SummersRadio™ New Music! The Presets!

SummersRadio™ New Music! The Presets - 'Goodbye Future'

The Presents have just released a new single called 'Goodbye Future' online today! 'Goodbye Future' is the Austalian duo's first new single since those released from their 2012 album 'Pacifica'. The song is available today on iTunes in Australia and New Zealand - no word yet on release dates for the rest of the world.

According to their label Modular Recordings 'Goodbye Future' 'is the first of a series of singles for The Presets across the coming year' although there's no mention of a new album. The band will also be touring extensively in 2014 - including European summer festival dates - followed by a return to North America.

As for the song itself I'm not sure yet if it's to my liking or not. I've never been a big fan of falsetto vocals - and musically speaking this song is no 'Youth In Trouble' - my favourite song of 2012 which you can revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2012/06/summersradio-new-video-concert-news.html.

Some remixes could certainly save this one though so I look forward to hearing them... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Dreems - 'In The Desert'

Australia's Dreems are releasing a new EP called 'In The Desert' tomorrow! The EP features three tracks - the title song as well as 'We Shall Be Found' (a collaboration with Jagma) and 'With Shackles On'.

'In The Desert' is the first release on the brand new Montreal label called Multi Culti and it's released tomorrow (18th). They mention on Soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/multiculti) that 'In the Desert serves as an excellent introduction to the label's ethos, chakra-picking musical fruit from around the world, sharing only the top 0.01% of all vibes travelled.'

Multi Culti is off to a blazing start with 'In The Desert' - is it too soon to call them my new favourite label? :) 'In The Desert' takes you on a journey deep into the mysterious outback - and I reckon you won't want to come back for a while ... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Talking Heads - 'Burning Down The Acid House' (LNTG Take A Trip Mix)

Late Nite Tuff Guy has just released his latest remix online - a mere two hours ago! The Australian dj/ producer has just remixed the Talking Heads classic single 'Burning Down The House' from their 1983 album 'Speaking In Tongues'. The addition of the word 'acid' in the title tells us exactly where this remix is headed - and I love it... Enjoy!

The video is well suited to the dreamy psychedelic feel of the song - and it was made entirely from plasticine! This is the new video for 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Flume!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Flume featuring Moon Holiday - 'Insane'

Flume has just released his self titled debut album! Here we go with our third Australian electronic artist in a row (and no this wasn't pre-planned) from Perth to Melbourne to Sydney - where we find Harley Streten aka Flume. His full length debut features fifteen tracks - it's released on the Future Classic label and it's available now on itunes worldwide.

Flume mixes elements of both hip hop and electronic music and it's his ace production that really makes this album stand out. 'Insane' is my favourite song on 'Flume' thus far - the sixth track which features the vocals of another Sydney artist signed to the Future Classic label - Alexandra Ward aka Moon Holiday.

You can keep up with Flume on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/flumemusic?fref=ts and Moon Holiday m'here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Moon-Holiday/165876403447356?fref=ts

I like the clean layered synth sounds - the almost 'Time To Pretend' shuffle - Moon Holiday's vocals - and the lyrics on this one. This is a great song to space out and think your mad thoughts to... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Steve Ward!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Steve Ward - 'Bring It Back' (Original Mix)

The 'Artefact' EP features two tracks - 'Shadowed Curse' and 'Bring It Back' - and it's released on Christian Smith's Tronic label. It's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/artefact-ep/984532

The b-side 'Bring It Back' builds steadily but subtly with each synth layer, until before you know it you're in the middle of your very own dance party... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Kriece!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Kriece - 'Paranormal Codeine Steampunk' (Kriece Mash)

Kriece has just released a new EP called 'Kriece Mashups Volume 1'! Kriece aka Shamatha is a dj/ producer from Perth, Australia. His new EP features two tracks - 'Paranormal Codeine Steampunk' and 'Wire Propaganda' - and it's released on the Illegal Ninja Moves label. It's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/kriece-mashups-volume-1/989770

'Paranormal Codeine Steampunk' reminds me of a magical night at the last Soundwave Music Festival on Vancouver Island in 2010. All of my friends were at the drum and bass stage but I wandered off to the main stage where I saw Neighbour with DJ Trevor and friends. Their entire set was literally a perfect groove/ mix of original disco/ house/ funk and electronic music - complete with guitars, an mc and backing vocalists.

