listen. The song is rather subdued for a leadoff single, particularly compared to the first unofficial single 'Angel' - but then we always have the remixes to look forward to as well... Enjoy!
* Update * It's only 5pm Thursday here in Vancouver - but it's midnight in the U.K. now - so we can watch the video premiere now as well - Cheers!
Depeche Mode held a press conference today to announce the first details of their 2013 stadium tour - and they also offered us the first taste of their new album! The press conference was held in Paris earlier today and started with this video (below) of a new song that is most likely called 'Angel Of Love'. (update: it's just 'Angel' actually) It was revealed later in the question period that followed that it doesn't officially have a title yet - nor does their forthcoming new studio album (their thirteenth). They did however announce the full details of the European portion of next year's worldwide tour.
The 34 date tour covering 25 countries begins in Tel Aviv on May 7th and wraps up July 29th in Minsk. The full list of cities with ticket links can be found here on their official website: http://countdown.depechemode.com/ There will also be a North American leg to follow - but those dates are still a mystery for now.
So this untitled new song (let's call it 'Angel Of Love') is what one might call traditional Depeche Mode. It resembles their 1993 single 'I Feel You' a bit - particularly around 1:40 in. Martin Gore mentioned during the conference that he felt that the new material was a cross between 'Violator' and 'Songs Of Faith And Devotion' - 'optimistic' he said. 'Dark' a fan countered - 'Not to me' he replied. You can watch the full interview/ question period m'here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09hgbZ8GPoM
No word yet on whether or not this is just an album track or the first official single (a nice acid techno remix would be sweet) but naturally I'll keep you posted... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music/ Remix! James Benitez - 'Martin Gore' (Original Mix)/ Namito + Pig & Dan - 'The Stars Are Falling' (Rainer Weichhold & Nick Olivetti Remix)
Germany's BluFin label have just released their latest compilation called 'BluFin Loves Amsterdam 03'! The compilation features fifteen massive tracks including exclusive new remixes - and it's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/blufin-loves-amsterdam-03/981130
'Martin Gore' is the title track from James Benitez's latest EP, and the second track on the 'BluFin Loves Amsterdam 03' compilation - which features audio samples from an interview with the Depeche Mode mainstay. It doesn't sample Depeche Mode musically though - 'Martin Gore' has a hypnotic Giorgio Moroder influenced disco/ techno vibe with some nice Rinocerose style guitar bits - and even some bonus cowbell... Enjoy!
'BluFin Loves Amsterdam 03' opens with this new remix ofNamito + Pig & Dan's song 'The Stars Are Falling' by Rainer Weichhold & Nick Olivetti - a perfect song to listen to whilst perhaps well sedated in the wee hours of the morning... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Soulsavers Featuring Dave Gahan - 'Longest Day' (plus full album stream)
British duo Soulsavers are releasing their new album featuring the vocals of Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan next week! 'The Light The Dead See' is the band's fourth album and is released on May 21st on the V2 Records label. The album has twelve tracks and features the lyrics and vocals of Gahan throughout - on all but two short instrumental tracks.
This is the first official single from the album called 'Longest Day' - sounding a bit like some of Depeche Mode's more gospel tinged moments... Enjoy!
My first impression is that this album has a lot of depth - it's definitely worth checking out - early favorites are the second track 'In The Morning', 'Bitterman' (track 9), 'Take' (track 11) and the album closer 'Tonight'.
'Single Blip' is their second EP featuring the title track plus four remixes - one each from Mathew Jonson, Terence Fixmer, Byetone, and Wolfgang Voigt - and it's currently available exclusively on Beatport here: http://www.beatport.com/#release/ep2-single-blip/870381
Unlike the first single/ EP 'Spock', 'Single Blip' does not feature the vocals of Martin Gore - it's an instrumental track - so it sounds a bit more techno than say perhaps a new Depeche Mode single. Both tracks are set to be featured on their collaborative forthcoming ten track debut album called 'SSSS' - which is expected to be largely instrumental - and is set for release on March 12th on Mute.
First up we have the 'Original Mix' of 'Single Blip'... Enjoy!
And this is the rather leisurely remix by Berlin's Mathew Jonson... Enjoy!
