SummersRadio™ New Music! Lola Dutronic Featuring Stephanie B - 'Everybody Loves You When You're Dead'
Toronto duo Lola Dutronic have released a new video for their latest single 'Everybody Loves You When You're Dead'! 'Everybody Loves You When You're Dead' is from their new album (their fourth full length) called 'Everyone's A Star' which is released on the Red Star Digital Music label. The thirteen track album is available on itunes now and it will also see a physical release on cd on October 11th.
'Everybody Loves You When You're Dead' is a clever tune about rock and pop stars who die young - and how quickly their shortcomings are forgotten when they pass on. The lyrics - like all good comedy - are amusing because they're true. They make some great points - how most people didn't fawn over Nick Drake until years after he was gone, how Sid Vicious never managed to become a good bass player - and how a premature or unexpected death equals some of the artist's best chart placings of their careers.
What makes this song so instantly likeable - aside from the brutal honesty - is the sweetness of the vocals and the catchy chorus. Rarely does a song about death sound so uplifting! And the irony isn't lost on the band - as they even ponder the possibility that their own greatest fame may also be posthumous. The song features over a dozen guest backing vocalists including members of the Tom Tom Club and Gang Of Four.
The video features a montage of music stars who've left us - it's fun to see how many you can name - and I like the cheeky intro graphics... Enjoy!
