SummersRadio™ New Music + Classic! DJ Pierre!

SummersRadio™ New Music + Classic! DJ Pierre - 'ACiD' (DJ Pierre's ACiD FACE Mix)/ Photon, Inc. featuring Paula Brion - 'Generate Power' (Wild Pitch Mix)

Chicago's Nathaniel Pierre Jones aka DJ Pierre has just released his latest EP on the BNR Trax label! The 'Acid'/ 'Jack The Groove' EP features four tracks - the title track, two versions of 'Jack The Groove', and 'Acid Beats'. This is his own orgasmic 'ACiD FACE Mix' of 'ACiD'... Enjoy!

Classic! DJ Pierre has been part of the Chicago acid house scene for 25 years! He was a member of Phuture who released what is largely regarded as the very first acid house recording - 1987's 'Acid Trax' EP.

Pierre has worked under many aliases including Photon, Inc. - who had their first hit in 1991 on the Strictly Rhythm label. This is the 'Wild Ptch Mix' of 'Generate Power' featuring the vocals of Paula Brion - and it's classic hypnotic bassline... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Tim Xavier!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Tim Xavier - 'Monolith Prime' (Joel Mull RAMA Remix)/ 'Romperraum' (Original Mix)

Berlin based Tim Xavier has just released his latest EP called 'Modus Operandi'! Hey wait a second - I just featured a new song from Tim Xavier just 23 days ago... I've never featured the same artist in the same month before with different new releases - but he's gone and released another stellar EP already!

You can check out the excellent 'Speeding Around The Universe' from his "Reconstructions II' EP released on Enemy Records just four weeks ago here: http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2012/03/summersradio-new-music-tim-xavier.html

The 'Modus Operandi' EP features six tracks (three originals plus three remixes of two of those songs) and is released on the German Kling Klong label. It's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/modus-operandi-ep/883802

Xavier is clearly on a roll with creating some truly spacey tunes that are perfect for getting lost in - that also make one want to groove! First up we have 'Monolith Prime' which appears thrice on the EP - this is the 'Joel Mull RAMA Remix' (please note that these clips are edited - the full length of this remix is 6:59)... Enjoy!

This is the closing track on the 'Modus Operandi' EP - the 'Original Mix' of 'Romperraum' - I wonder if that might be a play on 'Romper Room'? Whatever it's about - you'd best prepare for the ride! :)

Fyi the full length of this track is 7:25... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Video! Dum Dum Girls!

SummersRadio™ New Video! Dum Dum Girls - 'Coming Down' (video)

Dum Dum Girls have just released a new video online for their single 'Coming Down'! We first featured 'Coming Down' last July when it was released as a limited free download as a taster from their second album 'Only In Dreams' which came out in September http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2011/07/summersradio-new-music-free-download_22.html.

I fell in love with the song instantly and it landed in the top five of my Top 25 Rock & Indie songs of 2011 here: http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2011/12/summersradio-best-of-2011-countdowns_9901.html

'Coming Down' received a limited released on 7" vinyl in September but an official video has only been released this week - and it's directed by band member Malia James. It uses the 7" edited version of the song and it appears to be a tribute of sorts to a live performance art piece by Yoko Ono.

Yoko first performed 'Cut Piece' in 1964 in Japan where she sat kneeling on the stage wearing her best suit of clothing, with a pair of scissors placed on the floor in front of her. Audience members were invited to approach the stage one at a time, and cut a bit of her clothes off. They chose which part to cut - and they were allowed to keep their piece. Here's a photo from a 'Cut Piece' performance in 1965 in New York:

While I love this song - and Yoko Ono (you can check out my celebration of her birthday last month here: http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2012/02/summersradio-new-music-remixes-yoko-ono.html) I'm currently undecided as to how well this video fits with the song itself. I might just prefer the original non-official slide show video which can be seen in the first link above - particularly because the song is unedited there (over two minutes longer) but regardless this new video is still a fine opportunity to give this beautiful song another listen... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Radiohead!

SummersRadio™ New Remix + Free Download! Radiohead - 'Codex' (Party Ben Remix)

Party Ben has just released his latest remix online - of Radiohead's 'Codex'! Ben Gill aka Party Ben is a dj/ producer/ radio host based in San Francisco. We've previously featured a couple of his remixes - excellent mashups of Blur and Kasabian and Snow Patrol vs The Police - which you can check out/ revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2012/02/summersradio-new-music-free-download_26.html
and m'here: http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2012/01/summersradio-concert-news-new-music-new.html

This is his latest remix - of 'Codex' from Radiohead's 'The King Of Limbs' album which was inspired by 'Nadastrom & Sabo's remix of Jamie xx, and, sort of, Gus Gus' - I definitely dig the Gus Gus 'Polydistortion' style keyboard influences here! If this remix is to your liking you can download a copy for free simply by clicking on the download icon below - you can also keep up with Party Ben on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/therealpartyben

