SummersRadio™ Classic! The Orb - 'Little Fluffy Clouds' (Live Remix) 'What were the skies like when you were young?' If you didn't already know SummersRadio™ transmits (as it were) from Club English Bay on beautiful English Bay in Vancouver's west end. This picture was taken recently from my livingroom window - and it reminded me of this classic from The Orb - not for the fluffy clouds so much as the vibrant colours and the line 'The most beautiful skies as a matter of fact'.
'Little Fluffy Clouds' was first released as a single in 1990 and was included on The Orb's debut album 'Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld' in 1991. It was re-released in 1993, and numerous remixes have also been released over the years. This is a very cool fan made video featuring some amazing time lapse footage... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ Happy New Year! Classic/ Rare Remix! World Party - 'Thank You World' (Remix) This is a rare remix of 'Thank You World' - the title track from World Party's now out of print nine track 1991 EP - remixed by Peter Lorimer.
The song has some great reflective lyrics and features some amazing trippy production. I particularly like the vocal sample exclusive to this remix that begins at 3:47 in - especially the line regarding the eyebrow pencil starting with 'Oh yeah - you could say I've got stress...'.

Ladytron - 'Ace Of Hz' (Punks Jump Up Remix) I first featured Ladytron's new single 'Ace Of Hz' way back in October when it was first released as part of the FIFA 11 soundtrack. Now it's just been released as an official single with 5 new remixes online today! This is my favorite remix of the lot - by London's Punks Jump Up - it starts out with some housey xylophone/ steel drum type sounds but gradually morphs into this disco/ techno hybrid with some cowbell along for the ride... Tiga - 'Love Don't Dance Here Anymore' (C2 Remix 2) Montreal's Tiga has just released his latest EP on itunes for 'Love Don't Dance Here Anymore' which first appeared on his 2009 album 'Ciao!'. The original album version was produced by Soulwax and this EP features 2 new remixes from Detroit techno legend Carl Craig. The original clocked in at a mere 10 minutes long so it's now been extended to over 12 and 13 minutes! There's also an instrumental version available - in case you haven't noticed itunes is a bit weird when it comes to songs over 8 minutes long - most often making them available as full album only purchases. Such is the case here - but it's quite a deal - as the 3 tracks combined are over 36 minutes long and the 'album' price for all three songs is only $1.99! This version is known as the 'C2 Remix 2'... White Lies - 'Bigger Than Us' (Walls Remix) I first featured White Lies new single back on Nov. 18th, when their new album's release still seemed too far away - but it's out next week! 'Ritual' is their second full length and it's out Monday in the U.K. and Tuesday here in North America. The regular cd contains ten tracks - the itunes download will feature two bonus remixes - although this isn't one of them! This remix will only be available for purchase physically on the limited edition boxed set which contains 2 cd's (one of remixes), six 7" singles and signed artwork! This version is nothing like the original - more spacious and electronic, but still awesome - this is the 'Walls Remix'... Enjoy!

Metric - 'Gold Guns Girls' (RIOT 87 Remix) Toronto's Metric announced their 'Fantasies' remix contest in conjunction with Indaba Music at the end of September and we're now a mere two weeks away from the winners being announced! There's an individual contest for each track on the album and each winner receives $1,000 cash - and most likely an official release as Metric is considering releasing a full remix album as well! As one of Metric's biggest fans it's hard to believe that it's been two whole months since I've posted any remixes - so it's certainly time for a new one!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Triple X - 'Feel The Same 2011' (Gary Caos House Touch Remix) One of my favorite club tunes of 1999 has just been re-released with several new remixes! Triple X's 'Feel The Same' is a disco house classic that first came out on the Ministry Of Sound label - it features a sample from a track called 'You & I' from the British soul group Delegation's 1979 album called 'Eau De Vie'. This and other Delegation songs have been sampled by artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Phats & Small, Lifelike and Ice Cube! Triple X are an Italian production duo and 'Feel The Same' was a number 1 club hit in the U.K. in the summer of '99. New remixes have just been released under the title 'Feel The Same 2011' on the Rise Records label - including this one from Gary Coas... Enjoy!

The cover art - which looks a bit like Niagara Falls was moved to downtown New York city - is by the late Japanese photomontage artist Tsunehisa Kimura. Deadmau5 & Chris Lake - 'I Said' (Michael Woods Remix) Toronto's Deadmau5 and London's Chris Lake teamed up on this single which was released in February at the height of Vancouver's Olympic mayhem - helping to make it next to impossible to get into his free performance during the 2010 winter games! The song is included on his 4x4=12 album released earlier this month, and this remix by Michael Woods is one of the finest club singles of the year... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Best of 2010! Scissor Sisters - 'Invisible Light' (Boys Noize Remix) New York's Scissor Sisters released their third studio album called "Night Work' in June. Although it wasn't the first single, around the same time a 12" version of this song surfaced on the interweb remixed by Stuart Price. It's a great remix but then in July German dj and producer Alexander Ridha - better known as Boys Noize - got his hands on it and we have this darker take on it - but still a massive club stomper... SummersRadio™ Best Of 2010! Zero 7 - 'Destiny' (Fred Falke Remix) Zero 7 released their first singles compilation in June called 'Record - Best Of'. It's available in several formats including a 16 track single cd version, and in the U.K. there's a 2 cd bonus disc deluxe version available that contains an additional 14 remixes. The digital version has a whopping 43 tracks - all 30 songs from the double cd plus 4 additional remixes and 9 videos! 'Destiny' first appeared on their debut 'Simple Things' and was released as a single in the summer of 2001. This remix from France's Fred Falke is one of the digital only remixes - and he brings the downtempo/ chillout classic straight into clubland... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ Best Of 2010! Chemical Brothers - Horse Power (Popof Remix) The Chemical Brothers released their seventh studio album called 'Further' in June. Later in August they released a number of remixes - four online - and three of them on a limited 12". There were two of 'Swoon' (from Boys Noize and Lindstrom & Prins Thomas) and one of 'Dissolve' (by Bloody Beetroots - digitally only). Also included was this one of 'Horse Power' by Paris's Popof, who punches it up just enough to make a good song great - Enjoy!
