SummersRadio™ New Remix! The Rapture - 'Sail Away' (Digitalism Remix)
Digitalism have just released a new remix of The Rapture's song 'Sail Away'! The track is one of six exclusive new songs included on the latest release in the DJ Kicks series - compiled by the German duo.
The compilation is available on a 22 track cd, on eight track double vinyl (all six exclusives are included) - and on download which features an additional track featuring a 77 minute continous mix. The Presets have just posted the official video for their new single online today! Last week we featured the teaser videos for the song - today we have the full song and complete video. 'Youth In Trouble' is the first single from their much anticipated forthcoming third album called 'Pacifica' which will be released on September 14th.
Their label Modular Recordings just premiered the video directed by New York visual artist Yoshi Sodeoka this afternoon. So far it's only had 303 views but I reckon that will rise pretty chop chop as both the song and video are fantastic. The announcement came in an e-mail that describes the tune as 'a never-ending, undulating slice of face-melting techno' - and I concur.
'Youth In Trouble' will be available for purchase on itunes tomorrow - along with a three track remix EP featuring remixes by Green Velvet, Alex Metric, and The Finger Prince & Light Year. The Orb have just released their new single online - a collaboration with reggae/ dub legend Lee 'Scratch' Perry! 'Hold Me Upsetter' is the first single from their collaborative album called 'The Observer In The Star House' which will be released on September 3rd on the Cooking Vinyl label. This is The Orb's eleventh studio album and the follow up to 2010's collaboration with Pink Floyd's guitarist David Gilmour called 'Metallic Spheres'.
'The Observer In The Star House' will feature all new songs plus reworkings of two of the individual artist's classic tracks - a song called 'Golden Clouds' which is a rework of The Orb's 'Little Fluffy Clouds' - and a new version of Perry's 1976 composition 'Police And Thieves' which was covered by The Clash on their debut album the following year.
'The Observer In The Star House' will be available on cd, double vinyl, download, and also as a limited edition boxed set which includes:
- Standard CD
- Exclusive Instrumental CD of full album
- 3 x 7" coloured (green, yellow, black) vinyl singles.

The Presets have just announced details of their new album! The Australian duo are set to release their third album called 'Pacifica' on Modular Recordings on September 14th. The release date has seen some delays and it's been a long four year wait for fans since 2008's excellent 'Apocalypso'. Here's the cover artwork for 'Pacifica':

David Byrne is releasing a new album - a collaboration with St. Vincent - in September! The album is called 'Love This Giant' - features twelve tracks - and is released on the 4AD label on September 10th (U.K.)/ 11th (North America).
The pair are also embarking on a tour this fall with a full backing band including a drummer, keyboard player - and eight brass players! The 24 date tour will wrap up it's final show right here in Vancouver on October 20th at the Centre For The Performing Arts. SummersRadio™ Concert News + Rare Remix! Morrissey - 'First Of The Gang To Die'/ 'Disappointed' (Manchester Mix)
Morrissey has just announced a fall North American tour and tickets go on sale this weekend! The 33 date tour begins October 5th in Boston and wraps up December 8th in Atlantic City. As you may know Morrissey announced in 2006 that he would not be playing any dates in Canada until the annual seal hunt - where up to 350,000 seals are killed each year - is stopped. Sadly this practice continues and it's a disgrace whether you're a vegetarian and animal activist like Morrissey or not. BUT...
The good news is that while Moz is protesting animal cruelty he certainly has not forgotten his Canadian fans - as he's scheduled a few dates in smaller border cities that perhaps wouldn't normally play host to a legendary artist of his stature including Niagara Falls, New York for southern Ontario fans - and Bellingham, Washington for Vancouver fans! He'll be performing at the Mount Baker Theatre on November 10th - tickets go on sale this Saturday (with a pre-sale starting on Thursday if you're a supporting member of the venue) here: http://mountbakertheatre.com/events/2012/morrissey
He doesn't currently have a new album scheduled for release but the venue's website says that he'll be 'performing the greatest hits from his legendary catalog as well as new unreleased songs'! New songs!! To celebrate this announcement I've decided to post a couple of my favorite Morrissey solo tracks - first up we have 'First Of The Gang To Die' from his 2004 comeback album 'You Are The Quarry'... This is a rare extended remix of one of his greatest b-side songs - 'Disappointed' - which was the flip side to his 'Everyday Is Like Sunday' single from his 1988 debut solo album 'Viva Hate'. This is the 'Manchester Mix'... Enjoy!

From Pet Shop Boys to Kitten to Cat Power :) Cat Power has just released a new song online today! 'Ruin' is the first song from her forthcoming new studio album (her ninth) called 'Sun' which features eleven tracks and is set for release on September 4th on Matador Records. It's her first release since 2008's covers album 'Jukebox', and six years since the release of her last album of original material - 2006's 'The Greatest'.
