Philip Selway has released a new song online called 'It Will End In Tears'! 'It Will End In Tears' is a track from the Radiohead drummer's forthcoming second solo album called 'Weatherhouse' which is available now for pre-order on iTunes in selected countries.
'It Will End In Tears' has a grandeur that Radiohead tracks have been missing for years... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Radiohead - 'Talk Show Host' (Jett Rework)
London dj/producer Jett has just released a new remix of Radiohead's 'Talk Show Host' online! 'Talk Show Host' first appeared as the b-side to Radiohead's 1995 single 'Street Spirt (Fade Out)', and a remix by Nellee Hooper was included on the soundtrack to 'Romeo + Juliette' the following year.
SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Radiohead - 'Street Spirit (Fade Out)' (Ben Aqua Dream Rap Remix)/ Ben Aqua - 'Reset Yourself'
Ben Aqua has just released a new remix of Radiohead's 'Street Spirit (Fade Out)' online! Ben Aqua is a Brooklyn born Austin based artist and musician who released his debut single called 'Reset Yourself' in February on his own #Feelings label.
'Street Spirit (Fade Out)' was released as the fourth single from Radiohead's 1995 album 'The Bends'. Ben Aqua's remix adds some tasteful beats to the original and if it's to your liking you can download a copy for free by clicking on the arrow below... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Radiohead - 'Everything In Its Right Place' (Jeremy Hills End Of The World Remix)
Jeremy Hills is a producer from Paris who's just released a new remix of Radiohead's 'Everything In Its Right Place' online! Although never released as a single the opening track from Radiohead's 'Kid A' album has been remixed many times since it's release in 2000. As is often the case with remixes some have been great and some have been disastrous, but this new one is one of the better ones.
Hills punches up the original nicely to make it suitable for dancing to until the end of the world and if this remix is to your liking he's made it available as a free download on Soundcloud here: http://soundcloud.com/jeremyhills/radiohead-everything-in-its (or simply click on the download arrow below)
SummersRadio™ Rare Remix + Free Download! The Beatles - 'Tomorrow Never Knows' (David Apple Remix)
Today's post has been inspired by two things - Remembrance Day - and a headline from today's NME online: "Yoko Ono Thanks Paul McCartney For Saying She Didn't Split Up The Beatles" http://www.nme.com/news/yoko-ono/67120
The peace achieved between Ono and McCartney provides symbolic hope for peace between nations - even those who've been at odds for decades. For 42 years some humans have continued to blame Yoko (and some fools still will) but they're wrong - the truth is out now.
As a human with a very anti-violence stance I wear the white poppies for peace at this time of year. You can learn more about them here: http://www.ppu.org.uk/whitepoppy/index.html
He released this remix of the Beatles classic 'Tomorrow Never Knows' from their 1966 album 'Revolver' in February, which cleverly incorporates keyboard elements of Radiohead's 'Everything In It's Right Place' - and other interesting bits into it. If it's to your liking simply click on the download icon below or the link above for your free copy!
Is world peace possible? Perhaps not today, but 'Tomorrow Never Knows'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Atoms For Peace - 'Default'/ 'Other Side' (Stuck Together Remix)
Atoms For Peace is a five man experimental/ electronic 'supergroup' that includes Radiohead's Thom Yorke, their longtime producer Nigel Godrich, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers - as well as their current live percussionist Mauro Refosco and drummer Joey Waronker. They've just released their first proper single online called 'Default' - following their split single debut with Other Lives called 'Other Side' last month.
'Default' is available as a one track single on itunes now in many parts of the world with a Canadian release scheduled for Tuesday the 10th. The band's debut album doesn't have a firm release date set yet but it's not expected until 2013. Although written with different personnel the song is not unlike some of Yorke's 2006 debut solo album 'The Eraser' or Radiohead's more recent forays into electronic music... Enjoy!
