Whitey aptly describes the album as 'The future colliding with the past' - and it's an interesting mix of indie rock, experimental electronica, and eighties synth pop and new wave. 'Lost Summer' has a great flow and feel to it from start to finish. You can listen to the entire album from the link above but I've chosen to feature my three initial favorite tracks upon first listen.
The fourth track 'Saturday Night Ate Our Lives' seems like an obvious choice for a single. It ponders ones thoughts following perhaps not just a another wild Saturday night out - but one (or more?) that may have been rather excessive. Yeah, I know that feeling :) Meanwhile the music itself is so upbeat and cheerful (including cowbell!) that I reckon it will (ironically?) soundtrack many a Saturday evening party this summer anyway - I know it will be at Club English Bay here in Vancouver (aka my apartment)... This album closer is called 'See You Next Time', and like the rest of the album it features some great reflective lyrics. I love the line 'If we can run through the night we can follow where the lost have gone'... Enjoy!

Summer Fiction are an indie pop band from Philadelphia led by Bill Ricchini - who writes and produces all of their songs. Sleeping Bags are a four piece 'loud' indie rock band that released their self titled debut album in September on the EasterEverywhere label. They've released two proper singles from the album so far - 'Park' and a remix of 'Cantaloupe' (which are both available on 7" singles) and now 'Shark'.
SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Download! Duchess Leo - 'The Tracks Of My Tears' Brooklyn's indie/ folk/ pop/ electronic duo Duchess Leo have just released a new five track EP online this week! It's called 'These For Those: Volume 1' and it's the first to come of a free two EP set available from Whale Heart Records.
The 'These For Those: Volume 1' EP is a collection of songs recorded between their self-titled debut EP in 2009 and their debut album 'Golden Gray' which was released this January. The opening track on the new 'These For Those: Volume 1' EP is a cover of the Smokey Robinson & The Miracles classic 'The Tracks Of My Tears' - released on Motown in 1965. 'The Tracks Of My Tears' is the most covered Smokey Robinson & The Miracles song - and Billy Bragg, Dolly Parton, Bryan Ferry and UB40 are just a few on a long list of diverse artists who've also recorded it. While clearly a song about being broken hearted, the original song sounds rather cheerful really - whereas Duchess Leo go for a more crestfallen take.
The song begins starkly with just acoustic guitar and organ - then the electric guitar elevates the sadness to cries of frustration - which is soon soothed with some lovely strings - and I always enjoy some well placed strings :) and sparkly xylophone sounds. Glowbug - 'Where Is My Mind'/ 'Shoplifters Of The World Unite' Bellingham's Glowbug have just released a new EP called 'Covered In Lights Vol. 1' online today! Glowbug is the name given to the electronic project of musician/ producer Daniel Anderson - who's also a member of the indie folk outfit The Ghost And The Grace, and a founding member of the band Idiot Pilot.
He's just released Glowbug's latest 4 track EP of covers called 'Covered In Lights Vol. 1' - which features covers of songs from indie rock heavyweights The Pixies, The Smiths, Radiohead and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's!
