Bear In Heaven have released a new song online called 'Autumn'! Bear In Heaven are a Brooklyn three piece band that describe their sound on Facebook as 'Psych/Dub/Drone/Pop' - I'd also add shoegaze and space rock. 'Autumn' is the first track on their forthcoming new album called 'Time Is Over One Day Old' which will be released August 5th on the Dead Oceans label.

SummersRadio™ New Cover/ Video! School Of Seven Bells - 'I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up)'
School Of Seven Bells have released a new song and video online called 'I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up)'! The song is a cover of the track written by Joey Ramone from his posthumous 2002 album 'Don't Worry About Me'. The cover is the last song that School Of Seven Bells member Benjamin Curtis worked on before he died from lymphoma in December of last year - and it's available now on iTunes. http://smarturl.it/sviibknockdown
Benjamin Curtis kept working on recording music on his laptop while he was in the hospital and the other half of the duo - Alejandra de la Deheza - plans to finish the recording and release a new album. This version is quite different from Joey Ramone's original - it has a dreamy, surreal New Order-ish feel to it.
The video is currently premiering on Youtube exclusively by Culture Collide - and for this reason the video is not yet available to embed here on our blog. When/ if it becomes available I will post it, but for now we can only provide the link - but it's more than worth the extra click to check this one out - the video is a beautiful tribute to Curtis... Dublin's My Bloody Valentine have just released their new album today! It's taken over 20 years to follow up their landmark 1991 album 'Loveless', but Kevin Shields and the band have finally done it! The album is simply titled 'm b v' and it's first attempted release was last night just prior to midnight on their official website - which promptly crashed.
They then posted each song individually on YouTube so that fans can give the album a listen (each track has been uploaded with fade ins/outs and at a reduced quality of 192kbp to avoid illegal copying)and their new website is now officially up and running.
'm b v' is released in three formats - as a download, as a cd plus digital download, and on 180g vinyl plus a digital download. The download is available now, and the cd's and vinyl will be available for shipping in about three weeks - and they will feature'slightly different but similar artwork' from that seen on the clip below. While most North Americans have been spending today obsessed with footballs and Beyawnce I've been listening to 'm b v' deciding which of it's nine tracks to feature - I've chosen 'If I Am' and 'Who Sees You'.
'If I Am' is the fifth track on 'm b v' and one of several songs on the album featuring Bilinda Butcher on vocals - it's also a fine example of their dreamy drifting side... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music/ Remix! TOY - 'Drifting Deeper' (Richard Fearless Remix)/ 'Make It Mine'
TOY are releasing a new EP for their latest single 'Make It Mine' next week! TOY are a five piece indie/ psychedelic rock band from London that released their self titled debut album in September on the Heavenly Recordings label (available on itunes).
The 'Make It Mine' EP will be released on Dec. 10th and it features the title track, the previously unreleased songs 'Live Electronics', 'What Goes On' (BBC 6 Session) and this remix of 'Drifting Deeper' by Richard Fearless from Death In Vegas.
First up is the 'Richard Fearless Remix' of the album track 'Digging Deeper' - Fearless takes the already joyously trippy instrumental tune and adds more bass and spaced out guitar and keyboard effects. The resulting remix reminds me that it's nearly time to work on my year end best lists... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Download! Writer -'Disparate Youth'/ 'Hot Days'/ 'Family Dinner' (WonderYears RemiX)
Writer are a duo currently based in Brooklyn - brothers James and Andy Ralph - who will be releasing their debut album called 'Brotherface' later this month! 'Brotherface' will feature ten tracks and it's released on October 30th on the U.K. label 3 Syllables. They describe their sound as 'GhettoTech Garage Rock' and they appear to be influenced by both shoegaze and experimental electronica.
In addition to the forthcoming new album, the band have just released a new track online this week - a rather disparate cover of Santigold's 'Disparate Youth' which I find quite superior to the original. They stray away from the pop/ reggae sheen of the original and instead offer generous layers of fuzzy guitars and booming drums reminiscent of legendary bands like The Jesus & Mary Chain and the Pixes - with a dash of Grandaddy style keyboard loops.
'Hot Days' is the band's official new single and video from their forthcoming album 'Brotherface' - filmed in part in the Joshua Tree National Park in the Mojave Desert... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Spitzer - 'Sergen' (Extended Version)
Spitzer are a duo from Lyon, France (brothers actually) who've just released an amazing new EP called 'Sergen'! The three track EP includes the 'Extended Version' of the title track - as well as the original versions of 'Serpentine' and a wonderfully cinematic tune called 'Delenda' - and it's released on the InFine Music label. It's available on Beatport for $5.97 but it's a deal and a half on itunes - all three tracks for only $1.99!

'Sergen' is quite an astounding tune - a bit like shoegazer techno. The duo are no strangers to indie rock - in fact they site the Washington D.C. post-hardcore band Fugazi as influences. The song features spacey electronics melding with bursts of guitar and feedback with proper (real) drums - this song/ EP won me over instantly on the first listen... Enjoy!