If there was such a place as a dance heaven it would sound just like that night - and the dj's would be playing this song in high rotation for the next few months (as it will be at Club English Bay aka my livingroom)... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Flight Facilities!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Flight Facilities - 'Clair De Lune' (Instrumental)/ Flight Facilities Featuring Christine Hoberg - 'Clair De Lune' (Original Vocal Version)

Australian production duo Flight Facilities have just released their new single called 'Clair De Lune' today! The single is released in Australia and New Zealand today - and it's released in North America and Europe next week - on the Glassnote label.

The band have posted both the vocal and instrumental versions - and thus far I'm a bit partial to the instrumental as it provides more opportunity to let the music sink in and for your mind to wander in it's warm glow... Enjoy!

This is the original vocal version featuring Brooklyn (via Wisconsin) singer Christine Hoberg: christinehoberg.bandcamp.com

Enjoy...!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Late Nite Tuff Guy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Late Nite Tuff Guy - 'I Can Feel It' (LNTG Rework)

Cam Bianchetti aka Late Nite Tuff Guy is a dj/ producer (formerly known as HMC) from Australia who's just released a new rework of Phil Collins' 'In The Air Tonight' retitled 'I Can Feel It'! Wait a second... Phil Collins? Yes. I had a discussion with a friend today when I was pondering this post - the first question was 'Is Phil Collins cool'? We wholeheartedly agreed that he is not. Was he ever cool and/ or did he write some great songs? Perhaps and absolutely, respectively.

If I was to pinpoint where the shift took place I'd say it was in the mid-eighties - after the massive success of his third solo album 'No Jacket Required' and the Genesis album 'Invisible Touch' he aged quickly, and his music became watered down and bland ever so rapidly. But I for one cannot deny the unique atmosphere encapsulated in his debut solo single 'In The Air Tonight' - and the drum sound - amazing! It's a good song to space out to :)

So while I may cringe when I think of what Phil represents now, a good song is a good song, and a good remix is a good remix - and today's song is both! LNTG's rework extends the original - adds a bit more ambiance, some vocal effects, a kick drum - and he thankfully keeps the massive drum burst towards the end intact... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Ryan Riback & John Baptiste!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Ryan Riback & John Baptiste - 'Kids These Days' (Silversix Remix) Melbourne Australia's Ryan Riback and John Baptiste have released a new EP of remixes for their new single 'Kids These Days'! 'Kids These Days' was first released last month on a four track EP featuring the original mix and three remixes on the Pop Rox Muzik label. They've now also just released three more new remixes on the Suckmusic label!

'Kids These Days' is a bit of a social commentary that addresses some of the social habits and issues facing kids today. And it's about time I say - I mean they talk about drinking and misbehaving, taking drugs - listening to techno music even! Well I never. I mean, come on. I certainly don't go around drinking and... oh. And clearly I never take any drugs or... um, wait. And techno music... hmmm. Ok kids - Party On! :)

This is the 'Silversix Remix' of  Ryan Riback & John Baptiste's track 'Kids These Days'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Joy Division!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Joy Division - 'She's Lost Control' (Young Edits Voices In Her Edit) Luke Foskey aka Young Edits// Youth or simply Youth (not to be confused with U.K. musician/ producer Martin Glover aka Youth - who has produced or remixed artists such as Primal Scream, The Verve, U2, The Shamen, Art Of Noise and many others - and who also started the first psychedelic trance label - Dragonfly Records!) is a 22 year old dj/ producer from Brisbane Australia. He's just released his latest remix online - of the Joy Division classic 'She's Lost Control'!

'She's Lost Control' appeared on Joy Division's debut album 'Unknown Pleasures' in 1979. A different version of the song was later released as a single in summer of 1980. The lyrics involve a girl having an epileptic seizure - Joy Division's guitarist/ vocalist Ian Curtis also had epilepsy.

This remix is respectful of the original - Luke says on his Soundcloud page:

'A band synonymous with artistic influence on my generation and I am no exception. I've always toyed with the idea of turning this track into something dancefloor orientated, but I never wanted it to lose its depth of originality nor its dark edge.
Hopefully this edit does justice to one of the most phenomenal and influential bands of their time. RIP Ian x
'

This is the 'Young Edits Voices In Her Edit' remix of 'She's Lost Control' which will be released soon on the Discofil label - I particularly like it when the acid techno bits kick in later in the song (about 5:50 in)... Enjoy!
