SummersRadio™ Rare Remix + Free Download! Iggy Pop - 'Nightclubbing' (Monoblok & Pslktr Edit)
I stumbled upon an excellent remix/ edit of Iggy Pop's 'Nightclubbing' earlier this week! 'Nightclubbing' was written by David Bowie and Iggy Pop and it was first released on Pop's 1977 album 'The Idiot'.
It reached a wider audience when it was included in the film and on the soundtrack for Trainspotting in 1996. It's also been covered (Grace Jones, Human League) and sampled (Nine Inch Nails, Oasis) by numerous artists.
This trippy remix/ edit by French duo Monoblok & Pslktr was released by their label Meant Records as part of their annual X-Mas present special edit series (which they release as a free download) in 2012. It's received over 3,000 plays on Soundcloud, but it's worthy of so many more so I thought I'd share it.

Nine Inch Nails 'Closer' (aka 'Closer To God') first appeared on their 1994 album 'The Downward Spiral' - and is a modern rock/ industrial/ electronic classic - from it's perfect electronic drum sound (sampled and modified from punk/ rock legend Iggy Pop's 1977 song 'Nightclubbing') right down to it's sexually direct lyrics. Although there have been many underground remixes of it made over the years, I hereby declare this one to be the finest one I've heard... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Arctic Monkeys - 'Brick By Brick' Sheffield's Arctic Monkeys have just released a brand new song online this weekend called 'Brick By Brick'! Although it's not going to be the first single, it's the first new song to surface from their forthcoming as yet untitled new studio album (their fourth) due out this summer.
Singer Alex Turner sounds a bit like Iggy Pop on this one - which is funny because Iggy Pop released an album in 1990 called 'Brick By Brick' which turned out to be his first recording to ever go gold. Arctic Monkey's 'Brick By Brick' is very 60's sounding - particularly the chorus - which is also quite similar to Kasabian's 2009 hit 'Fire' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agVpq_XXRmU