SummersRadio™ New Music! Sigur Rós!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Sigur Rós - 'Ekki Múkk'

Iceland's Sigur Rós have just released a new song online called 'Ekki Múkk'! The song is the first single and video from their forthcoming new studio album (their sixth) called 'Valtari'. 'Valtari' will feature eight new songs and is set for release on May 28th - here's the album cover art and full tracklisting with all the accents in place :)

Valtari:

0

1 Êg Anda
0

2 Ekki Múkk

03 Varúð

04 Rembihnûtur
0

5 Dauðalogn
0
6 Varðeldur
0
7 Valtari
08 Fjögur Píanó

The album's title 'Valtari' means 'Steamroller' - in an interview with Q Magazine singer Jónsi Birgisson says that "the music kind of just rolls over you" (but) "in a good way." If there's such a thing as an afterlife I would imagine that the music playing upon one's arrival would sound something like this - this is 'Ekki Múkk'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Compilation! Bedrock's The Underground Sound Of Miami!

SummersRadio™ New Compilation! Bedrock Records - 'The Underground Sound Of Miami' Maher Daniel & Casa (aka Mike Casa) - 'Music, Machines & Life' (Original Mix)/ Mark Reeve, Dean Demanuele, Pig & Dan - 'Machines' (Original Mix)/ Robert Babicz - 'Echo From The Past' (Original Mix)

Today marks the final day of this year's Winter Music Conference - which has been held annually each March in Miami since 1985! This year marks this first year that Bedrock Records (the label started by John Digweed and Nick Muir in 1999) has released their own label sampler for the event. 'The Underground Sound Of Miami' features ten exclusive new tracks (unmixed) and is currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/underground-sound-of-miami/876736

I've chosen three standout tracks to feature - two spacey techno numbers involving machines, and an uplifting echo from the past. First up we have the sixth track on the compilation from Maher Daniel and Casa (aka Mike Casa) called 'Music, Machines & Life'... Enjoy!

This is the eighth track on the compilation from Mark Reeve, Dean Demanuele, and Pig & Dan - with another trippy tune about music an machines - this one is simply called 'Machines'... Enjoy!

This is the third track on the compilation - a new uplifting progressive house tune from Germany's Robert Babicz called 'Echo From The Past'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Laurent Garnier!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Laurent Garnier featuring The L.B.S. Crew - 'Our Futur' (Detroit Mix)

France's techno legend Laurent Garnier is releasing a new EP called 'Timeless' on April 1st! 'Timeless' is a three track EP featuring 'Jacques In The Box' and two remixes of 'Our Futur' - the 'Loud Disco Mix' and the 'Detroit Mix' - and it's out on the Ed Banger Records label.

The full EP will be available on itunes on April 1st, but Beatport has an exclusive advance release of this 'Detroit Mix' of 'Our Futur' available now: http://www.beatport.com/#release/timeless/885419

The feel of this song fits in well with the EP's name - as it certainly has a timeless quality to it. On one hand it seems a bit familiar - with it's Giorgio Moroder and early Detroit techno influences - musically speaking it sounds like it could be from some classic sci-fi film soundtrack. But it also sounds current - with the robotic vocal bits featuring positive lyrics about our future. It clocks in at over nine minutes long and suggests to me that the future could very well be quite the epic journey... :) Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Rare Remix! E.L.O.!

SummersRadio™ Rare Remix! Electric Light Orchestra - 'Last Train To London' (House de la Funk Remix)

As noted in yesterday's Chemical Brothers post it seems that people are bringing E.L.O. back - from Boston's Magnetic Fields to Manchester's Coronation Street - or at least some people in their respective crews are :) So I thought I'd do my part for Canada by posting a rare remix of their song 'Last Train To London' from their number one album from 1979 called 'Discovery'.

E.L.O. were from Birmingham England and were pretty cool back in the day - they used both keyboards and an orchestra prominently - and they even later toured with a spaceship stage complete with lasers! 'Last Train To London' was released as a double A-side single coupled with 'Confusion' and it reached the top 10 in the U.K. at the end of 1979 and it scraped into the top 40 in North American at the start of 1980.

This is a rare remix by House de la Funk - a one man project from Pereira Colombia. This is his house remix from 2009 - although quite frankly he didn't have to change too much as it was already a great dance tune with an awesome bassline and massive keyboard hooks... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Videos! The Chemical Brothers!

