SummersRadio™ New Remix! Elliott Smith - 'Needle In The Hay' (Young Edits Electronic Mix)
Luke Foskey aka Young Edits aka Youth is a dj/ producer from Brisbane Australia who's just released his latest remix online - of Elliott Smith's song 'Needle In The Hay'! We previously featured another Young Edits remix last October - of Joy Divsion's 'She's Lost Control' which you can check out/ revisit here: http://summersradio.blogspot.com/2011/10/summersradio-new-remix-joy-division.html
'Needle In The Hay' was first released on Elliott Smith's self titled second album in 1995, and it was also included on the soundtack to Wes Anderson's 2001 film 'The Royal Tenenbaums'. Young Edits keeps the feel of the original intact in this tasteful remix - he describes it in his own words thusly 'Elliot Smith is one of those incredible artists that can provoke emotion through such minimalistic instrumentation. I've tried to keep that whilst giving a somewhat more dance-orientated undercurrent.'
This is the new 'Young Edits Electronic Mix' of Elliott Smith's 'Needle In The Hay' ... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Remix! Joy Division - 'She's Lost Control' (Young Edits Voices In Her Edit) Luke Foskey aka Young Edits// Youth or simply Youth (not to be confused with U.K. musician/ producer Martin Glover aka Youth - who has produced or remixed artists such as Primal Scream, The Verve, U2, The Shamen, Art Of Noise and many others - and who also started the first psychedelic trance label - Dragonfly Records!) is a 22 year old dj/ producer from Brisbane Australia. He's just released his latest remix online - of the Joy Division classic 'She's Lost Control'!
'She's Lost Control' appeared on Joy Division's debut album 'Unknown Pleasures' in 1979. A different version of the song was later released as a single in summer of 1980. The lyrics involve a girl having an epileptic seizure - Joy Division's guitarist/ vocalist Ian Curtis also had epilepsy.
This remix is respectful of the original - Luke says on his Soundcloud page:
'A band synonymous with artistic influence on my generation and I am no exception. I've always toyed with the idea of turning this track into something dancefloor orientated, but I never wanted it to lose its depth of originality nor its dark edge.
Hopefully this edit does justice to one of the most phenomenal and influential bands of their time. RIP Ian x'
This is the 'Young Edits Voices In Her Edit' remix of 'She's Lost Control' which will be released soon on the Discofil label - I particularly like it when the acid techno bits kick in later in the song (about 5:50 in)... Enjoy!
