SummersRadio™ New Music/ Cover + Free Download! Say Lou Lou - 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards'
Say Lou Lou have just released a new cover of Tame Impala's instant classic 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards' online today!
The Swedish duo love Tame Impala and the song so they decided to do their own version - here are their comments: "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" is really enthralling, it's like there are several different worlds inside one song. How it feels like a simple rock song (with almost pop melodies) but with a field of colour bursts of warm layered instrumentation that re-invents itself throughout the whole song... but it wasn't until we started making our own version that we discovered how beautiful the lyrics are - another world in itself - so we decided to strip the groove back and take it into another place.'
If Say Lou Lou's stripped down version is to your liking you can download a copy of it for free from their website here: http://www.sayloulou.com/
SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Massive Attack - 'Teardrop' (Theatre Of Delays Remix)
Berlin's Theatre Of Delays have just released a new remix of Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' online!
I like how Theatre Of Delays describe their sound on Facebook:'Imagine the climax of a movie, the moment when the rising tension finally detonates, like a punch in the face. Now imagine watching the same scene in slow motion. You can recognize every little emotion and every shade, you are drifting into a soft, wistful vision. That’s the power of Theatre of Delays: emotions in a time paradox...'.
Their remix of 'Teardrop' has a subtle drum and bass feel with the addition of other spacey sounds - but what's particularly interesting about this remix is how the gorgeous vocals of Elizabeth Fraser seem even clearer and more upfront than in the original.

The 'Todd Terje Extended Mix' of 'Evil Eye' is quite straightforward for the first third of the song, but then Terje flips things around for the ladder two thirds which are a funky dub version of the single... Enjoy!

'Love Inc' has the air of a classic disco song - but with ominous synths/ strings that add a more serious tone - as it asks you 'are you happy?'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! The Casket Girls - 'Suddenly'/ 'Holding You Back'
The Casket Girls have released a new cassingle (!) called 'Holding You Back'/ 'Suddenly'! The Casket Girls are a trio from Savannah, Georgia consisting of Phaedra & Elsa Greene who write the lyrics and sing, and Ryan Graveface who writes the music.
They released 'Holding You Back'/ 'Suddenly' for Cassette Store Day (which was last Saturday) - and they're asking fans to vote for which song they prefer - as one of the two will make it onto their next album which is called 'True Love Kills The Fairy Tale'.
I'm having a hard time deciding which of the two songs I like most - I think I prefer the lyrics most on 'Suddenly' and the music on 'Holding You Back' - but since it's so close I'll post both! Both tracks are dreamy with lovely harmonies - think Bananarama (who I adore) on quaaludes - let's begin with the b-side 'Suddenly'... Enjoy!
And this is the a-side 'Holding You Back'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! John Digweed & Nick Muir Versus Psycatron - 'Awakenings' (Original Mix)