SummersRadio™ New Videos! The Chemical Brothers - 'Star Guitar' (Live In Japan)/ 'Don't Think' (Live In Japan)

The Chemical Brothers have just released two new videos online! Both are from their new live film called 'Don't Think: A Film By Adam Smith' which had a limited theatrical release last month, and is released for sale on March 26th. It will be released in three different formats - a cd/ dvd combo, a cd/ blu-ray combo, and there's also a limited edition 10" book format featuring exclusive images - that also includes the cd and dvd. You can pre-order them here: http://widgets.platform.emi.com/landing/64aa63cf3e5a44c2a20b9276045b719d.html

(Just as a side note... I usually try to do a new post everyday - but I missed doing one yesterday as I was kept busy with a trip to suburbia to the Red Robinson Theatre in Coquitlam to meet and greet William Roache - who plays Ken Barlow on the legendary British soap Coronation Street. Yes, I'm a massive Corrie fan! :) For those who don't know the show takes place in the fictional town of Weatherfield - which is based on the city of Salford - a suburb of Manchester - which is where The Chemical Brothers hail from, so it seems fitting to be featuring them today!

Here's an interesting bit of synchronicity for you - I saw the Magnetic Fields in concert on Sunday - and the first song they played over the speakers at the end of the show was E.L.O's 'Mr. Blue Sky' - and at the William Roache show last night they started his show off with a ten minute video featuring highlights from the first 52 years (!) of Coronation Street - and one of the three songs used to soundtrack it was 'Mr. Blue Sky'!)

Ok, back to The Chems...

The film has received rave reviews - here are a few quotes... Mixmag gives it five out of five stars and calls it 'the cinematic even of the decade', The Word calls it 'Phenomenally exciting - could well be the most thrilling live movie ever', and The Sunday Telegraph calls it 'An astonishing, celluloid rush of blood to the head'. So, it's good then? :)

Having seen The Chemical Brothers live (and met them - more on that below) I can certainly vouch for their mind blowing live shows. It's not just their music that has made them both pioneers and masters of electronica music - it's also been their live shows featuring their amazing visuals and light shows. Here's a clip from their new film 'Don't Think' - this is 'Star Guitar' (Live In Japan)... Enjoy!

The dvd/ blu-ray features 20 tracks and the cd features 10 - here are the full tracklistings...

Before I post the next video released from 'Don't Think' (Live In Japan) I'll tell you an interesting anecdote from when I met The Chemical Brothers. It was on the tour for their third album 'Surrender' in 1999. They were performing at The Forum here in Vancouver and DJ Shadow was opening. Shadow was amazing as always but mid way through his set we had to go to an office at the side of the venue to meet Tom and Ed.

I brought the cd cover with me (as I usually do to any concert - just in case - although this meeting was pre-arranged) for them to sign. I got to chat with Tom first for a while and then I asked him if he'd sign my cd - he said that he'd have to get a marker first. I replied that I had one as I like to be prepared. He then went on to say how that was the original title of that album - they originally intended to call it 'Be Prepared'. It was 1999 after all with it's pre-millennium tensions and uncertainty about what the future and the year 2000 would hold - Y2K was a genuine fear at the time. However after further thought they decided to go the totally opposite route and call it 'Surrender' instead - true story!

Needless to say their show that night was amazing and was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. So I'm looking forward to the cd/ dvd release of 'Don't Think' on Monday - this is the video for the title track from the film... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Green Velvet & Harvard Bass!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Green Velvet & Harvard Bass - 'Kickin It' (Original Mix)

Chicago electronica/ techno legend Curtis Jones aka Green Velvet (among other monikers) has teamed up with San Diego dj/ producer Victor Ramos aka Harvard Bass for his newest release! The pair have just released the two track 'Jumbo Mumbo' EP on the Relief Records label featuring the original mixes of the title track - and a song called 'Kickin It' - and it's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/jumbo-mumbo-ep/877475

I'm not a big fan of the vocal sample on the title track - I actually think they should have called this the 'Kickin It' EP - as it's the b-side that's the real standout here. The song is a classic disco/ house/ techno hybrid - think Giorgio Moroder style backing synths with classic Green Velvet soul filled vocals. The only thing I wish were different about this track was that it was twice as long - ten minutes instead of five (this video is edited slightly) because it's that awesome! Enjoy...!

SummersRadio™ New Music! The Magnetic Fields!

SummersRadio™ New Music! The Magnetic Fields - 'The Horrible Party'/ 'God Wants Us To Wait'/ 'Andrew In Drag' (video)

Boston's Magnetic Fields are performing in Vancouver tonight! When I last posted The Magnetic Fields it was in December to announce this show - but there wasn't any new music available at the time, so instead I posted three of my favorites from the band which you can check out here: http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2011/12/summersradio-concert-news-magnetic.html

Their new album 'Love At The Bottom Of The Sea' was released on March 6th on Merge Records. The 15 track album is available on download, as well as on cd and vinyl. Now I wanted to post my favorite song from it first - 'The Horrible Party' - as it seemed most fitting for an ironic post St. Patrick's Day post - and not only for the song title itself - both the musical backing and singer Claudia Gonson's delivery sound almost Irish.