Bonus Track! As mentioned 'Other Side' was released last month as a two track split single with the band Other Lives on the 50 Weapons label. It's available on itunes and it features an 'Atoms For Peace Remix' of the Other Lives song 'Tamer Animals' as the a-side if you will, and this largely instrumental 'Stuck Together Remix' of their own song 'Other Side' as the flip... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ It's My Party! Part 2! Blonds - 'Time'
I originally planned to get two posts in yesterday before the birthday shenanigans took over, but I only had time to do one - which I believe is a sign that I had a good time :) Birthdays are often a time for reflection of course - one of the most popular questions to ponder is certainly 'Where does the time go?'!
Blonds are a duo based in New York City - a couple consisting of Jordy Asher and Cari Rae - who are releasing their debut album called 'The Bad Ones' on August 7th! They released their debut EP called 'Dark Roots' last November - which includes a cover of Radiohead's 'Talk Show Host'. The six track EP is available on Bandcamp as a free download here: http://blonds.bandcamp.com/album/dark-roots-ep
This is his latest remix - of 'Codex' from Radiohead's 'The King Of Limbs' album which was inspired by 'Nadastrom & Sabo's remix of Jamie xx, and, sort of, Gus Gus' - I definitely dig the Gus Gus 'Polydistortion' style keyboard influences here! If this remix is to your liking you can download a copy for free simply by clicking on the download icon below - you can also keep up with Party Ben on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/therealpartyben
SummersRadio™ New Music! Radiohead - 'The Daily Mail'/ 'Staircase' Radiohead have just released a new live video album and a new single this week! The video compilation is called 'The King Of Limbs - From The Basement' and is available on blu-ray, dvd, and digitally. It features 11 tracks - all eight from their 'King Of Limbs' album, plus the songs 'The Daily Mail', 'Staircase', their Record Store Day single from earlier this year called 'Supercollider' - and is released on their own Ticker Tape Ltd. label.
While the video album features live performances of the new songs 'The Daily Mail' and 'Staircase' - they have also been released as a separate two track single. I've had quite a history with Radiohead - I was a fan from the very beginning - there's a lot more to their debut album 'Pablo Honey' than just 'Creep'. In fact, they were my favorite band for many years - I even got to meet Thom Yorke once. However, following the release of 'Kid A' I've found them progressively less and less appealing. Thom seems to whine and mumble more than sing in recent years, and I've found many (but not all) of their songs either lacking in warmth, or a bit too disjointed for my liking. Well the good news is that Thom's vocals sound much more like his old (younger) self here - they're clearer - and you can make out the words!
First up we have the piano driven song 'The Daily Mail'... Enjoy!
This is Radiohead's other new song called 'Staircase' - it's a bit busy percussion wise, but the backing keyboards have a nice calm dreamlike quality to them... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ STARTLEFEST 2011 Halloween Spectacular Continues! New Video! Modeselektor featuring Thom Yorke - 'Shipwreck' Berlin's Modeselektor released their third studio album called 'Monkeytown' just last month. 'Shipwreck' is one of two songs on the album that features the vocals of Radiohead's Thom Yorke - and it's also their new single and video!
The video for 'Shipwreck' addresses a number of common fears - zombies - vicious dogs - and more... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ 500th Post Celebration! New Remix + Free Download! Radiohead - 'The National Anthem' (Grizzly Bronson Remix) What better way to continue our 500th post party than with a new remix and a free download?! 'The National Anthem' is the third track on Radiohead's fourth album 'Kid A' which was released in 2000.
The Feckless Wonders are a production/ remix crew from Sacramento California that have also recently done remixes of Two Door Cinema Club, Foster The People, Phantogram, and Vancouver's own Young Liars. You can check out some of their other remixes on their Soundcloud page here: http://soundcloud.com/feckless-wonders
This is their new 'Grizzly Bronson Remix' of Radiohead's 'National Anthem' which you can download for free by clicking the arrow below or by going to the link above... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remixes! Radiohead - 'Bloom' (Mark Pritchard Remix)/ (Harmonic 313 Remix)/ 'Morning Mr. Magpie' (Nathan Fake Remix) Radiohead released the latest in a series of 12" singles featuring all new remixes this weekend! This is the second 12"release in the series of vinyl only (thus far) remixes of tracks from their 'King Of Limbs' album. This one features two remixes of the song 'Bloom' and one of 'Morning Mr. Magpie'.
