SummersRadio™ New Music! Pulp!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Pulp - 'After You'
Yesterday Bowie released his first new single in ten years - and today we have a new Pulp song that took over ten years to record! 'After You' began it's life as an unfinished Pulp demo from 2000 that was never actually recorded. After spending most of last year touring the world the reunited Sheffield band finally decided to record the song - and they received some production help from James Murphy while they were both on the SS Coachella last month.
It's unclear how much of a role the former LCD Soundsystem frontman held in the recording of the single, but while it's distinctly Pulp it also has an atmospheric semi-disco DFA vibe to it - along with some fine upfront guitar work. 'After You' soundtracks a fun night out - with Jarvis chasing after (or stalking?) someone he clearly fancies... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Boys Noize & Erol Alkan featuring Jarvis Cocker!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Boys Noize & Erol Alkan featuring Jarvis Cocker - 'Avalanche (Terminal Velocity)' Well this is quite the collaboration - Germany's Alexander Ridha aka Boys Noize, London's Erol Alkan, and Pulp's Jarvis Cocker are three very talented musical gentlemen - so perhaps not surprisingly this is a uniquely powerful track - there is nothing else quite like it!
'Avalanche' began it's existence as an instrumental track by Boys Noize & Erol Alkan that was released as a single in April of last year. This new recording features the vocals of Jarvis Cocker and has been slighty renamed 'Avalanche (Terminal Velocity)'.
I've enjoyed Jarvis's forays into electronic music in recent years - including recording two songs with Air on their 2007 album 'Pocket Symphony' - and more recently last year's collaboration with Discodeine, which you can revist here:

SummersRadio™ New Music! Art Brut!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Art Brut - 'Lost Weekend' Art Brut have just released their new album called 'Brilliant! Tragic!' today! It's their fourth album - recorded in Salem Oregon - and their second in a row to be produced by the legendary Pixies frontman Frank Black. Lead vocalist Eddie Argos sings a bit differently on this one - with the words more softly spoken than sung - and ends up sounding a bit like Jarvis Cocker in the process. This is the first single from the album called 'Lost Weekend'... Enjoy!
Art Brut double shot! No doubt we've all experienced a lost weekend or two - or even hundreds! Clearly this isn't the band's first one either - as the first single from their last album 'Art Brut vs. Satan' was about a wild bender as well - this is 'Alcoholics Unanimous'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Classic! Lush!
SummersRadio™ Classic! Lush Featuring Jarvis Cocker - 'Ciao!' The new Discodeine song posted below reminded me of another great song that Jarvis Cocker shared vocals on - this duet from Lush's 1996 album 'Lovelife'. The brutal honesty captured on this breakup classic is on the level of the Pogues & Kristy MacColl's 'Fairytale Of New York' - although they're clearly bitter with hurt you can tell that they still really love each other. This SO should have been released as a single but sadly it never was - I suspect that they didn't want to interfere with the singles schedule for Pulp's 'Different Class' - great tune though... Enjoy!
