SummersRadio™ New Cover! Au Revoir Simone! Mazzy Star!

SummersRadio™ New Cover! Au Revoir Simone Featuring Nikolai Fraiture - 'Fade Into You'/ Au Revoir Simone - 'Boys Of Summer'

Brookyln trio Au Revoir Simone have released a new cover of Mazzy Star's modern rock classic 'Fade Into You' online! The song was first released as a single from their album 'So Tonight That I Might See' in 1994. Au Revoir Simone have posted their version on Soundcloud - which features guitarist Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes. No word yet on a commercial release.

This is Au Revoir Simone's cheerful synthpop cover of 'Fade Into You'... Enjoy!

Bonus Track! Here's another wonderful cover from Au Revoir Simone - of Don Henley's 1984  song 'Boys Of Summer' - which was released on a 2012 compilation called 'Music That Changes The World, Vol. 2 (which is available on iTunes)... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music/ Video! Mazzy Star!

SummersRadio™ New Music/ Video! Mazzy Star - 'I'm Less Here' (Official Video)

Happy 420 - and Easter - everyone! I hope that you all enjoyed Record Store Day yesterday - this is one of literally hundreds of new releases (mostly on vinyl) made available this weekend to help celebrate your local indie record shop. http://www.recordstoreday.com/

Mazzy Star have released a new song and video called 'I'm Less Here' - which is available on a limited edition 'coke-bottle' clear 7" single backed by the song 'Things'.

Although it's new in the previously unreleased sense, the origin of 'I'm Less Here' may date as far back as 1996 - as the song references 'Among My Swan' - also the name of their third album.

To set the mood perfectly the band has made a beautiful surreal video to accompany the song... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Presents... STARTLEFEST 2011 Halloween Spectacular!

SummersRadio™ Presents... STARTLEFEST 2011 Halloween Spectacular! Mazzy Star - 'Into Dust' Darkness falls. And so it begins - our second annual STARTLEFEST - 2011 Edition! This is our tip of the hat to Halloween where we feature songs beyond the typical 'Thriller's and 'Ghostbusters' you'll being hearing everywhere else.

We begin by following Mazzy Star's brand new 'Common Burn' single (posted at the common burning time of 4:20 no less!) with another Mazzy Star song that was never released as a single - but it's managed to chart several times in recent years nonetheless.

'Into Dust' is the ninth track on Mazzy Star's beautiful 1993 album 'So Tonight That I Might See'. It first charted in the U.K. in 2009 after being used in a Virgin Mobile commercial - and then it charted again this year after being used in commercials for the 'Gears Of War 3' videogame.

As it was never a proper single there's no official video for the song, but as is common with great songs, a number of fans have made their own. I like this one in particular as it suits the acoustic sparseness of the song - featuring some great photographs from a cemetery. Truth be told, the odds are pretty good that we'll all end up buried underground or set on fire at some point - reducing us all to dust in the end. That's a bit scary isn't it? Behold the frightening stillness of Mazzy Star's 'Into Dust'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Classics! Death In Vegas!

SummersRadio™ Classics! Death In Vegas - 'Girls'/ 'Help Yourself' The new Death In Vegas song 'Your Loft My Acid' that I posted yesterday got me thinking of some of their earlier material - 'Scorpio Rising' was in fact my favorite album of 2002! So I thought I'd post a couple tracks from it in case you haven't heard them in a while - or ever!

'Girls' is the opening track on the album and was featured in the movie (and soundtrack to) 'Lost In Translation'. This is a fan made video that features footage from various 1960's drug awareness films... Enjoy!

'Help Yourself' is the majestic closing track on the 'Scorpio Rising' cd and features vocals from Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Best Of 2010! Massive Attack Featuring Hope Sandoval!

SummersRadio™ Best Of 2010! Massive Attack Featuring Hope Sandoval - 'Paradise Circus' (Gui Boratto Remix) Massive Attack released their fifth proper studio album 'Heligoland' in February. 'Paradise Circus' was the first single and features the vocals of Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star fame - who has also released two albums with her newer band The Warm Inventions. She has lent her unique vocals to many other great artists as well including the Chemical Brothers, Death In Vegas, Jesus & Mary Chain, Air - and of course Massive Attack! This remix by Brazilian producer Gui Boratto was also released in February - he takes the song into dancier territory while also expanding on the spaciousness of the original... Enjoy!