I wonder if we'll have to wait another 30 years before these two sneaky snakes collaborate again :) Here's the cover art and full tracklisting for 'SSSS':
SummersRadio™ New Remixes + Free Downloads! Depeche Mode vs Motor - 'Personal Man Made Jesus Machine'/ New Order - 'Blue Monday' (Behind The Wheel Remix)
One of the things I like about doing this blog is the excitement that comes with tracking the page views - and what parts of the world people are looking and listening from. I've always been a bit of a numbers freak - from making my own weekly Top 50 song charts when I was about 11 (because they were better than the existing ones of course!) to a general interest in city populations and other such things. You may have noticed that I often post at certain times as well - 1:11, 11:11, 3:33 - and of course 4:20 is a popular one here in Vansterdam - as some people occasionally call our beautiful city! :)
Anyway, sometime tonight or in the wee hours of the morning the blog will hit a bit of a milestone in the all-time views so far department. I won't give away numbers at this time - not until I hit the millions - but it's a healthy start for 16 official months on the world wide web. And how shall we celebrate this achievement? Well with music of course - and some bonus free downloads as well!
Special thanks to each and every one of you who's viewed SummersRadio™ - and to our biggest supporting countries/ areas - Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Russia, Hungary, Malaysia, and Brazil - Cheers! ♥ Please tell your friends and loved ones about it too! ♥
Andy Motke aka Dominatrix RMX is a producer from 'a small town' in Germany who appears to be a bit a of Depeche Mode fan. In fact he has 100 songs posted on Soundcloud - all of them either Depeche Mode remixes, or mashups that feature the band! You can check out more of them here: http://soundcloud.com/dominatrix-1
Today we shall feature his two latest mashups/ remixes - starting with this one - 'Personal Man Made Jesus Machine', which is a mashup of the new Motor single 'Man Made Machine' that features Martin L. Gore on vocals. I featured the original track in December (which you can revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/12/summersradio-new-music-motor-featuring.html) and mentioned how it resembles DM's hit 'Personal Jesus'. Thus it comes as no surprise that another massive Mode fan has mashed them up together.
This is Dominatrix RMX's new mashup of the two songs which he lists as Depeche Motor Mode - 'Personal Man Made Jesus Machine' - and if the song is to your liking you can download a copy for free on his Soundcloud page here: http://soundcloud.com/dominatrix-1/depeche-motor-mode-personal Enjoy!
This is another new mashup from Dominatrix RMX - of New Order's 'Blue Monday' and Depeche Mode's 'Behind The Wheel' - which is also available as a free download here: http://soundcloud.com/dominatrix-1/new-order-blue-monday-behind (or simply click on the download icon below)
This is his 'Behind The Wheel Remix' of New Order's club classic 'Blue Monday'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Motor featuring Martin L. Gore - 'Man Made Machine' (official video)/ (Black Asteroid Remix) Motor have just released their new single - and it features the vocals of Depeche Mode's Martin L. Gore! Motor are a London based duo consisting of France's OlyMotor, and Bryan Black who is from the U.S. Although primarily a techno act, they're new album (their fourth) is going to be a bit different, as it will be a vocal driven electronic album. Besides Martin L. Gore the album will also feature the vocals of another electronic legend - Gary Numan - as well as Douglas McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb), and Billy Ray Martin (Electribe 101) among others.
'Man Made Machine' is the first official single and video from the as yet untitled forthcoming new album - and it's been released as a four track EP which is currently available exclusively on Beatport. http://www.beatport.com/#release/man-made-machine-ep/847683
The EP features the 'Original Extended Mix', plus remixes from Radio Slave, Chris Liebing, and Black Asteroid (an alias of Motor themselves). First up we have the official video - which is an edited version of the original. Not surprisingly the track sounds rather like Depeche Mode (particularly their hit 'Personal Jesus') as any vaguely electronic song featuring Gore on vocals will. (If you didn't catch the post on Martin Gore's new project VCMG with Vince Clarke earlier this month you can do so here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/12/summersradio-new-music-vcmg-vince.html)
Martin sounds a bit different than usual here though - he's singing deeper which gives the song a darker feel - this is the official video for Motor's new single 'Man Made Machine'... Enjoy!
This is the 'Black Asteroid Remix' of 'Man Made Machine'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! VCMG (Vince Clarke & Martin Gore) - 'Spock' (Original Mix)/ (Edit Select Remix) I'm sure that I wasn't the only Depeche Mode fan that thought it was a bit odd that Vince Clarke remixed their song 'Behind The Wheel' earlier this year for their 'Remixes 2: 81 - 11' release. Why would he suddenly choose to be involved with a band he left 30 years prior? Well it makes a bit more sense now - as Vince Clarke and Martin Gore have announced that they will be releasing a techno album together in the new year under the moniker VCMG!
The first taste of the album has been released this week in the form of 'EP 1: Spock' which is currently available exclusively on Beatport (in some parts of the world) and is set for a full release on December 12th - both digitally and on vinyl. The 'Spock' EP features five tracks (four on the 12") - the 'Original Mix' plus remixes from Edit Select aka Tony Scott, Karl O'Connor, DVS1 aka Derek VanScoten, and XOQ aka Uberzone - who also produced their debut album, which is due for release in the spring. It will be interesting to see how this project does sales wise. It's quite possible that it may remain somewhat underground appealing to mostly hardcore DM fans - but just imagine if these two decided to tour together - how massive would that show be?!
