Tracey Thorn has released a new single online - a cover of Kate Bush's 'Under The Ivy'! 'Under The Ivy' was first released as the b-side to Bush's hit 'Running Up That Hill' in 1985. 'Under The Ivy' was inspired by Kate Bush's grand return to the stage in London this year. The original song has a special place in my heart - rare is it that a cover can do such a beautiful song justice but Tracey Thorn's version is also quite lovely... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Cover! The Cure Featuring James McCartney - 'Hello, Goodbye'
The Cure have released a new cover of The Beatles 'Hello, Goodbye' online! 'Hello, Goodbye' is the first single from a new compilation called 'The Art Of McCartney' which features well known artists covering Paul McCartney compositions spanning his entire career with The Beatles, Wings, and his solo work. It's released on November 18th on Columbia Records.
The tribute album features artists including Chrissie Hynde, Billy Joel, Brian Wilson, Jeff Lynne, Heart, Ian McCulloch, Alice Cooper and Rodger Daltry - there are 34 tracks in all plus eight bonus tracks. SummersRadio™ New Cover/ Video! School Of Seven Bells - 'I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up)'
School Of Seven Bells have released a new song and video online called 'I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up)'! The song is a cover of the track written by Joey Ramone from his posthumous 2002 album 'Don't Worry About Me'. The cover is the last song that School Of Seven Bells member Benjamin Curtis worked on before he died from lymphoma in December of last year - and it's available now on iTunes. http://smarturl.it/sviibknockdown
Benjamin Curtis kept working on recording music on his laptop while he was in the hospital and the other half of the duo - Alejandra de la Deheza - plans to finish the recording and release a new album. This version is quite different from Joey Ramone's original - it has a dreamy, surreal New Order-ish feel to it.
The video is currently premiering on Youtube exclusively by Culture Collide - and for this reason the video is not yet available to embed here on our blog. When/ if it becomes available I will post it, but for now we can only provide the link - but it's more than worth the extra click to check this one out - the video is a beautiful tribute to Curtis... Brookyln trio Au Revoir Simone have released a new cover of Mazzy Star's modern rock classic 'Fade Into You' online! The song was first released as a single from their album 'So Tonight That I Might See' in 1994. Au Revoir Simone have posted their version on Soundcloud - which features guitarist Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes. No word yet on a commercial release.
This is Au Revoir Simone's cheerful synthpop cover of 'Fade Into You'... Enjoy!

Tel Aviv duo Red Axes have covered Bauhaus's 1979 classic 'Bela Lugosi's Dead'! 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' is track nine on Red Axes new album 'Ballad Of The Ice' which is released on the I'm A Cliché label and it's available now on iTunes.
Red Axes cover is more electronic than the original - while it maintains some of the atmosphere of the nine minute epic, it's also different enough to be interesting in it's own right... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Cover! Emika - 'Let's Dance' (Shocklee-Emikaized Version)
Emika has just released a new cover of David Bowie's 'Let's Dance' online! Berlin's Emika is a songwriter and producer and she's chosen to cover this song as a tribute to Bowie. If you happen to live in Germany 50,000 free downloads of this track are being given away through Rolling Stone (German Edition).
Emika will also be performing the song live at the David Bowie Retrospective in Berlin at the Martin-Gropius-Bau on June 15th. There's no word yet as to whether or not this cover will be made available commercially.
'Let's Dance' was originally released by Bowie as the title track and first single from his 1983 album. Emika's version is structurally the same but it has a completely different feel to it. It's much more atmospheric - the production is reminiscent of some of Andrew Weatherall's work - and her delivery is very seductive... Enjoy!

Tame Impala have just released a new song online today - a cover of Michael Jackson's 'Stranger In Moscow'! So what is this - covers week?! Notable covers don't come along often - but here we are with our third in as many days.
Michael Jackson released 'Stranger In Moscow' in 1996 as the fifth single from his 'HIStory: Past, Present And Future, Book 1' album. I'm not a fan of the original song but Tame Impala make it their own - making it feel like less of a ballad and more like a dreamy psychedelic number.

SummersRadio™ New Cover + Classic! Emmanuelle Seigner - 'You Think You're A Man' (Jean Tonique Remix)/ Divine - 'You Think You're A Man' (Original Extended Remix)
French actress and singer Emmanuelle Seigner is releasing a new EP next week called 'You Think You're A Man'! 'You Think You're A Man' is a cover of Divine's 1984 underground club hit. The EP will feature two remixes - one by Yuksek and this one by Jean Tonique. Seigner - who's married to director Roman Polanski - is releasing the EP next week - March 17th on Universal.
Jean Tonique's remix of 'You Think You're A Man' is a full on disco/ funk makeover complete with Nile Rodgers style funky guitars and great strings... Enjoy!
Bonus Track! Emmanuelle Seigner's choice of a song to cover is awesome - but nothing can match the vitriol of Divine's delivery on the original. This is the original 'Extended Version' produced by Barry Evangeli and Pete Waterman in all it's cowbell induced glory... Enjoy!