But alas, 'The Horrible Party' is not available for sharing anywhere. I tried to upload it to Soundcloud (with the download function disabled - as always) but it was blocked by EMI Australia. I must say that it's a sad state of affiars with all the modern technology we have, that you can't simply play a song for someone - unless you use illegal file sharing sites - which I've never endorsed. All I want to do is allow people to hear it - not steal it - just listen to it in hopes that they'll like it, and consider buying it. I'm having a deja-vu here - you can check out my recent rant against UMG and the new Arcade Fire track here if you missed it: http://summersradio.blogspot.ca/2012/03/summersradio-new-music-arcade-fire.html

*UPDATE* 'The Horrible Party'! The last line of the song is the clincher... Enjoy!

So - on to my next favorite track on the new album then - which is available to share on Youtube - for now anyway!

This is the album's opening song called 'God Wants Us To Wait'... Enjoy!

'Andrew In Drag' is the first official single - and video - from the new album. It features some catchy lyrics - although I've never been a fan of the f-bomb - and I don't mean fuck :) 'Andrew In Drag' is also available as a 7" vinyl single - I like the slight variation on the album's covert art for it's artwork:

This is the video for their latest single 'Andrew In Drag'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! John Lagora!

SummersRadio™ New Music! John Lagora - 'Down' (Ramon Tapia Remix)

As today is St. Patrick's Day naturally I considered posting a song from an Irish artist. However, I didn't come across one that had a suitable new release out. I thought about posting some new Alan Fitzpatrick - but I discovered that's he's actually from Southampton England. So instead I've just gone with a cool new song regardless of where the artist was from - it turns out that John Lagora is from Oberhausen Germany. Now most people celebrate St. Patrick's day by drinking beer - and I'm pretty sure that the German's (like myself) generally also enjoy drinking... you know, Oktoberfest and all - so it works me! :) So... Cheers!

'Down' is a track from Lagora's new EP called 'Contrast Part II' which is released on Mindshake Records. The EP features four tracks including the 'Original Mix' of 'Down', this remix by Ramon Tapia, 'Maersk', a track called 'Dink' (!) and is the follow up to last summer's 'Contrast' EP. This song is a fine mix of Chicago Stoner House™ and trippy techno - and it features some cool cowbell sounds as well! The EP is currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/contrast-part-ii/875722

Please note that this is an edit - the full song is eight minutes and eight seconds long - so you have more than three more bonus minutes to get down. This is the new remix of 'Down' from Belgium's Ramon Tapia... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Hot Chip!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Hot Chip - 'Flutes'/ 'I Feel Better'

London's Hot Chip have just released a new song online called 'Flutes'! It's not clear at this point if 'Flutes' will be the first official single or not - but it's definitely the first new song released online from their forthcoming new album (their fifth) called 'In Our Heads' which is set for release on June 11th on the Domino Records label.

Domino Records have just posted this new video online of the band in the studio - featuring lots of spinning camera shots. Now I'm pretty sure that cameras don't get dizzy - but this is yet another SummersRadio™ 4:20 post :) - so even if you're not indulging in any illegal non-medicinal activity, you may feel some slight dizziness with this post anyway!

'Flutes' sounds like another fine Hot Chip tune - with typically soulful vocals and some occasionally trippy danceable synthesized grooves... Enjoy!

Bonus Track! 'I Feel Better' was the second single released from Hot Chip's last album - 2010's 'One Life Stand'. Yes, I hate that they use autotune in this song - of course you get the full irony of it in this video - but they're still using it! However, in time I've been able to forgive them for doing so - especially with beautifully simplistic lyrics like 'When you hold me, I feel better' :)

This is the highlarious fake boy band destroying video for 'I Feel Better'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music + New Video! Orbital!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Orbital featuring Zola Jesus - 'New France' (video)/ (L-Vis 1990's Rewound Mix)/ (Tom Middleton Cosmos Mix)

It's time for a puppet show - hoo-ray! Orbital have just released their new video for their new official single called 'New France' - and it stars a large puppet lion who likes to party! 'New France' is the new single from their forthcoming eighth studio album - amusingly called 'Wonky' - which is set for release on April 2nd on the ACP Recordings label.

