Today's post has been inspired by two things - Remembrance Day - and a headline from today's NME online: "Yoko Ono Thanks Paul McCartney For Saying She Didn't Split Up The Beatles" http://www.nme.com/news/yoko-ono/67120
The peace achieved between Ono and McCartney provides symbolic hope for peace between nations - even those who've been at odds for decades. For 42 years some humans have continued to blame Yoko (and some fools still will) but they're wrong - the truth is out now.
As such a great promoter of peace and as a fan of Yoko's music as well http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2012/02/summersradio-new-music-remixes-yoko-ono.html (and the all artists involved here) I think that this is an important acknowledgement.

SummersRadio™ New Music! Flume!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Flume featuring Moon Holiday - 'Insane'
Flume has just released his self titled debut album! Here we go with our third Australian electronic artist in a row (and no this wasn't pre-planned) from Perth to Melbourne to Sydney - where we find Harley Streten aka Flume. His full length debut features fifteen tracks - it's released on the Future Classic label and it's available now on itunes worldwide.
Flume mixes elements of both hip hop and electronic music and it's his ace production that really makes this album stand out. 'Insane' is my favourite song on 'Flume' thus far - the sixth track which features the vocals of another Sydney artist signed to the Future Classic label - Alexandra Ward aka Moon Holiday.

SummersRadio™ New Music! Kriece - 'Paranormal Codeine Steampunk' (Kriece Mash)
Kriece has just released a new EP called 'Kriece Mashups Volume 1'! Kriece aka Shamatha is a dj/ producer from Perth, Australia. His new EP features two tracks - 'Paranormal Codeine Steampunk' and 'Wire Propaganda' - and it's released on the Illegal Ninja Moves label. 'Paranormal Codeine Steampunk' reminds me of a magical night at the last Soundwave Music Festival on Vancouver Island in 2010. All of my friends were at the drum and bass stage but I wandered off to the main stage where I saw Neighbour with DJ Trevor and friends. Their entire set was literally a perfect groove/ mix of original disco/ house/ funk and electronic music - complete with guitars, an mc and backing vocalists.
If there was such a place as a dance heaven it would sound just like that night - and the dj's would be playing this song in high rotation for the next few months (as it will be at Club English Bay aka my livingroom)... Enjoy!

Hot Since 82 have just released a new remix of Friendly Fires new single online today! The Leeds dj/ producer just posted this remix of Friendly Fires new cover of 'Why Don't You Answer' from the latest 'Late Night Tales' compilation on Soundcloud this morning.
This is 30th installment of the series and it's compiled by Friendly Fires. The 'Late Night Tales' series has always embraced diversity and this edition is no exception as it features twenty tracks from artists such as Junior Boys, Stereolab, SBTRK, Slowdive - and Olivia Newton-John!

Bonus Track! The Friendly Fires cover of 'Why Don't You Answer' made me want to check out (revisit?) the original - which was familiar to my subconscious although I'm unsure of just when and where I heard it. This led to this remix of the original by Lukas T. Velvet - which appears on the digital reissue of 'Flashback' that came out last year.
This remix makes the original a bit punchier - more techno if you will... Enjoy!

Amsterdam's Bart Skils has just released a new EP called 'Midnight Moving' today! 'Midnight Moving' is an interesting mix of 70's disco, 80's synth pop, 90's house, 00's Electroclash, and whatever it is you call this decade we're in techno! I've listened to both versions numerous times trying to decide which mix is most to my liking and it's too close to call, so I'm posting both. I think I'll buy both versions and then and play them back to back so the song is a 13 and a half minute time warp of hypnotic synths and good times... Enjoy!

Elias Mariano aka the E.M.B. Project has just released new remixes of two classic 80's songs online this week! The Brazilian producer has just remixed Falco's 1981/82 hit 'Der Kommissar' (which translates as 'The Commissioner') and INXS's 1987 hit 'Need You Tonight' from their 'Kick' album.

SummersRadio™ New Music! Saint Etienne - 'Solid Gold'/ 'Landscape'
So I saw Saint Etienne in Seattle last night - and they were utterly Amazing! The setlist was a fantastic combination from their vast catalogue - 17 songs and two encores! The sound was flawless and they had background visuals as well. Here's a peak at the setlist:
At one point early in the evening Pete Wiggs came out to chat with one of the opening acts - Beat Connection - and I seized the opportunity to ask him if he would sign a couple cd's that I brought with me. Not only did he sign them, but he said that Sarah and Pete hadn't arrived yet so he would hang on to them to get them to sign it as well - then he later returned them to one of their crew who was working the merch table who then hand delivered them to me at the front row! How incredible is that?

As an added bonus the band were selling a new U.S. double disc version of 'Words And Music By...' on this tour - and it's completely different from the U.K. double disc version! The U.K. version features twelve remixes, while the second U.S. bonus disc called 'More Words And Music' features ten new songs! I listened to it a few times on the long drive home to Vancouver and I've chosen my two favourite tracks so far to post today.
First up is the first track on the 'More Words And Music' disc called 'Solid Gold' - a post break-up song about being strong and moving on... Enjoy!
'Landscape' is the fifth track on 'More Words And Music' - a largely instrumental Kraftwerk-y atmospheric tune that is well suited to travelling - for real or just in your mind... Enjoy!