Apparently Vince Clarke had been listening to a lot of 'minimal dance music' and decided last year that he wanted to make a techno album. He sent Gore an e-mail asking if he'd be interested in collaborating and they began at first via e-mail while working in their respective studios, and they eventually met in person to discuss the project at a festival they were both performing at in London in May.
A techno album is certainly no big stretch musically speaking for either artist - as both gentlemen have had massively successful careers releasing largely keyboard based music for three full decades - both starting with Depeche Mode and then later with Yaz and Erasure for Clarke. While the origin of techno often points to Detroit in the mid to late 80's, one can listen to any number of Depeche Mode remixes around this same time period (and even prior to it) and hear many similar sounds.
So how does the first EP sound? Well it's a bit like Depeche Mode (shocker!) but without any conventional pop song structures - or vocals - so a lot like some of DM's remixes then! This is the first single from VCMG - 'Spock' - let's begin with the 'Original Mix' ... Enjoy!
This is the 'Edit Select Remix' - it's a bit darker and simplistic - and sounds like it would be well suited for late night highway driving, use in a film soundtrack, or for having sex to :) ... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Depeche Mode - 'Never Let Me Down Again' (Dunproofin Remix) Andy Dunproofin is a dj/ producer from Aberdeen Britian who's just posted his new remix of Depeche Mode's 'Never Let Me Down Again'!
The 'Dunproofin Remix' has a nice mid-tempo strut with some gurgling acid style keyboards lurking quietly in the mix - that later bubble to the surface in the last few minutes. If this remix is to your liking you can download it for free from the link on Dunproofin's official blog here: http://www.dunproofin.com/
This is the 'Dunproofin Remix' of Depeche Mode's 'Never Let Me Down Again'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remixes! As you may have noticed by my enthusiasm for the new Depeche Mode remix album in previous posts - I am a longtime Mode fan! Clearly I'm not the only one, as the April 7th post of Alex Metric's remix of 'Personal Jesus' sits at number 1 on my most viewed posts - with a very comfortable lead over all the others in the top 10! And here we are two months later - and 'Remixes 2: 81-11' is finally released!
So today we shall celebrate with 2 more of the new 2011 remixes - including one which isn't even on the cd! I was checking out today's new releases on itunes earlier and noticed that they list 39 tracks for the 'Deluxe Version' - which is the equivalent of the 3cd set. But the cd has 37 tracks... first I noticed that there's an edited version of Alex Metric's remix of 'Personal Jesus' - but unless it's radically different who really wants an edited version?! Then I saw the other additonal track - not just an edit, but another brand new 2011 remix! 'Master And Servant' (RSS Remix) is a remix exclusive to itunes - and the good news is that there's none of the 'album purchase only' restrictive nonsense that itunes occasionally uses to screw it's customers with! So if you plan on buying the physical cd like myself you can download this one exclusive remix on it's own. And if that's not good enough news I must also say that it's an awesome remix - it even has some squelchy acid techno bits in it!
This is the new 'RSS Remix' of 'Master And Servant'... Enjoy!
Another one of the new remixes that I was eager to hear - but it wasn't posted anywhere on the interweb yet - was the Joebot remix of 'A Question Of Time'. Well it's surfaced now of course - here's the 'Joebot Presents "Radio Face" Remix'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix! Depeche Mode - 'In Chains' (Alan Wilder Remix) While I'm still anxiously wating to hear the new 2011 remix of 'A Question Of Time', it's still under wraps - but another new remix from the forthcoming album 'Remixes 2: 81-11' has shown up on the interweb. Like the 'Behind The Wheel' remix posted below - this new 2011 remix of 'In Chains' is by a former member of the band! Alan Wilder announced his departure from Depeche Mode on his birthday - June 1st 1995. Since then he has concentrated on his other band Recoil, in addition to doing production and remix work. 'In Chains' is the opening track on the bands last studio album 'Sounds Of The Universe' which was released in 2009 - this is the 'Alan Wilder Remix'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix! Depeche Mode - 'Behind The Wheel' (Vince Clarke Remix) Another one of the new 2011 Depeche Mode remixes has surfaced online - hoo-ray! Depeche Mode release their new remix compilation on June 6th called 'Remixes 2: 81-11' - with the triple cd set containing a total of 37 remixes - and 13 of them are brand new for 2011! I've previously featured the new remixes from Alex Metric, Eric Prydz and Royksopp - and today we have a new remix by former band member Vince Clarke! In fact this is the first time in 30 years that Clarke has worked with his former band mates - this is his new remix of 'Behind The Wheel'... Enjoy!
