Depeche Mode - 'Never Let Me Down Again' (Eric Prydz Remix) As mentioned in the previous post Depeche Mode are releasing a new remix compilation on June 6th called 'Remixes 2: 81-11'! The full triple cd/ lp/ download set will contain remixes of songs spanning their lengthy thirty year career - 37 in total - 13 of which are brand new. Here we have another one of the brand new remixes - Eric Prydz remix of 'Never Let Me Down Again'! 'Never Let Me Down Again' was first released as the second single from Depeche Mode's sixth studio album - 1987's 'Music For The Masses' - which lived up to it's name - especially in North America where it sold over 2 million copies, and a total of 6 million worldwide.
If you're a fan of dance music no doubt you're already familiar with Swedish dj/ producer Eric Prydz. Although he has yet to release his first artist album (word has it that one is scheduled for this summer) he's released dozens of singles under his own name and other aliases (most notably Pryda) - including the 2004 number one 'Call On Me' - the song based on Steve Winwood's 'Valerie' that featured the popular sexually agressive workout video. Company B - 'Fascinated' The new Prok & Fitch track 'Yalla' that I posted yesterday samples this song (just for a few seconds at 2:25, then for the entire breakdown at 3:33) - so I thought it a good opportunity to post this original! Company B were a Latin freestyle dance trio that formed in 1986. 'Fascinated' was their first single - first released on an indie label called The Summer in 1986. It became a hit in the Miami area, and then when released by Atlantic in 1987 it became a number one U.S. club smash! Enjoy...

Friendly Fires - 'Strangelove' 'Strangelove' was Depeche Mode's 18th single in the U.K. - released in 1987 (88 in North America) - and was from their brilliant 'Music For The Masses' album. This August Friendly Fires recorded the song for use in a Gucci Guilty perfume ad in the U.K. I was a bit weary when I first heard about this - but it's a grower - their cover is faithful enough to the original to be respectable but also different enough to be interesting...
