SummersRadio™ New Music! Metric - 'Youth Without Youth'

Toronto's Metric are releasing their brand new single 'Youth Without Youth' online tomorrow! 'Youth Without Youth' is the first single from their forthcoming fifth studio album called 'Synthetica', which is set to be released on June 12th. Like 2009's fantastic 'Fantasies' album 'Synthetica' will be released on their own Metric Music International label. The single will be available on itunes tomorrow and I reckon through their official website as well: http://www.ilovemetric.com/

This Soundcloud clip also contains a two and a half minute commentary about the evolution of the song itself from singer Emily Haines and guitarist Jimmy Shaw. They've gone for what they call a '70's sleaze' sound here - upfront guitars with heavy drums. I love Emily Haines voice so much I could buy an album just of her speaking :)

This is Metric's new single 'Youth Without Youth'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Metric - 'Gold Guns Girls' (RIOT 87 Remix) Toronto's Metric announced their 'Fantasies' remix contest in conjunction with Indaba Music at the end of September and we're now a mere two weeks away from the winners being announced! There's an individual contest for each track on the album and each winner receives $1,000 cash - and most likely an official release as Metric is considering releasing a full remix album as well! As one of Metric's biggest fans it's hard to believe that it's been two whole months since I've posted any remixes - so it's certainly time for a new one!

This one is currently sitting in first place for 'Gold Guns Girls' - by Serbian duo RIOT 87 - and I must say it rocks! If this remix is to your liking you can download a copy for free here courtesy of Riot 87: http://www.mediafire.com/?yr7dxw1eaixv56e Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! Metric - 'Twilight Galaxy' (Dave LeBon Remix) I must say that I think that artists having remix contests is one of the best new things to happen to the music scene in some time. Everybody wins - regardless of who wins! Remixers get a chance to show their skills - the band gets all kinds of new perspectives on their songs - often from a full spectrum of sub-genres. Then when they release a collection of them we get a chance to buy the top quality chosen winners, and then on top of that there's all kinds of other remixes out there that you can download.

And so it is with Metric and their current contest to remix tracks from their 'Fantasies' album. There's a tonne of mixes out there so there's a lot to wade through to find the most postworthy ones. I love Metric so it's a challenge not to post one everyday - this is only my third in as many weeks! So far I've gone with Krusha's remix of 'Help I'm Alive' and the awesome DJ JMP remix of 'Stadium Love'. There's another mix of 'Twilight Galaxy' currently making the rounds on the big blogs by The Gripp, but I like this one more. This is the Dave LeBon Remix - quite suitable for a laid back semi-sunny Sunday afternoon! 'I'm higher than high Lower than deep'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Remix! + Free Download! Metric - 'Stadium Love' (DJ JMP Remix) As mentioned in a previous post, Metric currently has a remix contest on for their latest album 'Fantasies'. This is perhaps my favorite track from the album - it totally should have been a single - but it's taken on a life of it's own as the signature tune to end their shows with! This is DJ JMP's remix of 'Stadium Love' - and if it's to your liking you can also download a free copy of it from the link below... Enjoy!
