SummersRadio™ New Music! Olivier Giacomotto & Damon Jee!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Olivier Giacomotto & Damon Jee - 'Spaghetti' Olivier Giacomotto is dj/ producer from Bordeaux France - as is Damon Jee - and they've just released a brand new EP called 'Cheerleaders'! It's out on the Definitive Recordings label - which was started by Canadians John Acquaviva and Richie Hawtin in 1992 - and is based in London Ontario. It has four tracks - the original versions of the title track and another called 'Spaghetti', as well as a remix of each song. This is the original mix of 'Spaghetti'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Classic! Cub!

SummersRadio™ Classic! Cub - 'Go Fish' One thing leads to another... After posting Solar Bears remix of their song 'Cub' yesterday I got to thinking about my all time favorite Vancouver band - Cub! They were a female indie pop trio that released their first single in 1992 - a six song EP called 'Pep'. I worked at Coast 1040 back then, which was Vancouver's first modern rock station. This was before mp3's of course, so we played about 80% cd's and 20% records - of songs available only on vinyl. (there were also a few songs on DAT tapes!) Out of everything we played Cub's 'Pep' EP was the only piece of 7" vinyl! (the only format that 'Pep' came out on - although these songs later appeared on their 1993 debut full length 'Betti-Cola' - which featured Neko Case drumming on a few tracks, and artwork by Dan De Carlo of Archie Comics fame!) Cub's sound was dubbed by some as 'cuddlecore' - both innocent and fun... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Classic! Orbital!

SummersRadio™ Classic! Orbital - 'Halcyon + On + On' 'Halcyon' was first released by Orbital in 1992 on the 'Radiccio' EP. This version appeared on their second eponymous album (known as both 'Orbital 2' and the 'Brown Album') which was released in '93, and both feature a sample of Opus III's 'It's A Fine Day' - with the vocals from Kirsty Hawkshaw looped backwards! I wanted to post something classic for New Year's Eve - and I think the visuals for this song are a good reminder to enjoy all the beauty that the world has to offer us in the New Year. I hope you all have a fine night tonight - and I look forward to bringing lots of new and interesting music your way in 2011... Cheers!!

SummersRadio™ Rare Cover! Curve!

SummersRadio™ Curve - 'I Feel Love' This version of Donna Summer's 1977 disco/ electronic classic produced by Giorgio Moroder was hard to find for many years as it was initially only released on the limited edition 3cd set called 'Ruby Trax' - which was released in celebration of the NME's 40th anniversary! It was released in 1992 and featured 40 of the coolest artists at the time doing a cover of their favorite number one song of the last 40 years! It was an amazing compilation but it's long out of print, however the song can now be found on Curve's double best of collection called 'The Way Of Curve 1990/ 2004' - Enjoy!
