SummersRadio™ New Cover! Emika - 'Let's Dance' (Shocklee-Emikaized Version)
Emika has just released a new cover of David Bowie's 'Let's Dance' online! Berlin's Emika is a songwriter and producer and she's chosen to cover this song as a tribute to Bowie. If you happen to live in Germany 50,000 free downloads of this track are being given away through Rolling Stone (German Edition).
Emika will also be performing the song live at the David Bowie Retrospective in Berlin at the Martin-Gropius-Bau on June 15th. There's no word yet as to whether or not this cover will be made available commercially.
'Let's Dance' was originally released by Bowie as the title track and first single from his 1983 album. Emika's version is structurally the same but it has a completely different feel to it. It's much more atmospheric - the production is reminiscent of some of Andrew Weatherall's work - and her delivery is very seductive... Enjoy!

As I was listening to the EP (particularly the two tracks I've chosen here) I was enjoying how each song is quite a journey - starting in one place and then taking you elsewhere - more than once. It's like when you go to a party with multiple rooms with different music - and as you're checking the place out and walking from room to room your timing is in synch - so as you walk into each room you manage to hear the highpoints of each night in each room! It would be a tough decision to decide which room to hang out in - as it was to decide which track to feature here - so I've gone for two :) That may be the effect that Schumacher is going for as both tracks here are included on is upcoming new album called... 'Rooms'!
'Fangbanger' is the second track on the 'Vorfreude' EP and I like how it hypnotizes from the very start. Please note that the label has only posted edits of these songs so far - the full length version of 'Fangbanger' is nearly ten mesmerizing minutes long (9:47 - as is the title track below at 9:45)... Toby Dreher is an artist/ producer from Berlin who's just released a new remix EP called 'Freiluft In Remix'. The EP features five tracks - three versions of 'Chordhose', a song called 'Imagination' and this remix of 'M.R.T. 2012'. The original version of all three tracks appear on his 'Freiluft' album which was just released on July 2nd on the Rotary Cocktail Records label. Both the album and this remix EP are available on both itunes and Beatport - just half the price on itunes!
Let's begin with the last track on the EP - this is the 'Kotelett & Zadak Remix' of 'M.R.T. 2012'. The song features impeccable production - some cowbell even - and the couple on the cover art appear to be having a game of nude Frisbee on the beach... good times! Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Saschienne - 'Unknown' (Original Mix)/ 'Knopfauge' (Original Mix)
Saschienne are a duo from Berlin consisting of Sascha Funke and Julienne Dessagne. They released their debut album called 'Unknown' in March on the Kompakt label, and they've just released the title track as the first official single. The two track EP features the 'Original Mix' as well as the 'Dixon Mix'.
The title 'Unknown' doesn't mean that the song is without a name - but instead refers to the unknown itself - as the Julienne sings "This Unknown... keeps us together, brings us closer." The duo - who are also married - remind me a bit of Everything But The Girl - if they were perhaps based in Germany instead of England - as their album is an ecelectic mix of electronica and deep house. Julienne's vocals are also reminicent of Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval on some of her electronic collaborations.