Rare Remix! Depeche Mode - 'Behind The Wheel/ Route 66 (Megamix)' (Remixed by Ivan Ivan) The original b-side for the 'Behind The Wheel' single was a cover of 'Route 66' which was written by Bobby Troup and first became a hit for Nat King Cole in the 1940's! This remix is rare - depending on where you live - as it was only released in the U.S. in 1987. This is a mashup of 'Behind The Wheel' and 'Route 66' by Ivan Ivan... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix! Depeche Mode - 'Puppets' (Royksopp Remix) It's been over 3 weeks since I posted the first new 2011 remixes to surface from Depeche Mode's 'Remixes 2' album, which is due out on June 6th.
Another one of the new 2011 remixes has shown up online this week - a remix of 'Puppets' from their very first album 'Speak & Spell'. 'Speak & Spell' was released in 1981 and is their only album to feature Vince Clarke as a member of the band. Clarke wrote most of the songs on the record, but then departed that same year to form Yazoo with Alison Moyet (and later Erasure with Andy Bell in 1985).
This new remix is from Norway's Royksopp... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ Classic Remix! Depeche Mode - 'A Pain That I'm Used To' (Jacques Lu Cont Remix) I would imagine that the easy part of compiling a tracklist for a new Depeche Mode remix album would be adding the new remixes. When it comes to choosing just 24 classic remixes out of hundreds of options it must be hard to decide which ones to go with - so I'm glad to see that one of my favorite remixes of their more recent material made the cut!
'A Pain That I'm Used To' was released as the second single from their 2005 release 'Playing The Angel'. This remix is from legendary British producer Jacques Lu Cont - also known as Stuart Price (and by numerous other monikers) and although this may be considered late in their respective careers - I consider this song/ remix to be one of their finest individual pieces of work... play it loud and Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix! Depeche Mode - 'Never Let Me Down Again' (Eric Prydz Remix) As mentioned in the previous post Depeche Mode are releasing a new remix compilation on June 6th called 'Remixes 2: 81-11'! The full triple cd/ lp/ download set will contain remixes of songs spanning their lengthy thirty year career - 37 in total - 13 of which are brand new. Check out the post below for one of the new 'Personal Jesus 11' remixes and the full tracklisting.
Here we have another one of the brand new remixes - Eric Prydz remix of 'Never Let Me Down Again'! 'Never Let Me Down Again' was first released as the second single from Depeche Mode's sixth studio album - 1987's 'Music For The Masses' - which lived up to it's name - especially in North America where it sold over 2 million copies, and a total of 6 million worldwide.
If you're a fan of dance music no doubt you're already familiar with Swedish dj/ producer Eric Prydz. Although he has yet to release his first artist album (word has it that one is scheduled for this summer) he's released dozens of singles under his own name and other aliases (most notably Pryda) - including the 2004 number one 'Call On Me' - the song based on Steve Winwood's 'Valerie' that featured the popular sexually agressive workout video. He's also done dozens of remixes including the massive 2007 remix of Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)' which was renamed 'Proper Education' - which you can revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2010/12/summersradio-classic-eric-prydz-vs.html
This is the new Eric Prydz remix of 'Never Let Me Down Again'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix! Depeche Mode - 'Personal Jesus' (Alex Metric Remix) Depeche Mode are releasing a new remix compilation on June 6th! (in Europe - the 7th in North America) It's called 'Remixes 2: 81-11' and will be available as a single cd, triple cd set, digital download, and a six piece vinyl set! The single disc version contains 13 remixes - 6 of them brand new - and the triple disc set contains a whopping 37 remixes spanning their entire career - a total of 13 brand new remixes (1 on the first disc and the rest on the third). I suppose the casual fan might just cherry pick the new remixes off of itunes - but no doubt I'll be pre-ordering the 3 cd set soon enough! And if 13 new remixes isn't notable enough this release will also be the first time that both current and former members of the band have worked on the same project - as it features remixes from both Alan Wilder and Vince Clarke!
'Personal Jesus 11' is going to be released as an official single from 'Remixes 2: 81-11'- here's one of 3 new remixes of the song - this one by London's Alex Metric... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ Classic Remix! Depeche Mode - 'Peace' (Japanese Popstars Remix) The Gorillaz post below got me thinking of my favorite Japanese Popstars remix - this one of Depeche Mode's single 'Peace' released in 2009 - the first time I heard this in a club I was blown away by the production... Enjoy!