'Wonky' will be available on all formats including a regular and deluxe digital download, a single and double cd, and on vinyl as well. The regular download/ single cd features nine new tracks, and the deluxe download/ double cd feaures an additional five live audio tracks. All five are classics that were recorded live in Australia last year - including 'Lush', 'Impact', 'Satan', 'Belfast', and 'Chime/Crime'. The deluxe download also features two video tracks - for 'Never' and 'Straight Sun'.

The new single 'New France' is the first official single from the 'Wonky' album (although 'Never' and 'Straight Sun' have been released on the interweb) and it's available on itunes now. There's also a new four track remix EP of the song being released on Monday featuring remixes from L-Vis 1990, Tom Middleton, and The Hydraulic Dogs. First let's start with the party lion and the new video which isn't even officially on Youtube yet - it's 'unlisted' which means that only those with the link can see it - it doesn't even show up in Youtube searches!

This is the awesome brand new video for 'New France' which features guest vocals from American singer Nika Roza Danilova aka Zola Jesus... Enjoy!

The 'New France' remix EP out next week features the single version plus three mixes - and all three are pretty solid so I couldn't post just one. This remix from London's L-Vis 1990 is my favorite thus far - there are fewer vocals, some nice squelchy acid sounds, and it just seems to be the most Orbital to me :) ... Enjoy!

This 'Tom Middleton Cosmos Mix' is also to my liking... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Miike Snow!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Miike Snow featuring Lykke Li - 'Black Tin Box'/ Miike Snow - 'Devil's Work' (Alex Metric Remix)

Swedish electronic pop trio Miike Snow have just released their new album online this week! 'Happy To You' is the band's second album and the follow up to their self titled 2009 debut. There will be several versions of the release available - the deluxe digital version features 14 songs - two regular tracks plus two additional remixes, along with two video tracks and is available now on itunes.

The album will also be released physically on a single cd, double cd, and on vinyl on March 26th (U.K.)/ 27th (North America). The single disc features only ten tracks, the vinyl has all 12, and the 'Happy To You' Deluxe Edition double cd features the same 12, plus the two remixes featured on the deluxe digital version, plus an additional three remixes exclusive to this package!

'Black Tin Box' is not a single - yet - but I suspect it will be soon. It's certainly one of the album's standout tracks and it features guest vocals from fellow Swedish singer Li Lykke Timotej Svensson Zachrisson aka Lykke Li... Enjoy!

This is one of the remixes featured on both the deluxe digital and double cd version of 'Happy To You' - a remix of the album track 'Devil's Work' by Alex Metric... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music + Bonus Tracks! Gossip!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Gossip - 'Perfect World'/ 'Standing In The Way Of Control' (Tronik Youth Remix)/ 'Heavy Cross' (Burns Remix)

Portland's Gossip (now sans 'The') have just released their new single online today! 'Perfect World' is the first single from their forthcoming fifth album which is called 'A Joyful Noise' and is set for release on May 22nd. The eleven track album is produced by Brian Higgins aka Xenomania and 'Perfect World' is available on itunes as of today.

I have mixed feelings on this song - Beth Ditto's vocals sound amazing as always -but I find the musical backing terribly ordinary. I reckon that this has more to do with the 'hit' producer than the band itself. Regardless, I should mention that this is not unprecedented - although I'm indeed a fan of the band I tend to favor some of their remixes over some of the regular singles themselves. Thus I look forward to some remixes of this new single - and in the meantime I will feature a couple of remixes of their earlier tracks as well!

For now - this is the first taste of their new album - this is 'Perfect World'... Enjoy!

Bonus Track #1! 'Standing In The Way Of Control' was Gossip's breakthrough single - although it took a couple years to do so. It was first released as a single in North America in 2005, it was released in the U.K. the following year, and then it reached the top 10 when it was re-released in 2007. This remix is from the 2006 U.K. 12" single - this is the 'Tronik Youth Remix'... Enjoy!

Bonus Track #2! 'Heavy Cross' was the first single released from their 2009 album 'Music For Men' - this is the excellent 'Burns Remix'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Superhero!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Superhero - 'Drugs And Choices' (Original Mix)

Superhero have just released their debut EP called 'Drugs And Choices' today! Superhero are a new duo - a collaboration between two Italian artists known as Leon and Toky. Their debut EP features three tracks - the 'Original Mix' of the title track, a remix of it from Pirupa, and a third track called 'It's Not For You'. It's out today on the German label Noir Music and it's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/drugs-and-choices/876725

This is the 'Original Mix' of 'Drugs And Choices' - the song has a great bassline, funky hi-hats, and lyrics that I suspect many of us can relate to... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music + Bonus Tracks! Air!

