DJ Shadow has just released his first best of compilation featuring rare remixes and previously unreleased tracks called 'Reconstructed - The Best Of DJ Shadow'! The compilation is released on a single cd and digital download featuring 16 tracks - and even better - a double cd and deluxe download featuring 25 tracks!
It's also available on double vinyl and in a box set retitled 'Reconstructed - The Definitive DJ Shadow' containing seven cd's, a dvd, a 12", a book - and it's autographed! SummersRadio™ Rare Remix + Free Download! DJ Shadow/ Z-Trip! DJ Shadow - 'Right Thing' (Z-Trip 'Set The Party Off' Remix In Three Parts) Z-Trip has just released a rare remix he did for DJ Shadow online as a free download!
'Right Thing' first appeared as 'Right Thing/ GDMFSOB' - the ninth track on DJ Shadow's 2002 album 'The Private Press'. This remix is from the rare remix album called 'The Private Repress' which was only released in Japan the following year.
I particularly like the opening vocal sample here about the sheer abundance of music and diggers. This is the excellent 'Z-Trip 'Set The Party Off' Remix In Three Parts' of DJ Shadow's 'Right Thing'... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ New Music! DJ Shadow!
SummersRadio™ New Music! DJ Shadow - 'Sad And Lonely' Well it's been a long time coming, but DJ Shadow's new studio album - his fourth - is released on September 27th! (Oct. 3rd in Europe) It's called 'The Less You Know, The Better' - the cd will feature 17 tracks and the download version has 19 - the cd has one song not on the download version - and the download has three songs not on the cd.
'The Less You Know, The Better' is somewhat of a return to the style of his classic debut album 'Endtroducing...' in that the songs on the record are largely made from obscure samples. 'Sad And Lonely' is the fifth song on the new album and it features the vocals of Susan Reed. (Thanks Roeland - Cheers!)
Susan Reed was a singer, harpist and zitherist who was popular in the New York folk scene in the 1940's - in 1945 Life magazine dubbed her 'the pet of Manhattan nightclubbers'. In the process of trying to find the singer to clear the sample, Shadow discovered that she had died just a week before - on April 25th 2010. In the end they located her husband and son who gave their approval after hearing the song.
This is 'Sad And Lonely' from DJ Shadow featuring the vocals of Susan Reed... Enjoy!

SummersRadio™ DJ Shadow Remix Project
SummersRadio™ DJ Shadow - 'Remix Project' (Teaser Mix) DJ Shadow released a new limited collection of remixes on a compilation in July called 'The DJ Shadow Remix Project'. The songs were collected from the winners of a remix contest and features 17 tracks. The disc was originally only available through his website as a bonus gift with purchase - but now that promotion is over. HOWEVER he is selling copies of the cd at his shows for a mere $10! Many thanks to the kind merch gentleman who tossed me one for free - much appreciated! Here's a 'Teaser Mix' of some of the tracks...Enjoy!
