SummersRadio™ New Music + Free Download! Karen O - 'The Moon Song'
Karen O has just released a new track online called 'The Moon Song'! 'The Moon Song' is from the soundtrack to the forthcoming Spike Jonze film called 'Her' which will be released on December 18th. 'Her' is a science fiction/ romance film starring Joaquin Phoenix as a lonely man who falls for a new advanced computer operation system that is voiced by Scarlett Johansson.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs vocalist previously worked with Jonze on the soundtrack to the film 'Where The Wild Things Are'. Jonze's other film work includes 'Being John Malkovich' (one of my all time favourite movies!) and 'Adaptation' - as well as making classic music videos for artists such as Beastie Boys, Bjork, Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim.
So while we have a lengthy wait for the film's opening you can hear 'The Moon Song' now on Soundcloud courtesy of Warner Bros. - and if it's to your liking you can download a copy for free if you're one of the first 10,000 humans to do so! Simply click on the download arrow below.
Like Karen O's contributions to 'Where The Wild Things Are' - 'The Moon Song' is a sparse acoustic tune - that Jaoquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson sing together in the film... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 'Under Earth'
Yeah Yeah Yeahs have just released another new song online called 'Under Earth'! 'Under Earth' is the second new track to surface online - following the first official single 'Sacrilege' - from their forthcoming new album (their fourth) called 'Mosquito' which is released April 16th by Interscope Records.
'Under Earth' is the fourth track on 'Mosquito' and it mixes psychedelic rock and heavy vocal effects with touches of dub and world music... Enjoy!
SummersRadio™ New Music! Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 'Sacrilege'
Yeah Yeah Yeahs have just posted their new official single 'Sacrilege' online today! Last month we featured the first teaser video from their forthcoming new album called 'Mosquito' - which is released April 16th - and today we have the full audio for the first proper single which debuted on BBC Radio 1 earlier today. If you pre-order 'Mosquito' on iTunes you're able to download 'Sacrilege' now.
'Sacrilege' is neither a pro or anti-religious song - although it does feature a gospel choir - I suspect that Karen O is referring to sex or a particular love affair. It's seems a bit of an odd choice for a lead single but at the same time it is strangely memorable... Enjoy!
Yeah Yeah Yeahs have just announced details of their new album called 'Mosquito'! 'Mosquito' will be the NYC band's fourth full length and it's released on April 15th (U.K. & Europe)/ 16th (North America). Here's the album cover art designed by Beomsik Shimbe Shim:
Karen O - this week's NME cover star - had this to say about the sound of the new album:"There's probably more bass on this record than all the other records combined. But there's also plenty of guitar. It's a bit more tripped out than our other records." I must say I'm intrigued - 'Mosquito' also includes a track produced by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy!
There are no full new songs yet - but the band did post the first of ? teaser videos for the album - this one features what I reckon is the title track... Enjoy!
Bonus Tracks! It's awesome to hear a minute of a new YYY's track but teasers leave me feeling rather, well... teased. I need more! So until the next tease I thought I'd post a couple classic tunes from one of the finest bands to arise from the 00's - one rocker and one remix.
First up is a track from their 2007 EP 'Is Is' - this is 'Down Boy'... Enjoy!
'Zero' was the first single released from their last album - 2009\s 'It's Blitz'. This is the rather amazing 'N.A.S.A. Bloody Lobo Remix' from the remix EP... Enjoy!