SummersRadio™ New Music + Bonus Tracks! Air - 'Cosmic Trip'/ 'Sonic Armada'/ 'Playground Love (Vibraphone Version)/ (Nosferatu Mix By Flower Pistols)

Air is everywhere. It's true - even as I'm writing this a commercial just came on for a Samsung Galaxy tabletphone featuring their song 'Alone In Kyoto' - which was first featured in the 2003 film 'Lost In Translation' - and included on their 2004 album 'Talkie Walkie'. Although I've already featured four songs from their new album 'Le Voyage Dans La Lune' including the first single 'Seven Stars' back in December: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/12/summersradio-new-music-air-featuring.html and three other standout tracks 'Astronomic Club', 'Parade', and 'Lava' on the day the album was released (in North America) last month: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2012/02/summersradio-new-music-air.html I'm going to feature a couple more tracks from it today - because it's that good!

I've been listening to the cd several times this weekend - and I found a solution to my one criticism of it - that it's a bit short - as it clocks in at a mere 31 minutes and 22 seconds. I've discovered that if you play the recording on repeat several times that it sounds much longer - and strangely familiar :)

So lets travel deeper dans la lune - 'join us with no fear on our fantastic trip to the moon'. This is the ninth track on the album called 'Cosmic Trip' which features some wonderful xylophone style synth sounds and some truly cosmic backing strings action... Enjoy!

This is the fifth track on 'Le Voyage Dans La Lune' called 'Sonic Armada' - an instrumental jam featuring an electric sitar and synths that occasionally sound like a record scratching - perhaps the closest Air will ever come to writing a Beastie Boys tune... Enjoy!

Bonus Tracks! Of course 'Le Voyage Dans La Lune' is not Air's first foray into film inspired recordings - there was of course their score to the 2000 film 'The Virgin Suicides' - which included the single 'Playground Love'.

'Playground Love' was cowritten with - and features the lead vocals of - Gordon Tracks. Here are two very different remixes of the song - starting with the instrumental 'Vibraphone Version' which was released as a bonus track on the Japanese version of the cd, and on the 'Playground Love' EP/ single... Enjoy!

This is another remix from the 'Playground Love' EP - the 'Nosferatu Remix By Flower Pistols' - a radically remodeled version featuring some drug induced saxamaphone and even some cowbell... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! The Junkies!

SummersRadio™ New Music! The Junkies - 'Au Jour Le Jour'/ 'Tuco'

Toronto duo The Junkies have just released their new EP called 'Au Jour Le Jour' this week! The EP features five tracks - the title track, 'Tuco', and 'Werq This' - as well as two dj tool tracks. It's released on the SCI-TEC Digital Audio label and is currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/au-jour-le-jour/868770

We recently featured the The Junkies (along with Carlo Lio) remix of Ron Costa's new single 'La Cage Invisible' which you can check out here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2012/02/summersradio-new-music-remix-ron-costa.html and you can keep up with them on Facebook m'here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Junkies/378651985599

The Junkies cover a lot of ground within just three songs on their new EP - minimal, tech-house, and techno - and I've chosen my two favorites. First up we have the title - and third track - 'Au Jour Le Jour' - an excellent mix of jackin' house and spacey techno. Please note that only edits are available for sharing - if you decide to purchase the track it's an amazing 8 minutes and 40 seconds long - so over five more minutes of trippy greatness... Enjoy!

This is the first song on the EP called 'Tuco' - the full version of this song is 7 minutes and 22 seconds... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Clouds!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Clouds - 'Optic'

Scotland's Clouds have just released their new EP called 'Optic' this week! 'Optic' is a four track EP featuring the original mix of the title track, 'Future Blaster', 'Vaults', and a remix of 'Optic' by Jesper Dahlback. It's released on Tiga's Turbo Recordings label and it's available on both itunes and Beatport. Helpful hint: if this song is to your liking it's much cheaper on itunes :)

We previously featured a couple of tracks from their excellent EP called 'Matter', which was released on Turbo's new sublabel Twin Turbo in December - which you can check out/ revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/12/summersradio-new-music-clouds.html

All four songs on the EP are solid, but it's the original version of 'Optic' that I like best. This is one quality tune from start to finish - I particularly dig the ultra spaced out feedback-induced vocal bits, and the funky driving percussion... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Bart Skils!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Bart Skils - 'All About The Music' (Original Mix)/ 'Everything Just Dark (Original Mix)

Amsterdam's Bart Skils has just released a new EP called 'All About The Music' this week! 'All About The Music' is a two track EP featuring the original mixes of the title track and a song called 'Everything Just Dark'. It's released on the Break New Soil Recordings label - the German techno label founded by Gregor Tresher - and it's currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/all-about-the-music/873143

Bart Skils released several excellent tracks last year including 'Dust' which made our Best Of 2011 year end lists which you can check out/ revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/07/summersradio-new-music-bart-skils.html and you can keep up with Bart on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/djbartskils

Both songs are melodic and hypnotic - and rather seismic in nature - so I shall feature both tracks! The label's description of the EP as a double-A side is apt! This is the first A side - a song that is actually about SummersRadio™ :) This is 'All About The Music'... Enjoy!

