SummersRadio™ New Music! Black Hearted Brother!

SummersRadio™ New Music! Black Hearted Brother - 'My Baby Just Sailed Away'

Black Hearted Brother have just released their debut album called 'Stars Are Our Home' today! The thirteen track album is released on Slumberland Records in North America and on Sonic Cathedral in the U.K. It's available on iTunes now - or you can order it on cd or on limited white vinyl here: http://slumberlandrecords.com/catalog/show/261

Black Hearted Brother consists of Neil Halstead (from Slowdive and Mojave 3), Mark Van Hoen (Seefeel, Locust) and Nick Holton (Holton's Opulent Oog, Coley Park). Fans of shoegaze, experimental, space rock and wall(s) of sound will be delighted with this stunning debut album. 'My Baby Just Sailed Away' is the album's tenth track and a fine example of it's depth... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ Classic! Slowdive!

SummersRadio™ Classic! Slowdive - 'Alison' All this talk of shoegaze the last couple days got me thinking of one of my most favorite songs of the genre - and Christian Strobe mentioned Slowdive as well - so I simply must post it! 'Alison' is the first track on Slowdive's 'Outside Your Room' EP and their third album 'Souvlaki' - both released in 1993 on Creation Records.

In addition to the amazing production on this track, I also love the lyrics:

Listen close, and don't be stoned
I'll be here in the morning
'Cause I'm just floating
Your cigarette still burns
Your messed-up world will thrill me
Alison, I'm lost

Alison, I said we're sinking
There's nothing here but that's okay
Outside your room, your sister's spinning
But she lies, tells me she's just fine
I guess she's out there somewhere

And the sailors they strike poses
TV covered walls, and so slowly
With your talking and your pills
Your messed-up life still thrills me
Alison, I'm lost

Alison, I'll drink your wine
I'll wear your clothes, when we're both high
Alison, I said we're sinking
But she laughs and tells me it's just fine
I guess she's out there somewhere

Most songs sound like they move up and down - but this one goes more sideways - in circles. To me this song sounds like how floating would feel - if humans could literally do so physically. I wish that there was an extended version of this song - like an hour long! This is 'Alison'... Enjoy!
