SummersRadio™ New Music! The Orb - 'Moonbuilding 2703 AD' (Meltdown Edit)

The Orb have posted new music online today from their forthcoming new album (their 13th) called 'Moonbuilding 2703 AD'! The band have posted the title track - the 'Meltdown Edit' - which features portions of each of the seven songs on the album.

This 'Meltdown Edit' of 'Moonbuilding 2703 AD' is a nice taster of what we can expect from the new album - it certainly has great potential. I'm not a fan of the crackling bit though - I've never been a fan of crackling on recordings - real or fake! However I do find the opening sample quite amusing... Enjoy!

SubtractiveLAD has released a new song and video online called 'Double Sunrise'! Stephen Hummel aka SubtractiveLAD is an electronic/ experimental artist from Vancouver.

'Double Sunrise' is a spaced out synth masterpiece as great as the finest work from The Orb and Tangerine Dream and it comes complete with a mesmerising video - also produced by Hummel. Trees and power lines have never looked this beautiful together before... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Concert News + Rare Remixes! The Orb - 'Aubrey Mixes: The Ultraworld Excursions' (full album)

The Orb are celebrating their 25th Anniversary with a tour that will bring them to Vancouver on September 25th! The band will be touring North America as well as the U.K. - the Vancouver show has just been announced - they will be performing on Wednesday September 25th at Venue. Early bird tickets are on sale now at Ticketweb http://www.ticketweb.ca/ and from Venue here: http://www.venuelive.ca/

                   

The Orb will also be playing The Forum here in London with guests System 7 on October 19th - new dates are still being added - you can keep up with their itinerary on their official website here: http://www.theorb.com/25th-anniversary-tour/

The Orb released their first remix album on December 14th, 1991 called 'Aubrey Mixes: The Ultraworld Excursions' - and it was deleted the very same day! It features remixes of seven tracks from their debut 'Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld' - five of them were later included on the 2006 Deluxe Edition of 'Adventures...' but the remix album has never been re-released in it's entirety.

SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Download! The Orb + Lee 'Scratch' Perry - 'Hold Me Upsetter'

The Orb have just released their new single online - a collaboration with reggae/ dub legend Lee 'Scratch' Perry! 'Hold Me Upsetter' is the first single from their collaborative album called 'The Observer In The Star House' which will be released on September 3rd on the Cooking Vinyl label. This is The Orb's eleventh studio album and the follow up to 2010's collaboration with Pink Floyd's guitarist David Gilmour called 'Metallic Spheres'.

'The Observer In The Star House' will feature all new songs plus reworkings of two of the individual artist's classic tracks - a song called 'Golden Clouds' which is a rework of The Orb's 'Little Fluffy Clouds' - and a new version of Perry's 1976 composition 'Police And Thieves' which was covered by The Clash on their debut album the following year.

'The Observer In The Star House' will be available on cd, double vinyl, download, and also as a limited edition boxed set which includes:

- Exclusive Instrumental CD of full album
- 3 x 7" coloured (green, yellow, black) vinyl singles.

SummersRadio™ Classic! The Orb!

SummersRadio™ Classic! The Orb - 'Little Fluffy Clouds' (Live Remix) 'What were the skies like when you were young?' If you didn't already know SummersRadio™ transmits (as it were) from Club English Bay on beautiful English Bay in Vancouver's west end. This picture was taken recently from my livingroom window - and it reminded me of this classic from The Orb - not for the fluffy clouds so much as the vibrant colours and the line 'The most beautiful skies as a matter of fact'.

                  

'Little Fluffy Clouds' was first released as a single in 1990 and was included on The Orb's debut album 'Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld' in 1991. It was re-released in 1993, and numerous remixes have also been released over the years. This is a very cool fan made video featuring some amazing time lapse footage... Enjoy!