This is the other excellent A side - 'Everything Just Dark'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Download! Saint Motel!

SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Download! Saint Motel - 'Honest Feedback'

L.A.'s Saint Motel have just released a brand new single called 'Honest Feedback' online! It was only just over a month ago that the band released the new video for their previous single 'At Least I Have Nothing' which you can check out/ revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2012/02/summersradio-new-video-saint-motel.html and they've already posted a new follow up single on Soundcloud which is available as a free download for a limited time.

'Honest Feedback' includes the lines "So many people again and again, They make their enemies telling the truth to their friends" - which explains the songs title - but there's something else going on here too. The line 'Your tongue's magic' is so overtly sexual without being explicit - it's perfect! The song has a summery laid back feel - it reminds a bit of one of The Bravery's more chilled tunes - their earlier material, before they got a bit lame.

This is Saint Motel's new single 'Honest Feedback' and if it's to your liking just click the download icon for your free download courtesy of the band themselves... Enjoy!

Bonus Track! The Bravery - 'An Honest Mistake' (Superdiscount Remix)

'An Honest Mistake' was The Bravery's first single from their self titled debut album which was released in 2005. This is the 'Superdiscount Remix' by France's Etienne De Crecy aka Superdiscount which was included on the cd single for their third single 'Unconditional'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Burial & Four Tet - 'Nova'

London's Will Bevan and Kieran Hebden aka Burial and Four Tet have just released a new song online called 'Nova'! 'Nova' was just posted on Soundcloud by Four Tet yesterday - without any accompanying comments or detailed information about it - but that hasn't stopped in from amassing nearly 200,000 plays already!

'Nova' carries on nicely from last evening's experimental tunes from Ian Ross - Burial and Four Tet head in a more housey direction - albeit via a drifting, ambient route... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Downloads! Ian Ross!

SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Downloads! Ian Ross - 'The C-130 Feedback Rig Jam Pt. 1'/ 'The C-130 Feedback Rig Jam Pt. 2'

So a couple days ago we ventured sometime into the future with the new Arcade Fire song from 'The Hunger Games' soundtrack - then we were off 'Speeding Around The Universe' with Tim Xavier - and then we let go of 'Gravity' with Pan-Pot. Tonight we fly into deep space - perhaps even into a black hole! :)

Ian Ross aka C-130 is a Vancouver electronic artist who makes 'minimal/micro/techno/house with some organic leanings... periodically with eastern & latin influences'. Ross has just recorded two new ambient/ experimental/ noise tracks which came about thusly:

'So last night I'm sitting at my desk trying to find the source of a faint pulse, and realized it was gurgle of some static or something caught in a delay vst I had running in my Ableton 'feedback sculptor' set. It was a nice sound, so I hit record & started fiddling, using the other effects I have in the set, and this is what I wound up with. No synths, beats, instruments, edits, tracking or overdubs. Just effects back & thru each other. It's pretty rough going but I think quite intense & beautiful if you go right through it. And very cyclical... think Steve Reich vs Merzbow.'

Parts 1 and 2 of 'The C-130 Feedback Rig Jam' are both intriguing and hypnotic, but actually quite different. Part 1 clocks in around eight and a half minutes in length with an assortment of usual sounds popping up that both startle and entrance. Part 2 runs for nearly 25 minutes and is a full on journey into the unknown! This is where we may slip into a black hole, or perhaps somewhere otherworldly.

The good news is that if either or both tracks are to your liking they're both available as a free download from C-130's Soundcloud page here: http://soundcloud.com/c-130-1 (or simply click on the respective download icons)

First up we have 'The C-130 Feedback Rig Jam Pt. 1'... Enjoy!

And this is 'The C-130 Feedback Rig Jam Pt. 2' - prepare to be transported... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Pan-Pot!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Pan-Pot featuring G-Tech - 'Gravity' (Original Mix)/ Pan-Pot featuring Cari Golden 'No One Knows' (Original Mix)/ Pan-Pot featuring G-Tech - 'Gravity' (Safeword's Outer Sunset Mix)/ (Safeword's Tenderloin Mix)

Berlin duo Pan-Pot have just released an excellent 4 track EP called 'Gravity' this week! The 'Gravity' EP features three versions of the title track - the original plus two remixes from San Francisco duo Safeword - and a song called 'No One Knows', and is released on the Mobilee Records label. 'No One Knows' features the vocals of Cari Golden - who also sang lead vocals on Pan-Pot's previous single ' Captain My Captain' which you can check out/ revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/02/summersradio-new-remix-pan-pot.html

