I'm siding with the b-side as it were on this one - this is the 'Original Mix' of 'Pow Pow'. The song has an incredible drive to it - along with trippy French vocals - and plenty of spacey keyboards. You know how some songs are so encompassing that on a good night out they journey beyond the dancefloor - until everyone - people at their tables, in the bar lines ups - everywhere - are dancing? SummersRadio™ New Music! Kaskade!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Kaskade featuring Mindy Gledhill - 'Eyes' (Extended Mix) San Francisco based artist/ dj/ producer Ryan Raddon aka Kaskade has just released his latest single called 'Eyes' this week! 'Eyes' is the title track from his forthcoming seventh studio album (not counting his mixed compilations) and the follow up to last year's 'Dynasty' and 'Dynasty (Extended Versions)' releases.

What sets this and many of Kaskade's tracks apart from a lot of generic sounding female vocal house tracks are the singers that he chooses to work with. As is the case with his two most recent singles 'All That You Give' and 'Callout', 'Eyes' features the vocals of Mindy Gledhill - who provides a both sweet and sincere delivery.

Mindy Gledhill has released three solo albums - her first was a Christian/ gospel album called 'Sum Of All Grace' which came out in 2004, followed by the more pop friendly 'Feather In The Wind' in 2007 and her most recent album 'Anchor' came out last summer. Chicago's Kate Simko and France's Anthony Collins have just released a new EP called 'Sit Back' this week! It's released on Israel's Supplemental Facts Records label which is managed by Guy Gerber, and features two very solid house tracks - 'Run & Tell' - and the title track which features Brothers Vibe - a duo from New Jersey.

The 'Sit Back EP' is available exclusively on Beatport - first up we have the title track. The song has some similar percussion (and vibes) to one of my all time favorite club tunes - Alcatraz's 1996 club classic 'Give Me Luv'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Richard Dinsdale & Wally Lopez!

SummersRadio™ New(ish) Remix! Wally Lopez & Richard Dinsdale - 'Shamba' (Luigi Rocca Remix) Surrey's Richard Dinsdale (that's Surrey U.K. - not the Vancouver suburb!) and Madrid's Wally Lopez initally released their new single 'Shamba' at the end of March. It was released on Italy's 303lovers label and featured the 'Original Mix' and the 'Sideburn & Redondo Remix'. About a month and a half later they released the 'Luigi Rocca Remix' - which I instantly fell in love with! The original mixes have a distinct world music/ house vibe - which is just fine - but I loved how Rocca transformed it by adding a massive rolling bassline and a number of trippy keyboard bits.

HOWEVER there was only a 2 minute sample available on Soundcloud, so I thought I'd wait until someone posted the full version somewhere. So I waited. And I waited. And waited. But I can wait no more! While there's still no full version posted anywhere (legal of course) 303lovers has recently posted a longer edit on youtube - just a titch over 3 minutes long - this shall have to suffice. It's a great remix you see, so you must hear it - and it would sound awesome as part of the soundtrack to anyone's summer of 2011! The full remix is 6:38, and if it's to your liking it's available exclusively on Beatport. This the 'Luigi Rocca Remix' of 'Shamba'... Enjoy!

It's out on Moscow's Somebody's Story label and contains two distinctly different versions of the title track - one version by each collaborator! I think one might appreciate this song best if heard in the order that I first did - although either way both tracks are great - first up we have the wonderfully dreamy 'Ilya Malyuev Version'... He started dj'ing at age 11 playing house and hip hop in friends garages after school! He says that when he first heard techno in 2003 that something in his mind changed - and he turned to the production side of making music. 

Now at 23 he is one of the brightest new stars in techno. He released his debut album called 'Save My Soul' on the Analytic Trail label last July. SummersRadio™ New Music! Alex Metric & Steve Angello - 'Open Your Eyes' (Original Mix) I actually first posted this song last September (via the SummersRadio™ Facebook group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=366897324071), but then when I wanted to repost it during my Best Of 2010 listings all I could find was a preview snippet - and I don't like snippets!

Someone had obviously posted the song well before it was time, as it's only been released exclusively on Beatport this week - and even now it's only available in certain countries - and still not in Canada! Regardless, London's Alex Metric and Stockholm's Steve Angello have created a club masterpiece. With it's many varied sounds and tempo changes it manages to sound like a whole night full of great music in just over 7 minutes! 

I've been a fan of Alex Metric's work for many years and although I find some of Steve Angello's music a bit too mainstream for my taste, this is a good pairing - a nice mix of underground and popular sounds - I particularly like the Daft Punk-y part about 2:15 in... Enjoy!

Today I'll feature a couple of my favorite dubstep tracks/ remixes of the year - 'Cracks' was released in the summer on London's Never Say Die Records label. The label's first release was in Nov. 09 and they've already had 3 of their seven records released to date hit number one on the Beatport dubstep and breakbeat charts! What really sets this song above the rest for me is the beautiful vocals of Belle Humble - and the great production overall of course. I like this official video as well - the sensitive cute dude needs to realize that his lady friend is a bit of a bully... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Remembrance Day - Deadmau5 & Kaskade - 'I Remember' Toronto's Deadmau5 has been doing very well for himself lately - on Oct. 27th DJ Magazine listed him at #4 on their annual Top 100 DJ Poll - up two spots from last year! This track - a collaboration with Kaskade - is one of three tracks that hit number 1 on the US Dance airplay charts, making him the only Canadian artist to accomplish this! Earlier this year he performed at the Winter Olympics held in our beautiful city and in March he was nominated for 4 International Dance Music Awards and won three - and in June at the Beatport Music Awards he won awards for Best Electro House Artist, Best Progressive House Artist and the "most influential, relevant and forward-thinking person in electronic music over the past 12 months" award!