The band have also announced that all of the remixes will be made available on one cd -AFTER they've all been released digitally and on vinyl! So for your listening pleasure I present all three new remixes of Radiohead's most recent forays into experimental electronic music - first up is the 'Bloom' remix from Sydney's Mark Pritchard... Enjoy!
And this is Harmonic 313's remix of 'Bloom'. Like Mark Pritchard - Harmonic 313 also hails from Sydney - which is no coincidence, as it's actually an alais of his! While remixed by the same human, this version is much more cinematic... Enjoy!
And this is Nathan Fake's remix of 'Morning Mr. Magpie'. Unlike Harmonic 313, Norfolk's Nathan Fake uses his 'real' name... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remixes! Radiohead - 'Little By Little' (Caribou Remix)/ 'Lotus Flower' (Jacques Greene Remix) Last month Radiohead announced that they would be releasing a series of 12" remixes of tracks from their latest album 'The King Of Limbs' - and the first one is out this week! The first 12" contains remixes by not one, but two Canadians! 'Little By Little' is remixed by Caribou - who was born in London Ontario but now lives in London England - and 'Lotus Flower' has been remixed by Montreal's Jacques Greene.
The songs are available on limited 12" vinyl through select record stores and they're available on both vinyl and as a digital download through their official website here: http://www.thekingoflimbs.com/Store/DisplayItems.html
The next 12" becomes available on July 14th and will feature remixes of 'Morning Mr. Magpie' by Nathan Fake and two remixes of 'Bloom' by Mark Pritchard.
First we have Caribou's remix of 'Little By Little'... Enjoy!
And here's Jacques Greene's remix of 'Lotus Flower'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Burial, Four Tet & Thom Yorke - 'Ego' London's William Bevan - better known as Burial, and Kieran Hebden - better known as Four Tet - have just released a new 12" - in a magical indie/ electronic collaborative threeway with Radiohead's Thom Yorke! It's a two track single (both songs feature Yorke's vocals) released on Four Tet's label Text Records - that includes 'Mirror' and this song called 'Ego'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Radiohead - 'Bloom' 'Bloom' is the first track of eight on Radiohead's new album 'The King Of Limbs' (released online today!) - and the most electronic based. The album will see a physical release on cd on March 28th (U.K.)/ 29th (North America). As is the case with pretty much every other Radiohead release, there will also be a special limited edition available - this one called the 'Newspaper Edition'. This version will contain two 10" vinyl records, a cd and various pieces of artwork in special oxo-degradable packaging - and will be released on May 9th/ 10th. This is 'Bloom' - the second flower related new Radiohead track I've posted today... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Radiohead - 'Lotus Flower' Radiohead had the interweb abuzz on Valentine's day with the announcement that they would release their new album in just 5 days! Well if that wasn't a surprise enough now they've gone and tricked us as well be releasing it a day early! 'King Of Limbs' is their 8th studio album and you can buy it now here: http://www.thekingoflimbs.com/ They've also just released the first single and video for 'Lotus Flower'! I like this song better than many a recent Radiohead song as I've found that he's generally chosen to sing in a much more whiny style on recent albums, compared to their first four releases.
The video itself is somewhat amusing. I suppose Thom can be forgiven for not knowing all the words just yet - it is brand new after all - but to make up for it he's developed some new dance moves! If you're going out dancing this weekend perhaps you can learn a few steps - everybody do the Thom Yorke! I'm not dissing him of course - they were my favorite band up to (and including) 'Kid A' - I even got to meet him once! I just haven't been as into them since then - but aside from needing a bit of a scrub up - I think Thom is sounding pretty good here on 'Lotus Flower'... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ Rare Remix! Radiohead - 'Street Spirit (Fade Out)' (Funkagenda Remix) The clips from this video featured in the Primal Scream video below reminded me of this amazing remix. Remixing this song could have been a complete disaster (and it has been - I'd recommend steering clear of the others that are out there) but this one's got class! Funkagenda released this as a limited 12" in 2008 - and a fan has looped the video to make it last nearly seven minutes as well... Enjoy!
