Bear In Heaven have released a new song online called 'Autumn'! Bear In Heaven are a Brooklyn three piece band that describe their sound on Facebook as 'Psych/Dub/Drone/Pop' -  I'd also add shoegaze and space rock. 'Autumn' is the first track on their forthcoming new album called 'Time Is Over One Day Old' which will be released August 5th on the Dead Oceans label.

SummersRadio™ Concert News! Kasabian - 'Explodes'

Kasabian have just announced a fall North American tour that includes dates in Toronto and Vancouver! The band will be touring in support of their fifth studio album '48:13' which is set for release on June 9th. SummersRadio™ Concert News! Kraftwerk - 'The Robots' (Official New Video)

German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk have just announced a number of North American concert dates including shows in Toronto and Montreal! The band will be performing a 3-D concert in Toronto on Saturday March 29th at the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts, and at the Metropolis in Montreal the following night.

SummersRadio™ Concert News + Rare Remixes! The Orb - 'Aubrey Mixes: The Ultraworld Excursions' (full album)

The Orb are celebrating their 25th Anniversary with a tour that will bring them to Vancouver on September 25th! The band will be touring North America as well as the U.K. - the Vancouver show has just been announced - they will be performing on Wednesday September 25th at Venue. The Orb released their first remix album on December 14th, 1991 called 'Aubrey Mixes: The Ultraworld Excursions' - and it was deleted the very same day! It features remixes of seven tracks from their debut 'Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld' - five of them were later included on the 2006 Deluxe Edition of 'Adventures...' but the remix album has never been re-released in it's entirety.

Nine Inch Nails have just released a new single online called 'Come Back Haunted'! 'Come Back Haunted' is the first single from Nine Inch Nails new forthcoming album somewhat disturbingly titled 'Hesitation Marks' - which refers to marks inflicted from self-harm.

Nine Inch Nails will also be touring extensively in support of the new album - playing festivals throughout the summer followed by the 'Nine Inch Nails Live: Tension 2013' tour which will be coming to Vancouver on November 21st at Rogers Arena. Pet Shop Boys have just released their new single called 'Axis' today! 'Axis' is the first single from their forthcoming new album (their twelfth) called 'Electric', which will be released on July 15th through Kobalt Label Services. The album is produced by Stuart Price (aka Jacques Lu Cont, etc.) and PSB - it features nine tracks including a cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'The Last To Die'. Pet Shop Boys are already touring in support of 'Electric' and they've just announced a Vancouver date - at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on October 3rd. Pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow morning at Ticketmaster.

It's great to see the duo moving on from the blandness of last year's 'Elysium' so quickly. 'Axis' is certainly their most full on dance single in some time, and if the full album has this much energy it sounds like they've got a winner - for real this time...

Saint Etienne have just announced their first North American concert dates in over five years today! Although they started their 2000 tour here in Vancouver we're not on the list of blessed cities this time BUT there are a couple of shows within driving distance! They will be performing in Seattle at the Showbox on Thursday November 1st - and at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland the night previous.

The Presets have just posted the official video for their new single online today! Last week we featured the teaser videos for the song - today we have the full song and complete video. 'Youth In Trouble' is the first single from their much anticipated forthcoming third album called 'Pacifica' which will be released on September 14th.

Their label Modular Recordings just premiered the video directed by New York visual artist Yoshi Sodeoka this afternoon. So far it's only had 303 views but I reckon that will rise pretty chop chop as both the song and video are fantastic. The announcement came in an e-mail that describes the tune as 'a never-ending, undulating slice of face-melting techno' - and I concur.

David Byrne is releasing a new album - a collaboration with St. Vincent - in September! The album is called 'Love This Giant' - features twelve tracks - and is released on the 4AD label on September 10th (U.K.)/ 11th (North America).

The pair are also embarking on a tour this fall with a full backing band including a drummer, keyboard player - and eight brass players! SummersRadio™ Concert News + Rare Remix! Morrissey - 'First Of The Gang To Die'/ 'Disappointed' (Manchester Mix)

Morrissey has just announced a fall North American tour and tickets go on sale this weekend! The 33 date tour begins October 5th in Boston and wraps up December 8th in Atlantic City. As you may know Morrissey announced in 2006 that he would not be playing any dates in Canada until the annual seal hunt - where up to 350,000 seals are killed each year - is stopped. Sadly this practice continues and it's a disgrace whether you're a vegetarian and animal activist like Morrissey or not. BUT...

