This is track five from the 'These For Those: Vol. 2' EP called 'Let's Go, Just You & Me' - a guitar based instrumental that also includes some lovely strings and keyboard bits further in. Despite not having any lyrics, as the title suggests the song has a nice romantic feel to it - I think it's quite purdy... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Download! Duchess Leo - 'The Tracks Of My Tears' Brooklyn's indie/ folk/ pop/ electronic duo Duchess Leo have just released a new five track EP online this week! It's called 'These For Those: Volume 1' and it's the first to come of a free two EP set available from Whale Heart Records.
The 'These For Those: Volume 1' EP is a collection of songs recorded between their self-titled debut EP in 2009 and their debut album 'Golden Gray' which was released this January. The opening track on the new 'These For Those: Volume 1' EP is a cover of the Smokey Robinson & The Miracles classic 'The Tracks Of My Tears' - released on Motown in 1965. 'The Tracks Of My Tears' is the most covered Smokey Robinson & The Miracles song - and Billy Bragg, Dolly Parton, Bryan Ferry and UB40 are just a few on a long list of diverse artists who've also recorded it. While clearly a song about being broken hearted, the original song sounds rather cheerful really - whereas Duchess Leo go for a more crestfallen take.
The song begins starkly with just acoustic guitar and organ - then the electric guitar elevates the sadness to cries of frustration - which is soon soothed with some lovely strings - and I always enjoy some well placed strings :) and sparkly xylophone sounds. SummersRadio™ New Music! Duchess Leo - 'Hindsight' Duchess Leo are an indie/folk/pop/electronic duo signed to Brooklyn's Whale Heart Records label. Dan Ryan and Todd Buchler have been friends for most of their lives - having grown up together in the same New Jersey neighborhood. They started working on music together in the fall of 2007 - Todd has a background in electronic music and Dan is more into the software and production side of things.
They released their self titled five song debut EP in May of 2009 - and now they've just released their first full length album entitled 'Golden Gray'!
