Greetings Humans. In case you wondered why there was no third annual 'Love Stinks! Valentine's Spectacular, an unkind valentine stole my laptop that day (oh the stinking irony) so I've been offline for a couple days. My apologies - and now the show must go on - back to the music I say!!
Belgium's Marco Bailey has just released an amazing new artist album called 'High Volume'! 'High Volume' features 13 original tracks and it's out now on his own MB Elektronic's label. It's currently available exclusively on Beatport m'here: http://www.beatport.com/release/high-volume/1030806
'High Volume' features an array of styles - some downtempo and chill out tunes - and thankfully plenty of mind melting techno masterpieces. I reckon this to be the finest electronic artist full length album since Gary Beck's stunner 'Bring A Friend' from last fall. 'Pink, Duim, Wijsvinger' is the first song on the EP and like yesterday's post from Dax J it's multi-layered fantastically produced monster of a tune... Enjoy!
'Alphabet' is the title track - which recites the alphabet (with some trippy vocal effects of course) over a great hypnotic groove. Now that may seem simplistic at first - but interestingly it got me thinking back to a time when I was learning it - it's just funny to think that we were once so small. And hey if you know any toddlers you could play this when they're around to help educate them - they could subliminally learn and practice the alphabet - whilst you turn them on to awesome techno at the same time... SummersRadio™ New Music! Ramon Tapia - 'The Cry' (Original Mix)/ (Secret Cinema Remix)
Belgium's Ramon Tapia has just released a new EP today called 'The Cry'! There's certainly been no shortage of early 80's revivials recently - just in the past two weeks we've had Comon's cover of Trio's 'Da Da Da' (82), Mr. Bizz's remix of Yello's 'Oh Yeah' (85) - and 'The Cry' samples the haunting xylophone hook from Tears For Fears 1983 single 'Change' from their classic debut album 'The Hurting'.
'The Cry' EP features three versions of the track - the 'Original Mix', the 'Deep Mix', and the 'Secret Cinema Remix'. It's released on the Say What? Recordings label and it's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/the-cry-ep/921791
All three versions of 'The Cry' are quite different but equally strong in their own right. I shall feature two of them - first up we have the 'Original Mix'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! John Lagora - 'Down' (Ramon Tapia Remix)
As today is St. Patrick's Day naturally I considered posting a song from an Irish artist. However, I didn't come across one that had a suitable new release out. I thought about posting some new Alan Fitzpatrick - but I discovered that's he's actually from Southampton England. So instead I've just gone with a cool new song regardless of where the artist was from - it turns out that John Lagora is from Oberhausen Germany. Now most people celebrate St. Patrick's day by drinking beer - and I'm pretty sure that the German's (like myself) generally also enjoy drinking... you know, Oktoberfest and all - so it works me! :) So... Cheers!
'Down' is a track from Lagora's new EP called 'Contrast Part II' which is released on Mindshake Records. The EP features four tracks including the 'Original Mix' of 'Down', this remix by Ramon Tapia, 'Maersk', a track called 'Dink' (!) and is the follow up to last summer's 'Contrast' EP. This song is a fine mix of Chicago Stoner House™ and trippy techno - and it features some cool cowbell sounds as well! SummersRadio™ New Music! Marco Bailey - 'Greedy Convention' (Original Mix) Belgium's Marco Bailey has just released his newest song called 'Greedy Convention' today! It's a one track single and is released on his own techno label MB Elektronics - that he formed in 2002 - and it's one sonic monster!
I'm not sure what the title is all about - a comment on recent economics perhaps? But then there are vocal samples in the song that talk about love, so perhaps not. I do know that 'Greedy Convention' begins inconspicuously enough - the hypnotic tech house groove lures you in. About two minutes in they take the song to the next level by flying into more techno territory with a parade of amazingly produced sounds that keep escalating. Then at 4:20 (!) in comes an awesome breakdown that soon builds the song even higher. I certainly don't support greedy people, but if this is the kind of music they're going to play at their convention I want in! :)

SummersRadio™ 500th Post!!! Classic! Model 500 - 'Neptune' Today we hit a milestone - our 500th post - and in less than a year - hoo-ray!! It seems fitting to begin the celebration with a classic - so a song featuring the 'Godfather Of Techno' is apt. Model 500 is a pseudonym for Juan Atkins - who is largely credited as the originator of techno - Detroit techno in particular - along with Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson.
'Neptune' is the third song on the five track 'Sonic Sunset' EP - which was released in 1994 on the legendary Belgian label R & S Records - and it's nothing short of an incredible piece of music that sounds just as amazing today.
This is a great weekend for concerts in Vancouver - last night Germany's techno/ minimal/ tech house duo Booka Shade (who've also recorded on the R & S label) performed an excellent live show at 560 - tonight I'm off to SHAHdj's 4th Anniversary party featuring Blu Mar Ten at the Red Room - and tomorrow synth pop pioneers the Human League are at the Rickshaw! So it's a busy weekend then, but I will post more tunes to celebrate our 500th post soon.

SummersRadio™ New Remixes! Aeroplane - 'My Enemy' (Green Velvet & Rex The Dog Remixes) So how was the end of the world for you? Mine was pretty good - aside from surviving I went to an amazing house warming party called 'Welcome To Wonderland' that featured a live singer, mushroom tea, a massive roof deck - and a bouncy castle! I guess the religous fanatics were wrong - who knew?!
Aeroplane is the Belgium based solo project (formerly a duo) of Vito De Luca. He released his debut album cheekily titled 'We Can't Fly' last fall on the Eskimo Recordings label. 'My Enemy' is the latest single (the fourth) released from the album and it's officially released tomorrow with two brand new remixes! They're both great so rather than choose one I thought I'd post both! First up we have London's Jake Williams aka Rex The Dog's remix... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! The Human League - 'Never Let me Go' (Aeroplane Remix) The Human League are set to release their tenth studio album called 'Credo' on March 28th! They released the first new single from it called 'Night People' in November (which for me, crossed that fine line between catchy and too repetitive).
