New York City duo Holy Ghost! have just released their new single 'Teenagers In Heat' online today! 'Teenagers In Heat' is a brand new single although apparently it will not feature on their forthcoming new album called 'Dynamics' - which is released September 10th on DFA Records. 'Teenagers In Heat' was co-produced by label boss James Murphy and it sounds like the band have travelled back in time to 1981 as the rather chipper tune would sit well aside songs from New Order, Men Without Hats and Rational Youth.
If you miss out on the free download the two track single (the original plus an instrumental) will be available on iTunes (Canada) on July 16th. The song was just posted on YouTube - it has a mere 11 views so far - I reckon that will change pretty quick... Enjoy!

Pharmakon has just released a new album called 'Abandon'! Margaret Chardiet aka Pharmakon is an experimental musician from New York City who's been making 'power electronics/ death industrial music' for about five years. 'Abandon' is her first proper studio album - and her first recording to get a wide release - through Sacred Bones Records. 'Abandon' features five tracks including the 27 minute 'Sour Sap' and it's available now on iTunes.

New York City's Grass Is Greener have just released their debut EP called 'Start Again'! Grass is Greener are a duo consisting of SR SERGE (Sergei Sklyarenko) and EBAR (Eric Reithler-Barros). Their first EP features four tracks - the original mix of the title track plus three remixes.
It's released on the Nurvous label - the new indie dance/ nu disco sub label of the legendary Nervous Records - and it's available on both itunes and Beatport (half the price on itunes).
'Start Again' is basically a rework of Billy Idol's hit 'White Wedding' from his self titled album released in 1982. The music is completely different however and the vocals are slowed down to create a fun new dance tune that's also instantly recognizable - this is the 'Teenage Mutants Remix'... Enjoy!

Yesterday's post from Erika Spring reminded me of this classic song from Ivy - as both singers have a similar soothing sweetness in their voices. It's also an unusually hot summer day here in Vancouver for August, so I find thoughts of a cool ocean breeze comforting today - and as an added bit of synchronicity I noticed that both ladies only feature a portion of their faces on the cover art!
Ivy is an indie pop/ electronic trio from New York City featuring vocalist Dominique Durand. 'Edge Of The Ocean' was a single from their third album called 'Long Distance' which was released in the summer of 2001 on the Vancouver based Nettwerk label. Some songs just sound like summer - and this is certainly one of them - this is the 'Duotone Mix' from the 'Edge Of The Ocean' EP... Enjoy!

Blonds are a duo based in New York City - a couple consisting of Jordy Asher and Cari Rae - who are releasing their debut album called 'The Bad Ones' on August 7th! The Golden Filter 'Mother' (Au Palais Remix) NYC indie/ electronic duo The Golden Filter have collaborated with Norwegian film director Kristoffer Borgli to make a 10 minute short film called 'Syndromes', which was released on 10/10/11. The film revolves around the tragic story of a young girl with a 'secret talent'. The new Golden Filter song 'Mother' serves as the soundtrack for the film - and a new remix of the song has just been released online!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Psychic Ills - 'Mind Haze' New York's experimental rock outfit Psychic Ills have just released the first new song from their forthcoming album! The song is called 'Mind Haze' and their new album 'Hazed Dream' is set for release on Oct. 18th on the Sacred Bones Records label.
'Hazed Dream' will present a more focused sound from the band - guitarist/ vocalist/ keyboardist Tres Warren recently told The Wire magazine:
'Some developments in our lives led to new approaches. The music came out the old fashioned way...a way that had been avoided for a while. It was about putting some words to some chords and keeping it simple. Getting back to something. Feeling a feeling. Shaking out the NY brain boil. Movin' away from some old bad vibes, by creating some new good ones. Dreaming out the bad. Takin' it easy on ourselves, and those around us. This album lives in a sunny place. A half memory. SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Downloads! Murder Mystery - 'I Am (If You Are)'/ 'Problems' Murder Mystery are an indie rock/ pop band from New York City (not to be confused with a band with the same name from Detroit!) that have recently made their first video ever!
Murder Mystery 'usually' features vocals from Jeremy Coleman - but their two latest singles feature the vocals of his sister Laura - who's also the four piece band's drummer. They released their debut album called 'Are You Ready For The Heartache Cause Here It Comes' in 2007 and they've thus far released three new songs from their forthcoming second album.

SummersRadio™ Classic! Cub - 'New York City' Vancouver's Cub released their second album in 1995 called 'Come Out Come Out'. It included two covers - one of John Lennon & Yoko Ono's 'I'm Your Angel' and also the Go-Go's 'Vacation' - as well as a hidden dance track - a seven minute remix of their first hit 'Go Fish'.