                      

The good news is that while Moz is protesting animal cruelty he certainly has not forgotten his Canadian fans - as he's scheduled a few dates in smaller border cities that perhaps wouldn't normally play host to a legendary artist of his stature including Niagara Falls, New York for southern Ontario fans - and Bellingham, Washington for Vancouver fans! He doesn't currently have a new album scheduled for release but the venue's website says that he'll be 'performing the greatest hits from his legendary catalog as well as new unreleased songs'! The Magnetic Fields have just confirmed the details of their new album - and a tour that will bring them to Vancouver in March! The band will be releasing their new album (their tenth) on March 6th called 'Love At The Bottom Of The Sea'. It will be their first release of new material on the Merge Records label since their 1999 triple cd '69 Love Songs'. There's isn't any advanced audio available for 'Love At The Bottom Of The Sea' yet so we shall revist (just) a few (there are many!) of the band's finest past moments. 'I Thought You Were My Boyfriend' was a single from the 2004 album 'i' - this is the excellent (and totally revamped) 'Extended Mix' that was released on 12" and cd single. I love the line 'Some guys have a beer and they'll do anything' :) ... Enjoy!

This is my favorite song from the 2008 fuzzed up release 'Distortion', the sound of which was influenced by one of my favorite guitar bands - The Jesus And Mary Chain - and Merritt's lyrics are bang on highlarious. This is 'Too Drunk To Dream' - yeah, I know that feeling... Enjoy!



'Washington D.C.' is one of over five dozen (!) wonderful songs on their 1999 release '69 Love Songs' - who knew you could write so many songs about one thing! :p I love the sincerity in singer Claudia Gonson's voice - it's made me weep on more than one occasion :) Although I've never been to Washington D.C. I have perhaps a distorted view of it - by association as being the centre of some rather dirty politics at times - but Gonson (and of course Merritt's lyrics) make(s) it sound utterly and irresistably beautiful... SummersRadio™ New Music + Concert News! Keep Shelly In Athens - 'Our Own Dream' Keep Shelly In Athens are an electronic duo from Greece consisting of RΠЯ and Sarah P. 'Our Own Dream' is the title track from their forthcoming new EP coming out in the fall on the Forest Family label. The duo has also just officially announced the dates on their first North American tour in support of the release - which will bring them to Vancouver on Saturday November 12th!

While I generally wouldn't post about a dj set for an artist who also performs live - Peaches is pretty cool - and it gives me a perfect reason to feature one of my favorite remixes of recent years! 'I Feel Cream' is the title track - and was the third single released from - Peaches most recent album which came out in 2009. Peaches' vocals on 'I Feel Cream' are wonderfully sweet and sexy - and the production on this 'Proxy Remix' is nothing short of amazing - an electro 'I Feel Love' for the new millenium... Enjoy!



Earlier this year Peaches provided vocals on a track on R.E.M.'s latest album. She sings on 'Alligator_Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter' - which is the ninth track on R.E.M. 's 15th (!) studio album called 'Collapse Into Now' which was released in March of this year. It's a fine upbeat track - in contrast to most of the sleepy offerings featured on some of R.E.M.'s previous more recent releases. Although it wasn't released as a single, R.E.M. decided to do a few things a bit differently this time around - including making videos for all 12 songs on the album. Peaches is featured in the video as well - this is 'Alligator_Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter' - Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Concert News! Feist - 'Anti-Pioneer' (preview)/ 'Caught A Long Wind' (preview)/ 'The Bad In Each Other' (preview)/ 'Lonely Lonely' (Frisbee'd Remix) Just announced - Leslie Feist returns to Vancouver on November 18th - at the Center For Performing Arts! Tickets go on sale this Friday - with a Live Nation pre-sale happening on Thursday. (keyword 'electric') Scheduled dates for the tour thus far begin in Amsterdam in October and run until December.

Feist will be touring in support of her fourth studio album - or her fifth counting her currently unavailable first album - 1999's Monarch (Lay Your Jewelled Head Down) - called 'Metals' which is due for release on Oct. 3rd (U.K.)/ 4th (North America). The album features 12 tracks and this is the rather beautiful album cover artwork...

Feist is gradually releasing video snippets from 'Metals' - she's released three so far - with the fourth sample set to be released on Friday August 5th. This sounds like it could very well be the actual album intro - perhaps Feist had the urge to rock out for a minute to address her aggro side! She did once play in a punk band called Placebo (not the U.K. band) in Alberta that opened for Radiohead in 1993 after all! Enjoy!