SummersRadio™ New Music! Cut Copy - 'Free Your Mind'
Cut Copy have just released their new single 'Free Your Mind' online! 'Free Your Mind' is the title track from the Melbourne band's forthcoming fourth album which is due for release November 5th on Modular Recordings.
It says on the Modular website that the band was going for a 'Summer Of Love' vibe on this album - paying tribute to both 1967 and 1988/89. The title track sounds more like the latter - with positive lyrics and a club feel reminiscent of The Beloved and Happy Mondays... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music/ Video! Arcade Fire - 'Reflektor'
Arcade Fire have just released their new single and video 'Reflektor' online! 'Reflektor' was officially released last night (9/9) at 9pm - Montreal time (2am here in London). If you're keen you may have anticipated this post today - as we did finish yesterday off with Tears For Fears covering Arcade Fire.
'Reflektor' is the first single and title track from the band's forthcoming fourth album which is produced by James Murphy and is set for release on October 29th on Merge Records. 'Reflektor' is expected to be a double album as the songs are currently numbered 1 - 7 and 1 - 6 for pre-order on iTunes.
Here is the album cover art:
This is the official video for 'Reflektor' directed by Anton Corbijn - featuring lots of shiny things! You see I believe that Arcade Fire secretly want to be disco stars - really. First there was the remarkable similarity between their song 'Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)' and Blondie's 'Heart Of Glass' - if you think that statement sounds crazy you can revisit this Hood Internet mashup for proof: http://summersradio.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/summersradio-new-mashup-free-download.html
Secondly there's fact that they've enlisted James Murphy (formerly of LCD Soundsystem) as producer - who's well known for infusing indie rock with dance sensibilities. And thirdly we have this video - filled with disco balls - disco outfits, disco shacks - even a discofied coffin - and they're totally raving in the woods around 5:45 in!
I look forward to seeing if there are any official remixes of this track forthcoming (those gurgly bits around 2:40 in would lend well to a techno remix) and even if there aren't, there will most certainly be a number of unofficial remixes heading our way very soon I reckon... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Tears For Fears - 'Head Over Heels' (Dunproofin's Beatless Remix)/ (Dunproofin Remix)/ Tears For Fears - 'Ready To Start' (Arcade Fire cover)
Dunproofin has just released a new remix of Tears For Fears classic 'Head Over Heels' online! Andy Dunproofin aka Dunproofin is a dj/ producer from Aberdeen who's posted two variations of the song online. 'Head Over Heels' was the third/ fourth (depending on where you lived) single from Tears For Fears second album 'Songs From The Big Chair' in 1985.
Dunproofin has posted two slightly different versions of the song - one with beats (the massive drum sound from one of the bands other hits 'Shout') - and one without the drums. I think I prefer the beatless version but both are good so I shall post both! If either or both versions are to your liking they're available as a free download - simply click on the download arrow(s)... Enjoy!
This is the regular 'Dunproofin Remix'... Enjoy!
Bonus Track! Numerous artists and musicians have either covered or sampled Tears For Fears over the years - and in return last month the band decided to do their own 'cross generational' cover song - of Arcade Fire's 'Ready To Start'... Enjoy!
Coldplay have released a new song online - and I don't hate it! The band became a popular target for haters by the time their third album 'X & Y' came out in 2005 but that album is my personal favourite so I remained a dedicated fan. However I wasn't quite as impressed by 2008's 'Viva La Vida' - and I absolutely despised 'Mylo Xyloto' and deemed it unpostworthy.
'Atlas' marks the first time that the band have written a song specifically for a film - in this case it's for the soundtrack to 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' which opens on November 22nd - the single is available now on iTunes. So perhaps I'm feeling mellow as it's a Sunday - or perhaps I just like the sparse but artsy lyric video, but today we're featuring the new Coldplay single 'Atlas'... Enjoy!
I haven't posted a classic for a while so today let's travel back in time to 1991 - when Chicago based artist/ producer William LaTour aka LaTour released his self titled debut album.
His first single 'People Are Still Having Sex' was a major club hit - 'Blue' was the follow up single - and it was re-released the following year after being featured prominently in the club scene of the film 'Basic Instinct'.
The sleek production on 'Blue' has enabled it to age well... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Olivier Giacomotto - '20000 Leagues Under The Skin'
France's Olivier Giacomotto has just released a new EP called 'Explorateur'! The EP features two tracks - '20000 Leagues Under The Skin' and 'Journey To The Center Of House'. The EP is released on the Definitive Recordings label and it's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/release/explorateur-ep/1147047
I'm not sure where one would end up if you did travel '20000 Leagues Under The Skin' but I reckon you'd have no trouble feeling the hypnotic vibe of this tune... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Dosh - 'We Are The Worst'
Dosh is releasing a new album called 'Milk Money' next month! Martin Dosh aka Dosh is an experimental/ electronic artist from Minneapolis, Minnesota - 'Milk Money' is released October 22nd on Graveface Records.
'We Are The Worst' is the first track from the album to be revealed online - it's cinematic feel morphs multiple times while remaining intriguing throughout... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Marco Dassi - 'Acid Purple Weed'/ 'Be A Light'
Italian dj/ producer Marco Dassi is releasing a new album next week called 'First, Quake Me'! The thirteen track album will be released on September 11th on the Hell Yeah Recordings label. Like yesterday's post this release features some interesting cover art that may or may not be based on a human:
'Acid Purple Weed' is one of many standout tracks on the album with it's spacious acid techno vibe... Enjoy!
'Be A Light'is another standout track from 'First, Quake Me' featuring lush layers of synths suitable for strutting... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Adam Beyer & Ida Engberg - 'Unanswered Question' (Original Mix)
Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg have just released a new EP called 'Unanswered Question'! The EP features four tracks - the original plus two remixes of the title track - and a song called 'Virga'. The EP is released on the Drumcode label and it's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/release/unanswered-question/1143214
'Unanswered Question' - like the EP's cover art - is a dark mysterious beast... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Postiljonen - 'When All The Wild Things Die'
Scandinavian trio Postiljonen have just posted a new song online called 'When All The Wild Things Die'! The song is previously unreleased from the same recording sessions as their debut album 'Skyer' which was released in North America in July on the Best Fit Recordings label.
'When All The Wild Things Die' has thus far just been posted on Soundcloud so it's not available to purchase just yet. The band notes on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/POSTILJONEN) that this is one of the first songs that they made together as a band which suggests that they nailed their wistful sound pretty quick... Enjoy!