Pan-Pot are also presenting the next Mobilee label compilation called 'Back To Back Vol. 6' which is a double cd plus dvd release - with the first cd featuring Pan-Pot's 'Best Of Mobilee 2011' selections, and disc two is a mix cd. The compilation is set for release on March 26th. You can check out the full tracklisting and pre-order it from Mobilee's official website here: http://www.mobilee-records.de/releases/pan-pot-mobilee-back-to-back-vol-6-presented-by-pan-pot-mobileecd014 and you can keep up with Pan-Pot on Facebook m'here: http://www.facebook.com/PanPotOfficial

'Gravity' expands on the futuristic/ spacey theme of our last couple posts - and in fact both yesterday's 'Speeding Around The Universe' and today's song 'Gravity' feature the same trippy booming New York vocalist - although he's officially billed as George Rontiris on the former, and by his aka moniker G-Tech on the latter!

All three versions of 'Gravity' are really good (as is the b-side track 'No One Knows') and I'd normally narrow it down to one or two mixes, however there are currently only four minute edits available for sharing of each track - so I'm going to post the entire EP preview so you can have a taste of each delicious track!

The 'Gravity' EP is currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/gravity/872047 and here's the full tracklisting and song length times for the full length version of each track in case you're considering purchasing one or more of them - as each song contains an extra 2¾ to 3½ minutes of techno/ house goodness!

1. 'Gravity' (Original Mix) 7:35
2. 'No One Knows' 7:28
3. 'Gravity' (Safeword's Outer Sunset Mix) 6:59
4. 'Gravity' (Safeword's Tenderloin Mix) 6:46

Enjoy...

SummersRadio™ New Music! Tim Xavier featuring George Rontiris - 'Speeding Around The Universe' (Dustin Zhan Monolith Remix)

Tim Xavier is an American artist/ dj/ producer currently based in Berlin - and he's just released his latest EP called 'Reconstructions II' on Enemy Records this week! 'Speeding Around The Universe' was first released in December on Xavier's own LTD400 label, and now two remixes of it by Dustin Zhan - along with two remixes of his track 'Get Up Off My Cloud' by Dirty McKenzie - appear on this EP which is currently available exclusively on Beatport: http://www.beatport.com/#release/reconstructions-ii/873469

This track is perfect for where I'm at right now - it's been one of those days where I'd like to get off of earth for a few hours - or days :) This is the 'Dustin Zhan Monolith Remix' of 'Speeding Around The Universe' featuring the vocals of New York's George 'G-Tech' Rontiris... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Arcade Fire!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Arcade Fire - 'Abraham's Daughter'

Montreal's Arcade Fire have just released a brand new song online today! 'Abraham's Daughter' itself doesn't sound like a very commerical tune - but it's certainly getting the marketing push of one. The song is from the forthcoming soundtrack to the 'The Hunger Games' film - and was premiered today by Entertainment Weekly!

'The Hunger Games' film is based on the novel (the first of a triology) by Suzanne Collins and is released on March 23rd - with the soundtrack set for release on March 20th. The diverse soundtrack also features artists such as The Decemberists, The Low Anthem, Kid Cudi, Birdy, and Neko Case. The sci-fi film takes place in the nation of Panem, which formed sometime in the future on what is known now as North America - and the story of the 'Hunger Games' - which is a competition that involves a contestant that tries to kill everyone else until only one person is left alive.

I'm not a fan a violence at all so I'll certainly pass on seeing the film, but I do like this new track from Arcade Fire. 'Abraham's Daughter' features the band's Regine Cassagne on lead vocals singing about the biblical tale of Abraham and Isaac - I like the guitar sound/ feedback and the overall mood of this one... Enjoy!

** UPDATE March 6th: Apparently the world's largest record label (Universal Music Group) has so lost touch with what being a record company is supposed to be about that they're pulling out out all the stops to PREVENT people from hearing the new Arcade Fire track! All Youtube videos are being blocked, and all tracks on Soundcloud have been removed. I always thought it was the record companies job to get people to HEAR/ LISTEN to their artists music - to make them want to buy it - not to keep it away from them. We just want to listen to it, not steal it UMG! Here's a tip for you UMG - back in olden times radio stations used to play and break new music - but they don't do that anymore, so people have to listen it on the world wide web. So if you want people to hear it legitimately - without going to illegal file sharing sites and possibly stealing it in the process because it's not available to purchase yet - stop blocking it YOU MORONS!! **

Naturally I will repost a new link as soon as one becomes available. And in the meantime I apologise for UMG's ignorance :) and please check out the link below that includes a free download of a remix of their song 'Rebellion (Lies)'...
